  1. To help position the trandsucer in the hole I glue a bubble level (sorry no pics) to the top of the transducer. When you place the tranducer in the hole you can then adjust so the signal goes straight down. Very helpful when you are in a little deeper water and your bait or spoon will then show up on the screen. You can stick it on with a hot glue stick to make it semi-permanent if this is the tranducer that goes on your transom for summer season.
  2. press button once and speed shows up press it a second time and speed and temp shows press it a third and only temp press it once more and temp disappears I run mine on auto about 95% of the time so having to adjust at set up is not a big deal but one thing I wish my lowrance models would have is a fav settings switch where I could run on auto and then pop it into manual with last settings still there Also I hate having to turn off fish ID and teunr on speed and temp every time i turn on my Eagle.
  3. power what a 1500 watt finder pick up is totally different than a 4000 watt pixel definition - gotta be 480 minimum dual transducer function narrow/wide cone make the screen highly visible from all angles 5" minimum screen size If you want to do something different, make the front all screen. put the adjustment buttons on the top or side of the unit. Buttons now take up way to much real estate that could be used for screen. Look at a computer screen and see how much the adjustment buttons take up. 1 button temp/speed control. Have it toggle through options as you push the button.
  4. You know it's very hard to tell Pete and Lew apart when they're wearing tooks (proper northern ontario spelling). We also call em skull caps and skidoo caps
  5. Quick run down 7'6" Fig Rig H Musky rod love it but now wnat the MH Shimano Corsair 401 nice real New Tourny Scum Frogs WOW! WOW! great hooks ups even better than the old ones 3 old green cardinal 4's look great in my reel case - won't use them 1 old green cardinal 3 same as above 13" Beagle stubborn as a mule but gotta love em! As yet have not tried out the late season buy - Big Jon dual planer board mast
  6. $3000 more for a 115 4 stroke How much $ for a 135 Optimax or even 150 Spend the extra on horsepower man!!!! (grinning from ear to ear) Doesn't that Nitro take up to a 150 Thats 40-45MPH to 55MPH upgrade. Go with speed I wish I had been able to max out the HP on my crestliner but it was a new to me and came with the 115.
  7. I've come across a few very cheap pop machines in the triad that I was looking at doing this myself. I've seen some used ones for $1-200 that would be meat to put in the garage. Wife over ruled and made me buy a regular fridge for the garage.
  8. With a few weeks between fall and winter I started my list of fishing to do's today. First up was to fix up my new bucktail box. I picked up an office file folder at Liquidation World for $7. Added 2 plastic cross rails and voila!! Looks like I have some more room now for baits! Next on the list is to get the planer board mast ready and fix up my ice fishing sled with a larger wind break.
  9. Last year Moose and I bought the Sub Zeros - 4 man @ Canadian Tire Looked great set up in the living room. The poles kind of creaked on me setting it up at home which made me a bit nervous. As luck would have it Moose goes to set his up first time on Lake Muskoka last year and 2 poles snap. I talked to CTC and found they had a lot of broken returns on them. Took mine back before any damage could be done.
  10. Hookset Ran last summer beside 2 other 17-18 ft aluminums Lund and Princecraft. my 2 stroke just edged out a 4 stroke yamaha (Lund) but we both got left behind by the optimax (Princecraft) off the line and 2-3 miles down the lake. I was impressed OPtimax 115 is 375 lbs only - 4 stroke is 399lbs no biggy One spec I saw was the Optimax has a built in 60 amp altenator pushing 756 watts. Nice for keeping the battery topped up. Lights, livewell, sonar all day. I've run the battery dead once before. Not fun. The 4 stroke is ony 50amp/630 watt
  11. Best thing he can do is try and divert the outside water source from that area. Have a very hard look around the outside and try and find out where all the water is coming from. Is it natural drainage from the lawn, is there a drain spout from the eve troughs nearby?? Sounds like this is more than seepage and when it rains the run off stream is pooling into that spot. When you say the wall has been plugged - is that from the inside? I'm no engineer or contractor but I just wonder when water leaks are attempted to be fixed from the inside. Water has to be stopped from coming in contact with the foundation. The only real fix long term is to dig up and repair from the outside.
  12. I'm sure there will be debates on which way to go and without more detail about your boat and what the primary use of your motor will be I'll give you my 2 cents I have a 1750 crestliner fish hawk with a 115 HP Merc 2 stroke I've thought about replacing the motor a few times and would go Optimax before 4 stroke. I like speed and power more than trolling and gas efficiency. Optimax has better specs for top end speed and torque out of the whole The gas efficiency is quite impressive on the Optimax as well Check the weight specs as well. Is there a difference in warranty. I thought Merc 4 strokes were standard with 3 year warranty no depreciation
  13. Thanks for the detective work guys. After seeing the head and teeth I thought no way Great White. They have much more conical teeth and different dorsal but then started doubting as it's been a long time for me. Was fascinated with sharks as a kid and used to read everything I could get my hands on. Very impressive fish no doubt.
  14. I laughed at that picture of UB and myself in the boat. Do you realize I'm standing on top of the front casting platform and Goran (UB) is standing on the floor of the boat. He's still taller than me.
  15. Not much to report from my boat. Picked up Goran (Uncle Buck) early Sat and drove through some nasty fog to niagara. Met Lew, Squid and others at the boat ramp. Headed downstrem to Lake Eire and trolled a series of humps we found in 30 FOW. Tons of bait out there but you could read a bottle cap on the botom the water was so clear. Saw a lot of bass, walley guys out there. Headed back into the river and trolled cast a couple of rivermouth areas. Saw Lew and Squid fishing 1 spot so we decided to do some casting along shoreline. The whole shoreline from the river inlet down 100yds was covered in small shiners. If you ripped a bait through them you sliced up a couple dozen. Ended up drifting bulldawgs over some current breaks just off the baot ramp but no luck river was just way toooooo clear. Fished in nice sunny skis all day. never saw or heard of any other action.
  16. Yep still upper deck. The Becketts guide might still list em but last time i looked you had to get one of the annual guides
  17. keep me in mind as well Bill. Although I tend to keep all cards even if I get doubles, triples. I do the sets each year but take note No Crosby card. Guess he didn't get enough money I got a poster the other day that showed all cards. Sub sets are nice especially the goalie cards.
  18. Anyone use that marine planner site. I signed up and downlaoded a map . very easy but did I miss something I got a KAP file type and it comes up as an unknown file application. I guess I need to buy the mapping software?
  19. Do you mean QEW? River is open from Rebecca road allowance to Dundas till Dec 31 for trout. There is construction on the south side of QEW and guys used to walk down there from the car pool parking lot. You can still park there, walk across Bronte and slip past the fence by the gas station. You can't walk down the construction road. Petro Can park closed this week so access to this area is pretty limited for parking. Nothing to the south part of the river. It's all posted pretty much now. Used to park in the church beside the park entrance and walk down but they posted that too.
  20. Uncle Buck and I will be there! Hopefully I'll learn some things
  21. Thanks, with luck we'll see ya down there. Looks like I got a partner already VHF's on channel 16/72
  22. Hey Squid I hate the idea of putting the boat away so I'm considering heading down on Saturday. Set up for muskie but never fished upper river before. Can you give me a 25 cent run down on what to expect Trolling or casting? I see the big swim baits have been talked about - Storm, bulldawgs. Is there sufficent CDN water to fish or is it mostly on US side? I have a 1750 crestliner w/115 Merc, and an open seat if I go. Anyone vewing this board who has fished this area before but doesn't have a ride for the day PM me. I need some peer pressure to get me off my ars.
  23. The local cougars hang out at JJ's Bar and Grill in Bloomfiled. Saw a nasty mess of them a couple weeks ago.
  24. Both Moose and I bought beagle pups in September from ray's beagles just outside of Port Perry. Not exactly what you're loking for but thought I'd give you a reply. These are hunting dogs - high activity and very head strong but he does have pups that are more suited for couch dogs. Very affordable for a breeder of beagles. My pup is on the left.
  25. I seem to have started over at 1. Did Imiss something?
