  1. Finally the old tiller VS console debate lol. I have a 1989 Ranger with the 150 0n it. It is a great boat for fishing and getting around from spot to spot quickly.  The 1989 GT 150 burns 8/10 of a gallon every minute with a 28 gallon tank doing 55 mph. With a few mods you can turn it into a GTX 150 and burn 9/10th gallon at 60 mph. I will say it needs to do 20 mph before it sets it nose and rides on the pad like it should. Wakes and waves are easily dealt with using common sense and goodspeed and trim adjustments. While looking at bass boats check the coring and structural carefully  recoring a bassboat is not cost effective and easily overlooked. The newer Rangers from 1990 did away with wood encapsulation and the pad was redesigned for more stability. The 1989 was the last year of the IMHO best pad for speed and tracking .

  2. John has been a great supporter of this community He has taken an ad out with us for a few years now to help us pay the bills. My personal dealing with John and Barbara have been a blessing and a joy. I am sure there are quite a few people here who have been very happy with his business and services.

  3. A good plan is to  use an investor to build a portfolio and then take a grand or so and play with it. If you pay with money you can't afford to lose you will get burned. An investment company is a 24/7 job for them and the information they have you will never get ahold of in time to save your assets.

  4. A good reminder that bigger boats have some bad blind spots. A horn should be on every boat regardless of size. The guy in the big boat was completely in the wrong  but that doesn't matter if the smaller boaters are hurt or killed. Be safe soft water season is coming.

  5. I have been coon hunting down south and it is really an experience. The group of hunters waiting by the truck as the hounds voices cut thru the night. The passing of a bottle and the lies spun as you wait for the hounds to tree a coon. The walk thru the woods in the dark to where the hounds are sounding off and jumping up the tree are all part of the heritage. The final shot and the collecting of the coon destine for the pot and the fur to be cured and sold all have a place in the part of growing up down South. For some it is barbaric for others it is a rights of passage. I personally have never shot a cat or a bear because they are rare here and I will not tan or eat them. The foxes are allowed to live in the woods of my house as long as they leave the chickens alone. They get trapped and the tail gets a spot of orange if they get trapped and they still have an orange tail they are dispatched with ether and buried.  Hunting is a choice that i am glad I have with a deer in the freezer we have venison to eat along with lots of other tasty meats.

  6. I haul a ranger boat with 150 Motor loaded driving from Virginia to Canada Sudbury 14 hours straight doing up to 75 MPH with no issues. I use a temperature gun to keep track of the bearings and tire temperature with no issues. I run them 3 trips back ad forth then replace them to be safe. This is pretty brutal on them and the radials do run cooler.  I run them around local 60 miles one way about 20 times a year. so 2000 a year or 6000 before I replace them. I only had  one blowout before going to this routine since then flat failure free.
