  1. Maybe time to trade in that old 2 stroke and 4 stroke and get a outboard that winterizes itself like mine.
  2. That's what's called "Highway Robbery"....did you notify the proper authorities.
  3. If that was true our roads would be paved with GOLD bricks........less then half of that money goes back to the people.
  4. Ya, I hear ya, but I would rather fund them then the government.
  5. Oh my........$133.9 per liter.......but I'm sure it the finest gasoline this side of the Canadian Rockies....
  6. But without that tax how much would a doctor visit cost you.
  7. I have never had any trouble running any Jungle Juice.
  8. An eye for an eye a fish for a fry
  9. I must be the lucky one because my boat has been on charge when not fishing for over 15 years. But that's what everyone says when we go fishing too. Last cranking battery was 9 years old and I only changed it out because it was 9 years old. Life is good and my on-board charger makes it even easier and one less thing to worry about.
  10. Well let's see.........DanC do you change your oil or not ? ? ? I never have changed my oil on my snowblower or lawnmower but that was because I thought it would blow up and I would never have to cut the lawn or clean the drive again.......but that didn't work out for so far.....DAMN ! ! !
  11. Yes, I agree.........especially since there are many old type chargers that will give you a quick charge or even start your vehicle but will also overcharge and boil out your battery....NOT GOOD ! ! ! With the new Smart Chargers that most on-board chargers are nowadays they not only charge said battery(s) but also go to their de-suffocation mode and then into a maintain mode for the rest of the time. Money well spent when you consider how much each of these batteries cost X3....... And yes, I agree with stonefish that they are extremely convenient and that also makes them a wise choice.
  12. A good smart on-board charger is just as important as what battery you choose. And it should be plugged in at all times when not fishing.
  13. The hand pump kit that actually screws into the lower unit is much better tool then trying to squeeze a tube into the lower unit, especially if the outboard is of the larger variety and holds quite of bit of lower unit oil. Remember, if you purchase the proper tool now it will serve you for the rest of your fishing life and make the job much easier. Quality tools are worth their weight in gold IMHO and they only cost more next year.
  14. Regular Stabil is the stuff you want for winter storage on just about anything, including lawn mowers, etc. If you read the directions you must use Marine Stabil at twice the amount for storage and that's after paying almost twice the amount for it. No need for all that expense. DanC might be onto something because for years I never used Stabil, I just ran all the gas out of the carb but now with gasoline having 10% alcohol I use it and then run the carbs dry.
  15. Well, it that was true we would have a lot of problems out there when one hits a immovable or hard object going full throttle. I have experienced this only twice (thank God) and the outboard kicks up out and over sad object without any damage to boat.
  16. If the boat is not right up against the trailer post I can't see how it would damage anything if it did slide up against the post on a quick stop unless that post is weak to begin with.
  17. Hey, how did you know I have a 60hp motor..... I always make sure my motor is turn all the way to the right so the steering rod is inside the motor while towing. Don't know if that makes any difference or not but it's worked for me for many years. I suppose the roads you travel also play into this quite a bit.
  18. I'm not saying a transom saver is a bad idea, just one I have never seen the need for and have never had a transom problem.
  19. As said zip and all Velcro should be secured. Then gentle cycle with a mild soap has worked for me the last 10+ years.
  20. M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E Mickey Mouse......Donald Duck......Rabbit Season.......Duck Season........LOL Now tell me, who didn't sing that Mickey Mouse song or repeat... rabbit season duck season rabbit duck season......LOL
  21. I agree with using a stabilizer for storage purposes but don't see a need for a ethanol treatment, especially if you have a engine that has been designed around fuel that contains 10% alcohol.
  22. LOL.........you don't realize what you just done.......no 4X4 for now......no bass boat for now....no V8 for now....it's a endless journey we all make sooner or later. As the old commercial once said "pay me now or pay me later" I'll give you 2 years and you will be looking for a boat and more overtime at work to pay for now's you didn't get yesteryear.....LOL Enjoy the good mileage "for now"......
  23. I agree with new upper and lower screw washer/gaskets. Refill and check again next season after 2-3 times out. A little water goes a long ways to making oil milky. You will probably be A OK as long as water didn't pour out of that lower unit.
