That's identical to what we experienced here on the Ottawa River one night at the end of June this year .....my wife's new SUV needed $3500 in hood and roof repair and the insurance has just authorized the go ahead to replace the steel roof on our house due to the damage from the hail....$20K worth

Thanks Lew!!....I love Muskie best but the thought of fighting a 1000lb tuna and then releasing it back into the ocean gives me chills....next year Thanks mercman..the fun is just starting Thanks Rizzo... fast trolling (5.3mph on the GPS) in deeper water (~25FOW) using a 10" crankbait Thanks Cliff......get out there! Thanks.. Ottawa River.....hooks are always touched up before they hit the water. Bingo.. It was a beauty night for sure..thanks Thanks Wayne.. They are definately starting to put the feed bag on.. -

You've got that right Roy!!...thanks. -
As some of you know from an earlier post, I had to cancel our trip down to Nantucket for Bluefin Tuna because of Hurricane Irene ....it was actually a good decision because they had closed the Providence Rhode Island airport on Sunday and I would not have made it down in time to get on the boat yesterday... So I puttered around the house and completed some outside chores which gave me the green light to head out on the river for a couple of hours last night before it got dark....I can't believe how short the days are getting!!......water temp dropped 5 degrees from last weekend with these cooler nights.... They're starting to fatten' up....

Congrats on catching your 1st!!..

Just got off a conference call with the lads.....we're pullin' the plug and will re-group at another time....maybe some peacock bass during the cold months Thanks Daryl.....instead of planting a couple of trees I decided to try out my new 570 Husqvarna chainsaw and cut 2 trees down on my property instead....man did that ever feel good!!!!! Yup... Thanks Lew.....I guess I'll make up for some lost time and hunt down some Muskies here on the Ottawa next week while on vacation! Well said!! Thanks Misfish.. That was a given Wayne!!!....he was already warned that there was a crazy Canadian amongst the 3 customers he was hosting...

We have a 12 hour charter booked on Tuesday to head out past Nantucket and fish for some Bluefin Tuna and Striped Bass....we believe that Hurricane Irene will have passed through that area by then...what's bugging the crap out of me is what effect will that storm have on the fishing???...We don't mind losing the $200 deposit as opposed to paying the $1500 for a day of non productive fishing due to Irene!!....plus, I really do not want to waste $$$$ on a flight from Ottawa to Boston if the fishing is going to be be poor ....my other buddy is in the same situation but he is flying all the way from Spokane, Washington. Does anyone have any past experiences with ocean fishing days after a class 3 storm????..... I called the charter company and they said that Saturday and Sunday charters have been cancelled but they hope to get out on Monday... Thoughts?????

Wow...it's been another brutal year with work and business travel but I finally got a chance this Canada Day weekend (TODAY) to get my ass in gear and get the boat lift, docks, and boat in the water....late or what????? Anyhow, took advantage of the wife watching 2 1/2hrs of Coronation Street this morning and decided to troll home and make sure everything was setup on the boat.. Had a Muskie hit within 15 minutes of trolling over one of my go to spots and man was it nice to feel that girl on the end of my rod!!! Not a big one but what a way to start the season off!!!

Great pictures Joey!! ....looks like you guys had a great time!....I love the way you're holding that Muskie up for the picture LOL....

Thanks Fang...Rick saw a nice cow and calf in the second bay past the Sharp Rock Inlet when he came in to visit last Wednesday. Too bad you can't get up there this summer but there's always the fall ....My buddy Steve drove up to Rick's in May to help open up the cabin this year.. Thanks Jacques.....no magic lure, just a 6" white Mr. Twister jigged off the bottom Marc, I can't get up there the beginning of July this year because of business travel, but my buddy Steve and his buddy will..and you're right, we were there the same time as you and your family last year and I remember that the fishing wasn't the greatest for some reason as well as the water level was really low...

Hey Wayne.....you would have a hard time justifying to pay for any fly-in seeing how you have a plane and can do it all!! Sure, you can portage into the lake with a week's worth of supplies and kill yourself doin' it but I'd rather pay Darren and get in to Rick's Cabin within 15min and not break into a sweat....on top of that, hot water, 2 propane fridges, satellite to watch the playoffs, hot water, etc....I'll pay the extra just for that I guess that's why there's a waiting list year after year to get in there
