  1. Terrible day for sure with a huge loss of life well. Helpless feeling not being able to do much to help out but we sent some money up to the relief fund (Red Cross if I remember correctly) and hopefully it helped someone who suffered so much.
  2. Cold over my way last night too
  3. Thanks Fred, that's a great story indeed.
  4. It'll be good for the family to finally have closure on this TJ
  5. Unfortunately your 100% correct. I read bigcreekdad's comment and to me it came across as nothing more than a joke, infact pretty funny I thought, but as you say the written word far too often comes across completely different than what was intended. Sad but true.
  6. Good to see you and the kids having such a great time Matt and some really nice fish for everyone too.
  7. Funny you put that picture up Mark because I went out again after posting my picture and that's exactly what I saw, those huge dots on the wings. I went back in to get my camera and he took off. Really a beautiful critter !!
  8. Yeah Joey, that's what I thought too.
  9. Spotted this girl this morning and don't think I've ever seen one of these before but she sure is purty. Measures about 1 1/2 " wide.
  10. I just hope they don't fill up on walleye Raf, I like 'em hungry....real hungry
  11. If I'm fishing alone I always wear my auto-inflate Mustang but if I have a partner I sometimes don't wear it. A few years back myself & Wayne (Irishfield) were casting the West Arm of Nip and were visited by the local OPP boat. He asked for all the usual stuff but said he couldn't see any PFD's and I told him they were in the locker just below my feet. He said they weren't easily accessible sitting in a locker and suggested if we weren't gonna wear them, he'd rather see them hanging over the back of the seat. Made sense to me and now-a-days that's where they are all the time even if I'm wearing the auto-inflate. Decent guy doing his job and who knows, maybe that suggestion may even save someones life someday....maybe even mine.
  12. As long as the Nipissing muskies are hungry starting June 20th life will be good.
  13. I've been stopped many times by the OPP and have never had a single unpleasant experience with them personally. Last year though I witnessed what in my opinion was nothing but a power trip for an OPP officer and I even posted about it here. We were in a cabin on Nippissing and a couple guys from the next cabin were out in a boat when they were stopped. They were each wearing life jackets and had 2 more laying on the seats beside them. The one being worn by the boat driver had a tear in the back and he was given a fine for that, even though the 2 spare jackets were in good shape. He told the cop he didn't even have to lawfully wear a jacket but preferred to be safe. Rather than just suggesting he put on a better jacket the cop pulled the power trip card and hit him heavy in his wallet. Absolutely NO need for that kind of harrassment.
  14. AKRISONER, that's an incredible story and good to hear he survived the grizzly attack as many folks don't.
  15. Too bad more folks don't think that way Joey.
  16. You talking about Ontario Rick ?? I always understood Grizzlies were Alberta, BC & Alaska
  17. Nothing out of the ordinary for them to eat Rick but they get spotted quite often. This is a mom & 4 cubs up a tree just 150' from the end of my driveway a couple years back. Nobody around here has ever heard of a bad incident between them and people though and some folks have been here 50 odd years. I think this is the 4th I've seen in my yard.
  18. My neighbor says we should all throw in some $$$$ and hire a hunter to kill all the bears in the area cause they "may" cause problems some day.
  19. Yup, always careful when their in the area. We're down the end of a mile & a half dirt road and I go for a 2-3 mile hike most mornings before sunup and always make some noise while walking. My wife and some girl friends in the day and always carry air horns with them just in case. does the same hike later
  20. Went out on the back deck a few minutes ago and found this big ole black bear in the yard. He's in the shadows so is a bit hard to see. I took a picture of this bear in the yard last summer and who knows, maybe it's the same one. Bears aren't un-common around here and it's always nice when they show up.
  21. Great chunk of land you've got up there Chad, really nice !!
  22. Saw the pic when you 1st posted it Rick, that was a very impressive fish for sure.
  23. Your 100% correct Dan, the shorter the trailer the harder it is to back up. Wonder if this gizmo would be able to do it better.
  24. At least you weren't getting eaten by that pesky badger LOL
  25. Big difference between a GPS for navigation and a machine to back your trailer up because you don't know how. Course that's just my opinion.
