I'll go with the tape over the knot idea, since this is my salmon casting outfit, i'd like to keep as much braid on there as i can
-
so i got out to the pier last night to see if any salmon are lurking yet, no deal. but i did have an issue with my line, the spool of line started to free spin on the reel spool, 15lb braid p-line has anyone else had this issue on a spinning reel?
on a side note, unspooling and respooling line with no flashlight and then trying to tie a surgeons knot in the dark, is nomt recommended lol, had to use the light from my ipod to try and see, only lost about 20yrds of line due to the birds nest from unspooling

As the derby progresses the fish start getting smaller. That fish has reached its prime. now it's down hill. Every year that happens, the largest fish is caught in the first week.
so you're sayimg the females get smaller as they GAIN 5-10lbs in eggs???
-
don't be surprised to see more 40lb + salmon this summer, specially when they start to produce eggs
-
you can fly fish from a boat, just picked up some bass poppers lol
-
haha, sorry misfish, my next rod will be a 7 wt switch, either that or a 3wt for resident trout on the dry fly

you'll never be done, you have the grand and notty around you, eventually you'll have every weight rod, including spey and or switch rods

i know that they are a good product, ijust can't support them, even though they are buying out the competition ie ross reels/rods and SA

as much as that is a good deal, i can't bring myself to use an orvis

Nice report. If you keep feeding that bear it will associate humans with food, be careful.
looks like it already does....won't be long before mnr handles it

LOL talk about large arbor

a 200k boat ride isn't abnormal, trent severn waterway anyone? just not on the open waters of georgian bay lol
-
You might want to let your friend know that if a storm rolls by the waves can and do hit about 4-6 ft with swells that leave you speaking to God....
He better buy one hell of a good boat or a reliable truck.
I would go with the truck....
not only this, but imagine loading your boat with all your gear as well, if it was only a 20km boat ride, go for it, 200km forget about

been hearing from the charter guys about the abundance of baitfish this year. could lead to some 4olb+ fish this summer, can';t wait to hit these guys and gals in august/september

personally i'd require them to have a valid OFAH card as well

All three of those companies monitor our board. It'd be best to contact them in person with your grievances. Some will answer and some may not...you'll then know where you stand. Thanks.
their online customer service has been great, it the way some of the employees treat you in store that has me not wanting to shop there
-
you should see the responses I got! 10 in less than 24hrs, all with the knowledge that it's only a single season lease. Already have some solid options, including someone who apparently appears on hunting shows. I've decided that I'm happy with $500 for a single season. So far, it seems I'm either perfectly priced or slightly below market based on response.
If the lease goes very well, I'll share the land next year, as I'll be able to bag my deer very easily on my own property.
Thanks for the input so far everyone! keep it coming
just make sure people don't gut deer where you want to hunt, its a death zone and any future deer will stay away
-
Ooh, I dunno how it works at BPS but at my store that means they filed it under 'trash' lol
if thats the case, then they'll have to escort me out of the store
-
keep in mind you will have food plots, tree stands, armed people in the bush, cleared shooting lanes and little use of your property during the hunting seasons (turkey, deer) anyone that i know of that has property they can hunt, will offer up part of their kill as a thank you

its now being forwarded to the store manager for further review

for most items i do keep the receipt, I lost it when we moved 3 month ago, and it being a bass pro brand, should have been just a straight exchange, I sent an unpleasent email to them this morning
-
maybe i'll give them a call tomorrow, i have the gift card from the store credit, so i don't know what they can do

heres the transcript from the online customer service
[07:58:47 AM] Hi, my name is Cynthia. How may I help you?
[08:00:22 AM] : Hello,I just have a question, I purchased a pair of White River Osprey waders back in August, they have since gotten a leak in 2 of the seams, is it possible to return these for an exchange>
[08:01:24 AM] Cynthia: One moment please.
[08:03:20 AM] Cynthia: Was the purchase in the store or online?
[08:03:40 AM]Me: in store at the Vaughan, Ontario location
[08:05:40 AM] Cynthia: Since White River Fly Shop is a Bass Pro brand, you may return it to the store, since it is within the 1 year warranty period.
[08:07:17 AM] Me: thank you, I have either lost or thrown the receipt out, will this be an issue?
[08:07:47 AM] Cynthia: If you purchased with a debit/credit card or used your Rewards, they will be able to lookup the transaction in their records.
[08:09:03 AM] Me: ok, i used a $50 gift card +debit
[08:09:24 AM] Cynthia: They should still be able to use that information to find the purchase.
[08:09:43 AM]Me : ok, thank you for your help
[08:09:53 AM] Cynthia: You're welcome. Thank you for contacting Bass Pro Shops. Have a great day!

if you're burning 200 litres, you're travelling a big distance. i'll put it to you in caveman speak, i can travel in my 5.3L v8 engine truck, 350km and only use about 50-60L of gas, if i was pulling a boat, might be 80-100L, now,my dad has an 86 searay, with a 4.3L V8 merc, 220hp I beleive, 21ft boat, a full tank of gas will last a little over a week, and thats boating every single day.
bass boats are feather weights compared to that, they have 200hp motors, they get to a spot quickly, and then shut down and switch to their ELECTRIC trolling motor. the big motor is used only for travelling from spot to spot, as the saying goes, time is money
