  4. Well I thought I would post this as my son has been enjoying a few cd's for sometime and I thought I would share them with you.. They are meant for youngsters aged 1-101 and believe it or not they are catchy tunes! I find myself singing them or humming them often! "I see a barefoot bear... He walks without a worry or a care..." or "3 Bears shelled the peanuts 8 Bears mashed them up, 12 Bears put the peanut butter into the peanut butter cups, although the words are hard to understand I found myself singing along... we really like peanut butter....." The artists name is Brent Holmes He is one of the best selling children's recording artists in North America (according to his Album covers) here are a few of his recordings: Moose tunes for kids Cow tunes for kids Sea tunes for kids Fun tunes for teachers MooseBeary Jams Beary ChristMoose and my sons favourite Bear Tunes for kids. If you are interested in kid friendly music Google Brent Holmes Music or Brent Holmed Cds A neat thing about his cds is he includes "Fun Facts" about the animals the songs are about... they last about 10-15 minutes and teach kids about the animals he is singing about... believe it or not I learned a couple things! Such as Bears will not hibernate if they have an abundant source of food.. they hibernate do to lack of forage.. I had an idea as to why they hibernate, but didnt bother seeking out the answer for whatever reason...cool facts about Grizzley's and Polar bears too! Anyways.. if you want to get a child a good gift for a special holiday.. consider his CD's I am not affiliated with this artist in any way shape or form... but his music is fun, my son loves it and it in educational! Gerritt.

  11. Thanks for everything guys! The Jerky turned out fantastic!!! I did some in the oven and some in the smoker minus the wood chips because I used liquid smoke... I have go to say this is some of the best Jerky I have tasted!!! (other then Joeys of course) and I did it all for under 40.00 for 6lbs of it (pre-cooked weight) I wound up with about 2.5lbs after drying..... when I think about it when I purchase it from Costco I pay 9.00 for about 8 ozs.. so I am well ahead and this stuff is WAY better as I know exactly what is in it! thanks again guys for all your suggestions! it is appreciated Have a great weekend! Gerritt.
  12. I have seen the rods Spiel is building for you guys... and all I can say is your gonna be impressed, they are sweet looking rods for sure! Its not about how many fish you put in the boat, but how you look doing it! LOL... Enjoy the new rods guys! Gerritt.
  13. ok...... So, I have my meat marinating.. and sometime tomorrow I will pop it into the oven... So... I should Line the bottom of the oven with tinfoil (not touching the elements) and set it on the lowest setting possible.. and turn it from time to time... I should also keep the oven propped open? or not?.... I should set it up on the top two racks as I have alot of beef to do (8Lbs) and switch the racks a couple times during this process? I have a decent stove Ceramic top and it is fairly new... what is the ideal temperature to dry it out and not cook it? sorry guys but I am new to cooking meat INDOORS....other then roasts! LOL you know what I mean! Gerritt.
  14. I should add I also have a smoker... but I followed a recipe that uses liquid smoke... would I be better off placing it in the smoker sans wood chips? I found last time I made jerky in the smoker and used chips it was bitter (too much smoke) am I better off placing it in my little chief instead of the oven? thanks again guys! Gerritt.
  15. OK I have bought 8 lbs of Eye Of Round (Lean) Sliced 1/4" with the grain.. and have mixed a nice marinade a bottle of Soy,A bottle of Teriaki, a bottle of Liquid Smoke, a bottle of Worchester sauce, Brown sugar, Onion powder, Garlic powder and Red Pepper flakes.. I have everything in 2 large Ziplock bags and the air has been removed all the meat is FULLY covered in this solution... Now.. after marinating 12-24 hours??? Do I leave the beef sit out before putting it in the oven? Some say do, some say dont.. What do I do with it in the oven? Lowest temp and highest racks? what do I do to the bottom of the oven to prevent a mess? any other tips? Joey? anyone else? Thanks in advance! Gerritt.
  16. Moe, I had a 97 Vision at one point (same car) they have Mitsubishi engines under the hood.... may experiance is that they are problematic. Had I of known you were looking for one I would have given you mine for what the scrap dealer would have given me for it, there was little wrong with it (Needed a new oil pump) but I did not feel right about selling a POS... I would say walk away from the Intrepid. Gerritt.
  17. OK I think I ask this on everyones behalf... "Sooooo TJ gonna give you the birthday spanks?" and if not someone raise their hand and say I! LOL Happy birthday doll-face Gerritt.
  18. Well I was tipped off that Sears was having a sale on lawnmowers, so I stopped in... Not realizing the sale starts tommorrow (DOH!) so I spend some time and look around and finally decide on a model I like it is a Craftsman with a 5.5HP Honda engine (thanks for all the advice guys) so I go to the teller and ask her what the sale price is.. she states the sale does not start till March 30th but they have Clearance units on sale right now... I ask her if she is able to give me the sale price so I dont have to come back tomorrow morning, she explained she couldn't... I was a little miffed so I asked to check in the computer what the sale price is for tomorrow, she says Oh.. it is on sale now and you get a free MP3 player! I asked her what tomorrows price will be she said it was the same but no MP3 player??? so I figured I might as well purchase it now and if the price does go down in 30 days I get price protected.... I got the unit i felt comfortable buying (thanks to all your great advice) saved some money and got an MP3 player I will probably regift to my Nephew for his birthday (I have a 40GB iPod) all in all I stayed well below my 500.00 budget, Picked up the unit for 369.00 + taxes and got a free 59.00 MP3 player... I think I faired ok.. I will keep an eye out on a price drop though (and Yes I am Dutch LOL) Thanks again guys you opinons helped me make a purchasing decision. Gerritt.
  19. LOL.... looks like I was 8 days too late! LOL Gerritt.
  20. I think they drill, add an extension, drill some more, add an extension... similar to drilling for oil... but man.. even for a gas auger I assume it would take a bit of time. Gerritt.
  21. Uhmmmm... imagine drilling this by hand?? offset handles or not!!! insane! <embed width="430" height="389" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://s129.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid129.photobucket.com/albums/p224/gerritt_2006/thelonrivermay12.flv"></embed> Gerritt.
  22. I just want to thank everyone for their opinions I will let you know once I decide on a model... right now it is between Lawnboy and "something" with a Honda engine...I am leaning towards Craftsman for the Honda.. and the fact that the craftsman is what I have now and has lasted forever... thanks again guys it is appreciated. Gerritt.
