You have to be very specific with your Kijiji ads to avoid this. Always list for 20-25% more than you will take. Write Lowball Offers Will Be Ignored. I've had some amazing dealings on Kijiji, and some terrible dealings on Kijiji.

Dave, did you ever watch "The beer league" on youtube? Look up the Ramsay Down Holers it's amazing!

Question About Fishing Shows For Those Who Attend / Exhibit.
James77 replied to James77's topic in General Discussion
Absolutely. I think it will be crazy busy this year. They moved it to march break week as well right? -
So I've recently been looking into cost to exhibit at some of the shows, and I'm curious on a few things. First questions, are there any smaller shows that people have attended which have had a decent turnout ? The two big one's I know of are the Spring Fishing and Boat Show- Which is in the middle of February this year! and the Toronto Sportsmen show which is moved back to the Airport venue and is in the middle of March. Both shows come in around $1200-$1500. Any smaller cheaper shows? Second question, I've seen a lot of guys on here post up with business ideas, if anyone is interested in potentially splitting a booth please let me know! Thanks for any help guys! James

Lots of Rain Last Night, Bilge Pump Not Working, Any Ideas?
James77 replied to James77's topic in General Discussion
Thanks Lew, we just took the back deck apart to access the bilge and somehow it was unplugged, still confused as to how it happened. Thanks! -
We were out fishing last night in the rain, left it out in the rain tonight. It's a 2011 Legend Angler with a panel with three switches. The ones for nav light and livewell are working. Battery is fine, they have a press to reset and that hasn't worked, anyone have any ideas? Is it shorting out? Thanks in advance.

WARNING TO ALL ... DRYLAND MARINA RICHMOND HILL
James77 replied to chrismarkz's topic in General Discussion
Always assume the worst, even with mechanics anything I always ask for a full breakdown of pricing including labour before I okay a project. In the past I've been screwed by a marina. At our small business I always disclose and okay all costs with a customer, you'd hope that other businesses operated that way. Sorry to hear you were taken for a ride, but you do have some power with online reviews. James -
Thanks, I did mean Elk lake haha. The price was amazing, we paid an extra $50 to get a upgraded bigger boat with a flat floor, they were super comfortable to fish out of. The downside is there were two "hotspots" both were about 30 minutes either direction. We burned up a crazy amount of gas. We did find a few lakes with weedbeds and pencil weeds, and they were surprisingly vacant of even hammer handle pike. We did try trolling along shoreline, along the middle, everywhere and different depths. Couldn't make it happen. I wish the bite was on as we would have gone back year after year. In hindsight, Mike Borger suggested a trip that I would have loved to have done, but some of the other guys didn't know if they could afford it . It was $640 for a ATV in to a previous fly in only trip in the Chapleau region. I think we will make that trip happen next year if not another fly in. After all the gas and everything we ended up being closer to $540 for this spot.

Hey guys, I'm curious if anyone has some insight to this system and potentially why the lack of fish we experienced? We stayed at Twin Bear camp, it was an amazing price booked by a guy in our group after some financial hardships, I think it's $310 for boat rental, tank of gas, and a weeks stay in a cabin. The cabins were beautiful, the boats were in tip top shape, we fished out of a misty river with a 20 Yamaha that started with a quarter pull every time. It's a very deep river varying from 30-65 feet, very little shoreline because it just drops off so quick. We were targeting Pike casting at the shorelines. Occasionally the fish finder would beep and alert me of a school of fish on the bottom, I'd throw on small jigs with twister tails, gulp minnows, everything I could and could not get a single Jig bite. Over 3 days of hard fishing, and about 4 tanks of gas later we decided to head back to the cottage because we knew we could catch a lot more, and a lot bigger fish there. We tried everything, and I basically almost lost the will to fish. All in all maybe 7 small pike were landed, biggest being 28"? 0 walleye, 1 perch, 3 bass for our group of 4. The river is some of the most beautiful, picturesque land I've ever seen, amazing weed structure, beautiful bays in some nearby lakes. Nothing produced. I'm curious as to why the fishing was so bad? Is it overfished and too many fish harvested? No stocking? We had good luck at the cottage and got on the walleye and musky bite in no time. Are we terrible at fishing or is there no fish? James

What camp are you staying at?

I got a stormtech recently and it's been great! James

Lew, glad to hear you're doing well! I've had a few run ins with the Peterborough hospital over the last few years and they've always been great.

I bought my first worm harness a couple months ago. I've tried it a few times and haven't had much success. What is the correct way to fish it? I was trolling it behind the boat. I tried some weights to get it lower in the water column. Thanks Manitoubass for posting that weight, looks like it would be better to use. What is the correct way to rig the worm, any other tips or tricks? Thanks

Happy Belated Canada Day Everyone! I'm heading up to a fishing camp on the Montreal River for July 3rd-10th, wondering if anyone had some advice or intel they wouldn't mind sharing I've never fished a river this size, where should I be looking for the monster pike? Thanks folks!

Hey, I'm using one currently. It works really well. I use it on my left hand which is what I use to grab the fish. You only need one. The black portion on the glove is hookproof, and is the same material used to prevent law enforcement from hyperdermic needles. Protects most of your hand from the hooks and teeth. There are still vulnerable spots so you still have to be careful. You could basically lip a musky or walleye with these things. Downside is they are hard to clean and will always have a "musky" smell.

I'll be throwing musky lures while my pals throw bass lures But in all seriousness I can't wait to hop a frog over some lily pads for some buckets! Good luck everyone!

Any input fellas? Also interested. Thanks

I've been super interested in bears since I was younger, having never seen one in person it was always in the back of my mind that I might be mauled while fishing, or walking when up north. The media really make bears out to be way more intimidating than they should be. Black bears never kill humans out of defense for cubs, or for defense of food, when black bears kill it is normally an older male bear that is killing to eat. With most black bears when they charge it is just a warning sign, saying you're too close. The noisy charging bears normally never attack. I'm not saying this woman is smart, this video could have gone the other way but it really opens your eyes.

Colour is not an accurate way to identify a black bear from a grizzly. Body shape is. A grizzly has a pronounced hump on its shoulder, a build up of powerful muscles for digging. The grizzly has longer and straighter claws better for digging not so good for climbing although a smaller grizzly will climb a tree. The grizzly bear has a pronounced and longer nose and a dished face (older bear). Neither bears are particularly dangerous. The grizzly is more dangerous if surprised or has cubs and feels threatened. Grizzly attacks although rare are almost always self defense hence the reason many people are not killed during the attack. Black bear attacks are extremely rare. A black bear may attack in self defense, but more often the black bear has a means of escape such as running into the forest or climbing a tree.

thinking of buying a gopro?....might want to wait NF
James77 replied to bow slayer's topic in General Discussion
So sweet, but only 20 minute flight times. -
Thanks for all the input guys, my main question is really do i buy fluoro line or fluoro leader material? I'm going to be casting Rapala's at night and will be jigging from a boat in the daytime. Thanks James
-
Hi guys, Only ever used wire leaders throughout my life. Thinking of trying a Fluoro leader this weekend for some Walters. My question: Do you use fluorocarbon line, or the specific fluorocarbon leader material? I use 30# PP as my main line, and will be tying onto that. Thanks James
