  1. I'm from Hamilton and currently living there while I'm in school. I actually live up in Keswick with my girlfriend and I will be back here for good in April once I'm done. Problem is we only have one car and she uses it for work. Unfortunately I'm carless in Hamilton .
  2. hey all, Ended up getting a medium-light Fenwick rod at CTC. They had a bunch of HT, lightning rods (untra lights only) and a bunch of other brands I was not to sure about. The Fenwick has a pretty sensitive tip, a pretty nice backbone, looked quality and felt the best in my hand plus it was only 30 bucks even though I'm sure I could of found it else where cheaper. I'm going on the ice tomorrow and I didn't feel like going all the way to sail or bass pro. The reel I have on temporarily is crap and I will for sure be looking into getting a new reel in the near future. Has any one used the BPS Tiny Lite spinning reel? It seems perfect for a ice setup at a great price. BPS Tiny Lite - http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-TinyLite-Spinning-Reel/product/91147/ I also got a spring tip but it seems real cheap ($1.99 made by sub zero) and the shrink wrap that was suppose to hold it onto the rod wouldn't even go over the first eye. I used electrical tape for now just to try it out but I think it might just get in the way if its constantly falling off all the time. I will be on the Ice tomorrow bright and early I will post back with a fishing report when I get home. Thanks for all the advice from you all cheers! Johnny Boy
  3. Hey moose, Amazing reports almost like Reading a book, keep doing what your doing you inspire me! Merry X-Mas and happy Newyear. Johnnyboy

  5. Buahahah, that did bring a tear to my eye. O man that was funny
  6. Do you guys think the rod is better to throw more money into or the reel because i have a crap reel i just cant stand the rod it has LITERALLY NO FEEL, If a shark hit it i probably wouldn't know. I just want something that feels good in my hand im gonna go over to CT and then SAIL after X-Mas to check out the lightning rods, ugly sticks and st.croix to see what feels good for the the price. I see lots of frabrill at CT and if I can find one I like I might just skip SAIL its 45 mins from where I am and my car is in the shop. . My buddie has this 28" meat stick from CLAM I cant seem to find it anywhere but he loves it to death any one know where i might be able to find it?
  7. Yea I was looking at the st.croix what one do you recommend, premier or legend? Also i was looking at the meat stick from CLAM any thoughts on that one? jay27 what does HT mean? GBW what does CTC stand for? I actually have a Berkley lighting rod but its not for ice fishing, its a UL rod I use strictly for spring crappie and pan fishing.
  8. Hello community, Looking to get a new ice fishing rod for perch/walleye, Any opinions ? I would like to keep it under 50 bucks if possible and If you think i should spend the extra money on a rod as I would like it to last at least 3-4 seasons please let me know. Also I have a cheap reel from crappy tire i would like to throw on the rod and eventually when it breaks i will upgrade. If you guys have any suggestions on reels please let me know. Thanks Johnnyboy
  9. hi Irishfield, Oh man Georgian bay is a true fishing paradise one of my favorite places to fish, Spring for pike, summer for LM and SM bass and fall for musky (even though I've yet to catch one ) Sadly its way to far for me to go right now. Cant wait to finish school and get my car and boat combo , thanks for the reply Johnnyboy
  10. Hello community, I CANT WAIT TO GET OUT!!! 3 weeks off school and I would love to get out on the ice to catch me some crappie or whatever is biting right now. I see Fishmasters posting some nice catches and I will probably give it a try sometime during this week (hopefully tomorrow ). I don't drive so I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good hut rentals or local spots that are SAFE close to the grand, on the grand, or near Hamilton ? I'm only in Hamilton for this week, after this week ill be fishing up at lake Simcoe for them JUMBO perch. Hopefully I can make the best of my time off as I will be right back into school mode and no fishing for another 3 months . Thanks Johnnyboy
  11. I guess I should participate in this aswell... Bass - Wackyworm, flippin jig, and Crankbait pike - Jerkbait & spinnerbait cant ever go wrong throwing a MEPPS! and lets not forget the shakey head when those bass just arnt biting!
  12. thought it would be fun to post a topic on everyone's favorite tackle. It can be hooks, jerkbaits, crankbaits, spinnerbaits, soft plastics, anything that puts the fish in your boat... What is your go to lure and technique while fishing for your favorite game fish?
  13. mooneye eh never would of guessed thanks a lot.
  14. I know what carp look like and they were not carp.. I have also seen carp do similar things but they were way to small and the wrong colour.
  15. Yea np rich. I actually have a few questions you might be able to answer? When I was fishing channel cats, fish were jumping all around me at first I thought maybe they were crappie because they were shiny and silver on the side and darker blackish colour on the top. Untill I seen one go to the surface and realized it was a trout ( not sure if it was a rainbow, brown or brook). Weird part about it was every once and a while a fish would stick it's head out of the water about 4 inches almost like it was gulping for air and swim a foot or so like that. Any idea if it was a trout or not? if so what kind? is this normal behaviour for a trout if it is one? Trout is open next week and I have never caught one any tricks or tactics on catching these beautiful fish? (I do not fly fish)
  16. Hello all, So I took your advice's and went to the grand river in Dunville caught a crap load of channel cats, had a great time, and the weather was beautiful. Got about 15 channel cats, not bad for a first trip. The cats I got were not very big, my largest was about 4 lbs...( I hear they can get up to like 25 pounds ). To sum up the day I had a blast and next time ill catch me a big one . Thanks for the advice Rich & davey buoy, cheers!
  17. Awsome thanks a lot guys. Tomorrow morning I`m going to head to the grand, looks like Dunnville it is. I will post back on how my day went, wish me luck .
  18. Hello, I would like to start by saying I'm new to this forum and hello to all. I'm currently living in Hamilton while I'm in school and I'm not to sure where to fish around here. not looking to travel to far because I don't drive. I don't own a boat either so I will be shore fishing. I understand nothing is open right now but I have 2 weeks off school till next semester and I'm itching to catch me some fish( so glad winter is over it felt like forever). Looking for some Big channel cats this week and maybe get into some brook, rainbow, or brown trout in a week from now. I hear the grand is good for both cats and trout but its such a big river I don't even know where to start. If anyone could point me in the right direction at the grand or on some good fishing waters that would be great.(You can PM me if you would like) Thanks Johnnyboy
