  1. Great bookmark indeed, thanks. But to be honest the only knot you really need to know for fresh water fishing is the Palomar knot. I use this one 99% of the time and the other 1% is used for the Uni to uni knot strictly for leaders. If you haven't tried the Palomar knot I highly suggest giving get it a try I'venever had a knot give on me and it's super easy to do.
  2. Net Bait paca craws are amazing I use them as trailers, flipping with a punch weight, texas, carolina, even weightless or shakey head, skys the limits with these things, But my go to jig trailer is the zoom ultravibe speed craw. For colours I usually stick to my pumpkins and watermelons, but I also like my blues and purples. every one has a go to bait but these soft plastic craws are definitely mine.
  3. I have never had a problem with purchasing stuff at my local CTC in keswick butttttt...... I will never take my car there to get fixed just saying
  4. Yea but soft plastics have endless possibilities. You can t-rig em, c-rig em, weightless em, finess em, drag em, swim em, it never stops !
  5. I thought it was a great idea. I'm always scared to spend money on new baits that I don't have confidence in. Like you said Paluch it forces me to try new baits and hey if I hit a gem well.... I'll just buy more. Cheers
  6. Back to school on Wednesday hopefully I can still get out on the ice

  7. Awesome that's what I was hopping for Cheers Jeremy
  8. Yes bacon and eggs always makes a good day of ice fishing and you bet I slept hard. My back was burning like crazy but that's ok because I haven't been to the gym since I have been off on holidays. I needed a nice workout lmao.
  9. Hey thx for trying to help out my buddie that was nice of you.. Glad u caught something I would of been happy with anything ! Hopefully my luck will be better next time I head out.
  10. Hi all, Just signed up on mystery tackle box I thought I would give it a try as they have a first time deal for only $4.99. Does any one know if I will be charged for shipping because I live in Canada. It states on the website that its free shipping to Canada. Does this mean free shipping to Canada and only to Canada or is that free shipping right to your door? Its not such a good deal If I'm getting charged addition fees.
  11. I always wanted one of these in my backyard but I grew up in the city and there was no room. Great video your kids gonna love it!
  12. if he picked it up at the right time he might of caught a stingray. pretty cool vid
  13. Yea that sounds great well said my friend well said. That sounds like a great idea give me a pm when your around.
  14. Hey Jeremy, Thanks for the feedback. I will take that all into account next time I go out. I'm pretty sure the fish on the screen were either white fish or lake trout but most likely lake trout as the fish looked huge on the screen, way to big for perch but possible a large white fish. I tried several retrieves fast, slow, choppy, ect... but maybe your right maybe my offering was to big. I will try switching up my bait size and I'm going to pick up a few tip ups for my next outing. trying to figure out what they want is the best part that's why I love going out for bass in the summer. Its all learning curve and I did have blast on the ice thanks
  15. Must be nice having 5 backups I only got 2 setups lol!
  16. Hello community, Went out on a fishing trip last Saturday for lake trout on K bay with my buddy Anthony. 5 am we headed out and half way there (25 min drive) I realized I had totally forgot to renew my fishing licence. With no stores open and no idea where the closest place was, I was in a panic. Thank god for technology as Anthony told me I can renew it over the internet. Good thing Anthony had his credit card on him as I was able to renew my licence and save the temp PDF on my phone. Not the best start to a day but it was a start indeed. We arrived and parked waiting for Anthony's friend Steve and his family to arrive watching the parking lot fill up within minutes. finally they had arrived with no where to park so we helped them unload and pointed them in the right direction to find parking close by. 20 minutes pass as we anxiously wonder where the hell they are we get a phone call from Steve, they had fallen into a 4 ft deep ditch. :rofl2:Steve met up with us while his wife waited for CAA to finally start our adventure. We could not believe the amount of people on the ice. As far as I could see in every direction was ice hut after ice hut just like a little village, It blew my mind. So we walked out about a kilometer and set up in pretty nasty winds good thing there was 4 of us as we set up 1 pop-up at a time. Once we got settled in I pulled out the mini stove and started working on breakfast ( good old bacon and eggs) while Anthony drilled the holes and got the buddy heater blasting. after the holes were drilled out, rods baited, bellies full and a nice warm hut, IT WAS TIME TO FISH. Regardless of a fun day on the ice cooking bacon and eggs and having a bunch of laughs me and my baddie could not seem to catch any fish. So at 3:30 we packed up dragged the equipment up a huge steep slippery hill and loaded up our vehicles. I was exhausted after dragging a sled packed to the limit up that brutal hill, I was ready for dinner. While I was fishing here is what I did, I would let my lure drop to the bottom and then reel up 5-10 feet then jig until a fish would show up on the fish finder. I was told to reel up so that the fish would chase my lure but every time I did that either the fish would go right back to the bottom or chase it for a bit then go back down. I tried using a jig head with a big swim bait, spoons, live sucker, tipped spoons and even a rapala jig. We seen a ton of fish show up on the fish finder and 2 nice chases but no luck. I'm sure I just need more experience as it was my first time fishing lake trout but, is there something I'm doing wrong? Should I be jigging on the bottom to entice a strike or should I use the reel up method for a chase? Any advice would be much appreciated Thanks and hope u enjoyed my little report. Johnny boy
  17. I have heard that LOUD bang 3 times in the last week and a half and its always during the night time. Each loud bang woke me up out of bed freaking me right out. The first time I thought someone in my house fell out of bed so I checked on every one in my house. The second time I was convinced our house was haunted or that I was having some serious plumbing issues. Thank god I finally know what it is.
  18. going out for lake trout tomorrow!

  19. The good old backlash My worst must of been the first time I got a shimano curado. I just spooled it with real expensive flouro and within 5 mins on the water I had backlashed so hard I had to throw out 40 percent of my new line I had just put on. It didnt stop me by the way I kept fishing and it turned out to be a pike fest. I love my curado hands down the best reel I have ever purchased I have had it for 5 years now and it works like I bought it yesterday.
  20. HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL !!!! woot woot best of luck and health to you all in the new year
  21. doesn't get much better than that, well said!!
  22. For me I just enjoy seeing other people doing and enjoying what I enjoy. I also like coming on this forum because 1, I'm from ontario and 2, I want to grow as an avid fisherman and learn as much as I can. I have not been on this forum long enough to comment in to much depth or bash on anyone but I find that very sad that people are scared to post their trips because of fear of a fishing hole being destroyed or being bullied or heckled. For me I don't care if people want to bash me I will just ignore them and I thank every one of you for your advice.
  23. I was on the ice today and caught a few perch. over all I'm pretty happy how the rod felt and worked but I 100% need a new reel, its already pissing me off. It was a short day sadly due to 56 Kph WIND GUSTS It just got way to cold out. We fished for 2 hours and then took off. Caught about 40 perch mostly dinks. I was just glad I finally got out on the ice.
