  1. Very impressive. What awesome fans the Laffs have.
  2. Yeah, but by the time they do that they're all in their fifties. I don't recall anybody saying playing defense was easy. All ya gotta do is work your butt off. Any other talent is a bonus.
  3. That set the bar "lower". The season's not over yet, so hang in there, As for a parade route. It doesn't matter. Each of the Laffs will go their own way and do their own thing claiming that , "we gotta try harder"! It ends at the golf course. I'm just sniping, right Phil?
  4. I don't like the Leafs, period. But I do like a good hockey game. Often we only have a Leaf game to watch here, so I watch it. I don't care if Edmonton is playing Buffalo as long as the teams are playing as hard as they can, I'll watch. Mistakes happen and different skill level are always apparent , BUT I admire hard working players. I just don't see enough of that with the Leafs. The first line should be the gem on any team. It sets the tone for the rest of the other lines. Not happening with Phil. I've grown tired of all the lame excuses. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THE LACK OF A WORK ETHIC! When the 3rd and 4th lines are the class of the team there is something terribly wrong. At 10 million a season I'd be cleaning the toilets at the end of each game too. It takes very little skill to check and play defensive hockey. It is a mental thing and team culture that certain player simple demonstrate that it is beneath them. That type of culture becomes contagious. The result is failure. I am not saying Kessel should have 100 hits a game but for goodness sakes how many times have I seen him skate backwards to get out of the way of an opposing player that is carrying the puck to the Leafs zone. A PeeWee player will try to check a player like that and yet the 10 million dollar man can't? Oh yeah, "he's a sniper". That is just crap. This is the NHL, anybody can be a snipe if they loaf around between the blue lines and wait for the "breakout pass". That's the new NHL? I love Boston and LA. They just grind you to death. Good old fashion hockey. They out work most teams, and that's why they win. They are NOT the best team offensively but everybody hates to play them. The Habs have a nice mixture of grit and talent, love watching them. You work both ways or you're gone. That's what the Leafs should be doing. Fixing the Leafs is easy. Kick their butts. Carry your weigh or get left behind.
  5. Foreign territory. Never been there before, must have lost his way. -1 for the night. For the record the DIDN'T loose 11 in a row, they got 1 point(tie) in there so they are WINLESS 11 in a row. How about those SENS!
  6. Just got back home. Looking at what you get fro $188 US that seems a little steep. Angling Specialties carries a lot of bits and pieces and components. With the low Canadian dollar plus shipping and handling I'd limit my purchases from the US for a while. A lot of that stuff you can make out of wood yourself and save a pile of dough. I started over 40 years ago when it was way harder to get components. I still use the rod wrapper that I made 40 years ago. A low rpm motor can usually be found at a yard sale for a couple of bucks. It's a great hobby that will keep you busy all winter long searching for bits. Unless you are planning to do commercial custom work you don't need the fancy motorized rod handle cork lathe. I have built over a hundred rods turning them by hand. Enjoy.
  7. Other than the rod components that make up the rod (blank, guides, epoxy, cork or cork grips or foam grips, thread, colour preserver, etc) you will need: sand paper for sanding the cork cork press if using individual corks- make your own as it is cheaper rod wrapper to wrap the guides - make your own slow rotating motor to rotate the rod while epoxy finish is drying - BBQ rotary motor works well rod supports to hold rod parallel to the floor while it rotates - make your own masking tape cheap disposable artist brushes (small) mixing containers for mixing epoxy finish Syringes for measuring the epoxy finish epoxy thinner Archery hot melt glue for putting on tip tops - don't use epoxy
  8. The Laffs would turn him into a "magic hands sniper" that loafs at the blue line . Unfortunately from what I've seen Connor gets physical and is already a real hockey player. Phil could mentor him. Show him how to avoid injuries....
  9. How much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ will they offer to kill his career?
  10. That's not what I said. Eve if a team move up 4 spots then the teams get pushed down one spot and those picks are set. So they can only drop one spot.
  11. There is NO such position in hockey called "sniper". I checked. A lump of coal is still a lump of coal no matter what you call it. Phil would do well on a woman's team.
  12. That's a pretty strong statement there Akrisoner. The last place team is guaranteed one of the first or second picks in the draft. A team CANNOT drop more than one place in the draft picks. Buffalo or Edmonton will get either a first or second pick depending which one ends up last. Toronto's chance's of getting there are slim at best. Right now they have a 7.5% chance or about 1 in 14. Stranger things have happened but I wouldn't bet on it. Time to get rid of the deadwood on this team and rebuild. As for Babcock, why would he leave a highly successful team like Detroit? The "Toronto" attraction is way over rated.
  13. Ten in a row. And no Ottawa bashing to boot. No Boston Bashing, No Montreal Bashing. Laffs 3rd and 4th lines are embarrassing the Loafs elite ( ) line. 3rd and 4th lines played the game the way it is supposed to be played. Time for fatboy to start earning that 10mil.
  14. Should have, could have , would have, etc. Carroll has always been a gambler. In the first half with 6 seconds to go afield goal try was the obvious thing to do. He gambled and they score a touchdown. Suddenly he's a genius. Now all the nay sayers call it a dumb play at the end. If the pass is 6 inches to the right, it would have been caught. If the defense was not just perfect that pass is a TD. New England and and the rest of the world expected a running play. We all expect the running play to score, I wonder what the New England defense was thinking? The interception was a split second decision and it worked. Pete Carroll got them there by gambling, just look at the previous game against Green Bay. These are pros. They know what they are doing. Shuolda, woulda and coulda are great after the play. It came this close to working. Good call. The gambler lost .......this time. I didn't like either team and I watched because it is the Super Bowl. Great game.
  15. Need about 10 Connor McDavids to fix this team.
  16. I think I just spit into my coffee... Kessel - third star..... Ottawa scored more goals yesterday b than the Laffs have in there last eight games.
  17. Sens won today and are now 1 point ahead of the Laffs with games still in hand.
  18. L = Losers E = Even A = After F = Forty-nine S = Seasons What no Montreal or Ottawa digs?
  19. As much as I'd like to pour some salt, I won't.
  20. Yup, keep that Taranta tradition going for another 48 years.
  21. I 'm an Ottawa fan, but even I can't watch this anymore. This is a sad excuse for a game. The Sens are doing anything they want. Wow. Nice fight Dion (sarcasm). Fire the stick boy.
  22. And fat boy coasted in just as the puck went into the net. Oh those magic hands huh?
  23. Yup he's streaky all right. A big yellow one right down his back. He's half a player and you define him as "streaky". Watched Pittsburgh and Philly last night. Two real teams giving it all, and I don't like either team, the game was very entertaining. Good old hockey.
