I have a 2013 Lund ProV and it's going back to the factory this winter. I have about 15-20 rivets falling out of the bottom. Glove box is falling off, drivers windshield is popping out along the bottom, screws coming out everywhere. This is my last aluminum boat, next will be fibreglass.

@ jtracc you are right. I should have elaborated on what I posted. The Simms is way over the top for your average angler. I fish walleye tournaments and am in really nasty weather more times than not. The BPS and Cabela's suits would be more than adequate for the average angler. In fact I see a lot of pro' s wearing the same suits. Just keep your eyes open for a sale on what ever you decide to purchase.

I rig mine to run as straight as possible, less chance of your harness balling up on itself.

Anything with Goretex is good quality. With Fall coming up there should be some sales popping up at Cabela's and BPS. Cream of the crop would be Simms Pro Dry. I have the Simms and can vouch for it's quality. Light and breathable. I also have and use Frabil FXE and like it too. I tend to wear the Frabil when it's cooler out as it's a heavier outfit.

Exactly, live bait out produces plastics most of the time. The bigger the worm the better. If you're still having trouble you might want to try Lindy rigging along the deep weed edges. I usually Lindy on clear hot sunny days.

Water temp is pretty warm. How fast are you trolling? I would be tempted to start at 1.5 to 1.8 MPH and go from there.
-
Are there certain areas on this lake that are more desirable to rent or own? I just don't want to rent a place on a shallow bay full of weeds.
-
Good luck on the fishing! We're hoping to rent on Bobs this summer too. This will likely be our last summer renting and then we'll buy a cottage. The lake looks like it's big enough with points and bays that it'll likely take you 20 years to learn the lake. We've rented on big and small lakes and this one looks to be the perfect size. Not to hijack the thread but I think I've read somewhere that you can get a small boat from Bobs into Crow? Maybe someone can clarify that?

I've been told by several people that when you order " Fresh Water Cod " in the restaurant, you are actually getting Burbot. Maybe someone can confirm this?

The same thing has happened on Lesser Slave Lake in Alberta. The FIL swears up and down that 8-10 lb'ers were common back in late 80's early 90's. There are a lot of people there blaming the netting for the decline. Now days you would be hard pressed to catch a 4 pounder.

I run the Frabill Storm Suit. I tournament fish and have spent days in the rain. I really like this gear. I think I paid around 350 on sale for the setup.

I have both and I find the app usefull for scouting out a new lake before you even leave the house.

My garage is 24Wx22D and my boat only has inches to spare with a swing away tongue. They take up way more room than you think.

As someone else previously mentioned, Tyee. Great fishing boat, the layout makes it perfect for trolling and hauling the family around. I was in a similar situation as yourself a year ago. My kids are at the age where dad isn't "cool" to hang around with. My wife only likes being out in glass calm water. I ended up getting a 1875 ProV. It suits my lab and I just perfect!

Sorry, what I was trying to suggest is to buy a twin cylinder engine. I think the smallest made now are 8hp.
-
If you have the room, I would suggest getting a 2cyl 4 stroke - 8 hp? I have a 4 hp single cyl 4 stroke and it does shake. It works ok, but a twin would be the ticket. Last I checked BPS had the best deals on outboards. I would also suggest getting a high thrust prop as well. Way better for fine tuning trolling speeds and boat control.
-
I would go with a Pacific Energy or a Blaze King Princess model. Might cost more than a grand to find a used one but you'll be money ahead after using it for a season.

Hey Bare Foot, if you want to hit Slave Lake this year just PM and maybe we can hook up. I assume you live around Fort St. John? I'm in GP. When the bite is hot in June it's nothing to catch 150-200 walleye in 6-7 hours!

Hopefully he'll grow up to be as big as this bad boy. My buddy found these sheds last winter BTW.

Where I live and work it is world class big game hunting. I work in the bush every day and in a year I would be very lucky to see 30-40 elk. They are very elusive animals, kinda like the mountain lions.

Not Something You'd Expect To See in Ontario...

About 10 years ago I was visiting family in the Perth area and on the way to the airport we had one cross Hwy 7 right in front of us. It was black and easily 8 ft long with it's tail stretched out. It's pretty rare to see a cougar. I suspect they must be following the food source.
