  1. Ok, first off it wasn't 1/2 way, more like 1/3 of the way... and when will you ever let me live that one down? Friend!
  2. A bit bitter sweet for me. I bought a new sled this winter and I haven't been able to get 500 miles on it. On the other had, I can't wait for shallow king/trout action on Lake O's south shore. First world problems but maybe one last blast from old man winter in March (not like this hasn't happened b4) and then on to double digit temps.. Oh yea, and throw in a winning lottery ticket into the mix just for fun..LOL. A boy can dream..
  3. The new Terrova and Ulterra are the best - ive had both. PM me - we can chat
  4. Looking for the best Shimano TDR for #0 and #1 dipsy's in 8'6". The specs are almost the same between the Medium and Medium Hvy so I'm leaning towards the Med. It will be primarily used for walleye fishing. TIA.
  5. Bear proof campsite is not a problem. I do a lot of back country camping so I'm used to it and I have the right gear. Yes, I definatly want to check out the pictographs but I'm really looking forward to fishing a true northern shield lake that has minimal fishing pressure and boat traffic but with navionics charts
  6. Nice Rig! You're gonna enjoy it My recommendation would be to upgrade the TM to an 80 as you've indicated (and grp 31 batteries). The iLink is also really nice. Regarding your graph, i'm not to familiar with the Helix 5 series but make sure it has a Micro SD slot. Better yet, see if you can get a model with navionics bundled in. For me, the chartplotter w/navionics has been single most impressive development I've experienced in fishing. PM me if you have any questions on any of this.
  7. I bought a brand new Cat this winter, a 600 2 stroke, and its unbelievable how fast it accelerates, it scares me. And there are many that are wayyy faster. Falling through the ice is always a hard thing to understand. Sometimes the confidence of high speed makes you want to try skimming across sketchy bits of ice. Also we have a young woman in wood's bay hits a tree. 24 yrs old. Its a damn shame.
  8. I've always been interested in spending some time on Lake Missinaibi. Anyone on here that can lean in with the do's and don'ts and the best time of year for fishing? I would be car camping with the understanding that the park does not have any services other than water. TIA!
  9. More importantly is keeping the pressure up to the max rating. As radial tire flex with each revolution they will heat up if under-inflated. Also, if you travel in excess of 100kph, its better to raise your pressure another 5 - 10 psi. I've run Hercules and Carlisle radials with no issues. Ranger put Carlisle on from the factory and these trailers carry $100k plus boats.
  10. Yes, an abundance of food and increased water clarity would enhance a preditor's population, not decimate it. Look to Simcoe and the Smallmouth population.
  11. Do tell
  12. great information. Thank you!
  13. Does anyone know if the MNR has been successful in figuring out why there's issues with the walleye population in Scugog or is it just to much fishing pressure?
  14. Good to know, I didn't get out last weekend due to the weather. This w/e doesn't look much better either. I'll keep trying as long as the average temps stay around +5
  15. You may have noticed that the Legend Tournaments have been on clearance. This is because the line has been revamped for 2018. New guides and reels seats and 3 new 10foot offerings. Now I love the idea of a really long rod for launching wind resistant baits (IE. Double 10's) but I have not idea where I can store it..
  16. Thanks for the advice! I have almost ever colour of deep tail-dancer which seems to be a favorite. If the forecast holds true, then it should be a decent day with a high of 7 and winds around 4 knts. If anyone else is out there pls say hi!
  17. Thanks Mike, I'll still be going out on Sunday so I'll report back with at least the water temp.. hopefully more!
  18. Thanks Mike, what kind of temps are you looking/waiting for?
  19. Hi everyone, this is my feeble attempt at moving us back a little towards fishing There is so much political crap going on these days i've become helplessly blind towards it.. So.... my conundrum is Quinte this weekend and hoping to place a nice report on here monday (if the forecast holds) bud and i will be launching in Picton. We'll want a limit of eaters if we can find them but would also like to troll the reach for a transient or 2.. Thoughts?
  20. I'm sure someone will speak up on this with more detail but my information states that the Canadian charts are owned by a 3rd party and navionics is the only one with permission to use them. That's why HB charts cut off at the border. This should be available to everyone, how we got cornered into this one i'll never know.
  21. Heading back out to Sturg. today. Yesterday - saturday a buddy and myself caught 6, boated 4, and had several other hits and swirls. Two were mid 40's others were around 38 to 42. I guess that's why there a ton of boats out there...lol
  22. Yea Rizzo, I'm working out near Bowmanville right now so Kawarthas are the ticket. Thanks everyone, yes its def. a box of chocolates..lol I'm think Sturgeon Saturday and if it produces I'll go back Sunday. If not, maybe Pigeon, Gannon's Narrows does produce from time to time.
  23. Wind and weather reports for the entire weekend look favorable so a buddy and I are looking towards the kawarthas. Any recommendations for lake/pattern? I've heard that Sturgeon has been hot this year. Thoughts? Patrick.
  24. I had a friend get me this for 6 months as a gift but personally, I dont think its worth it once you factor in the exchange, shipping, etc.
  25. This ^^^^ Plus - Deadrise is also something to consider. Sure, width is indicative with stability but in bigger water, having a high Deadrise (deep V) will be just as important. Take a bass boat for example. Plenty wide but a nightmare in big waves. Regarding wide gunwales, absolutely - especially with riggers but these come at a cost. Without getting into to much detail, it looks like you should have a look at the Lund impact 1775 or larger. I recall taking a 1875 for a test run and was very impressed with the layout and stability.
