I think losing Roman Polak was a big factor in the Leafs losing, the guy weighs 235lbs and clears the front of the net really good. Babcock was relying on him to be the guy to kill penalties and play the last 2 minutes of the game. going to be interesting who the Leafs lose in the expansion draft.

I definitely find Gartner very frustrating to watch, I am sure the Leafs waiting at the blue line are wondering what he is doing back there, he definitely kills the momentum and flow of the game. Gartner definitely has a good hard snapshot and should try and use it more. Another Leaf is Zaitsev, I think he closes his eyes when he shoots from the point, probably puts it on net 10% of the time,

if you sit Zaitsev, Marchenko is his replacement. another option might be to give Carrick and Marincin more of Zaitsev's minutes. It seemed like Gardiner handled the puck a lot last night, too much for my liking, I think the other defensemen give it gardener too much and should try and make the plays themselves dumping off the boards or moving it up to the forwards. the Leafs gave the puck away 29 times last night versus the Caps who gave it away 9 times, I think most of those were behind the leafs goal line playing with the puck.

looks liked the injury was caused when he fell on the ice, but I think Orpik stuck his knee out to make knee on knee contact and deserves a suspension.

I guess the big question for the Leafs coaching staff is whether they rest some player's, Columbus is a physical team and you don't need anybody getting hurt before the playoffs. The Leafs rookies have been outstanding this year but in the last couple of weeks the veteran's have stepped up their games, Kadri,Komarov,JVR,Bozak all have been very good recently especially Kardi. On the winning goal it was Kadri who was screening the goalie in front of the net.

would have been nice if they gave the defence man a kneeing penalty on Matthews, also think it should warrant a suspension.

I think the last time we played Tampa we had a lot of shots from the point and screened their goalie pretty good, it is something we have to get to back to, it seems like we are getting a lot of pretty goals and we need some off deflections in front of the net. Tyler Bozak and all leaf forwards need to get the puck up under the crossbar to score when in close, hopefully they are well rested and ready to go on Thursday .

honestly, I had no idea this was such a common thing, if you do a google search there are lots of articles on this subject, and thank you to Cliff for bringing this to everybody's attention. One of the articles says the extra charges could total between $1 billion and $2.5 billion yearly in the states. definitely going to check more thoroughly and if it's only a few cents , I am still going to take it to customer service

does the NHL even review the play since there was no penalty called? I think Crosby deserved a couple of games, although the slash didn't look too bad except for the outcome. The one rule I'd like the NHL to adopt is if you run into the goalie in the crease it should be a 5 minute major, they would think twice about running the goalie or falling on them , goalies are too valuable to teams and can't afford to lose them.

I'd prefer if the Leafs make the playoffs, the last few games leading up to the playoffs should be exciting.

Bozak was questionable for the game and didn't participate in the morning skate, I have never seen him play with so much energy, maybe he should skip the morning skate more often.

I think Babcock should tell Gardiner if you try to clear the puck up the middle you are going to sit the next game, do that for 2 or 3 games and he might smarten up

tough loss for the Leafs last night. I wish the defence would take more slap shots from the point, they seem to like to take wrist shots and the majority of them are blocked. Polak seems to be the only guy taking slap shots from the point.

anybody have any stats on how many cars or trucks are stolen in one day? in some areas vehicles are stolen and driven around for a few days as their daily transportation and then dumped .
