  1. I launched my boat at Lauderdale Marine on Sparrow a couple of weeks back without any problem
  2. Sportsnet aired Coaches Corner 3 times that night if I am not mistaken. I do not know anything about the production but let's say the first airing is live. Then why did they air it 2 more times that evening if they had a problem with it? I don't find what Grapes said to be offensive but should the folks at Sportsnet not be held to the same standard that they holding Grapes to?
  3. Atta Boy Chuck! .......... will have to pick your brain when we have our boyz weekend.

  6. I've had a few chargers in my bass boats over the years. I have had Guest and Minn Kota Chargers that died or lost a bank. None of the chargers were as good as or as durable as the Dual Pro Charger I currently have. A few friends have the same charger in their boats and they too have been going strong for a few years.
  7. It used to be a spectacular bass fishery. Crazy numbers and crazy big sizes. Another thing that does not help is bulletin boards like this. Although I love reading posts and get green with envy over many of the photos, if you have any honey-holes, keep them a secret. Don't mention where you were, keep your "gems" a secret.
  8. The Personal Injury Alliance that you hear advertised on the radio are just about the best personal injury lawyers in Ontario. Give them a call. They all work on contingencies. If you/they settle, they get a percentage of the settlement and there are no other fees to pay.
  9. Have a look at a loc-r-bar. http://www.locrbar.com/ It's what I use and have no complaints about it.
  10. I use 50# yellow power pro and absolutely love it. I colour the last foot or so with a spike it garlic marker. I have fished in the clearest of water and never had a problem getting bit. There is nothing like the rope! I used to use leaders but realized that people fishing next to me with straight rope were not outfishing me at all. I only fish largemouth and think the only good smallmouth is the one that hits a flipping jig!
  11. From Ahmic Lake resort, it is a short boat ride to the channel into Beaver (or Neighbeck) Lake and from there you can get into Crawford Lake. Beaver and Crawford are lakes with good largemouth fishing, especially Crawford. Fish the obvious stuff!
  12. The last time I busted an HMX, I sent it to the Pure Fishing office in Manitoba. They wanted the rod with an explantion as to what happened and they quickly couriered another to me. I have had to do this twice in the past and each time they have been quick at getting me a replacement. The contact info I used then was Pure Fishing 815 Phillips Street Portage La Prairie, Manitoba R1N 3C5 (877) 857-3467 This was 3 or 4 years ago so hopefully things have not changed
  13. I fished the Ottonabee for miles over the weekend. The bite on Rice was slow so I fished the river for most of the day, flipping stick in hand. Bite was a little slow but ended up with a bunch of decent bass by the end of the day. My only advice is put the trolling motor and go. There are miles and miles of fallen trees. Just keep fishing the trees and you will get bit.
  14. Muddy Moose is located on Mississauga road just east of Erin Mills on the north side. Not sure of the time but 7:30 is a safe bet.
  15. If the argument is what is beneficial to the fish then why fish at all? Putting aside any conservation efforts, there is NOTHING that a fisherman does that is beneficial to the fish, whether the weekend angler or hardcore tournament fisherman. I have been on many lakes the day/week/2-weeks after a tournament and have never seen an any more or less dead bass than any lake where there has never been a tournemant.
  16. not used to seeing Jimmy with anything other than a green 'ole largie in his hands....nice fish!
  17. From Ahmic, you can access Beaver Lake and then Crawford Lake by boat. I last fished there 7 years ago but both of those lakes are shallow and had decent pike and largemouth fishing. Fish the shallow weed filled bays on Beaver and Crawford is mostly shallow and weedy.
  18. I have owned a number of different baitcast reels and my pearl of wisdom is this: better reels make using them easier and cheap ones will frustrate the s_it out of you. I would spend a few extra dollars and buy a Shimano. I have a fleet of curado's and they are the best, most durable, and easiest reels I have ever used. Say nothing of the fact of how durable they are. Can't speak for Daiwa but stay away from Abu and especially Quantum.
  19. I use either a Zoom Super Chunk (something like a bat-wing shape) or the Uncle Josh real pork (can't remember the name but shaped just like the Super Chunk). Good luck and keep "pitchin' the jig".
  20. I am certainly no expert but I believe the best colours are the ones you are confident with. I use 1/2 ounce so it always feels the same no matter what rod I use it with. If I want to slow down the fall I will move to a pork trailer. I am a firm believer in rattles. The loudest jigs around are lunker lure triple rattlebacks and strike king premier elite. I had it in my head for a number of years that I had to use black/blue if I was deeper than 6 feet (I remember reading somewhere that blue was the last colour to disappear the deeper you get). Lately I have been trying to use more greens and browns in deeper water in the hopes of being able to target smallmouth in addition to largemouth. I have had some success but am not sold on it yet. Gotta keep at'er to get the confidence up.
  21. Good report, especially on a couple of lakes that are notorious for tough bites. I fish the jig and pig 90% of the time and I find that nothing is more true than the saying "black and blue is always true". I myself only ever fish pure black, black blue, or black/brown (with matching trailers).
  22. I have had one for years and it has been good. I would recommend spending the extra bucks on a color unit because they are much easier to read at a glance.
  23. I've played with a number of different reels over the years and have come to like Shimano Curado's and Chronarch's. They are expensive reels but they make the job of using a baitcaster easier. I keep all the brakes off and the friction control backed right off so line comes off the reel without effort. As far as the techniques go, I pitch a bait at everything, whether it is 5 feet or 50 feet in front of me. I started flipping when I first found a love for bass fishing but once I learned how to pitch, I never needed to flip again. The real art is pitching a bait so there is a splashless entry or pitching a bait so it skips under a dock or tree and that comes with lots of practice. Every spring my neighbors think I am insane because I am on the patio piching to the cherry tree, fence, BBQ, my kid's toys, and under the picnic table. I am a tall person so I use flipping sticks for everything but plenty of people use shorter rods. I think the key is a heavy rod so you can drive the hook home and get a bass coming towards you before it wraps you up.
  24. Awesome pics and video.............now I can't wait until the weekend!
  25. My passion is largemouth fishing and I don't even have a spinning rod in my locker when I am out fishing for them. I use mostly medium heavy to heavy gear and I have no problems throwing weightless senko-type baits with them. If you want to buy a reel, spend the added money and buy a Shimano Curado. It will be easier to set up properly and when you do have it set up, birdsnests will be rare. My first casting reel was a cheap one and I never could set it up properly. I have some friends with lesser quality reels and I giggle at how much they struggle with their own equipment when fishing.
