Recommended kicker motor size for 16 foot aluminum boat?

I used to have a 16' Crestliner and put a 6 HP Merc on the back for a kicker and although it was great for trolling it didn't have the power to turn the boat fast in a strong wind. -
I was never much into walleye fishing but every May 24 weekend for many many years we did a trip to Quinte and always did well trolling minnow baits after dark in fairly close to shore over mud/weed flats in 10-12 FOW. Of course if your not into night fishing there's nothing else I can offer LOL

Water levels have dropped quite a bit over my way but the Otonabee River is still running fast and furious. The Trent system opens next weekend...(I think)...and if the river doesn't slow down a LOT I can't imagine any boats being able to navigate it with the crazy water flow.

Thanks for that Dan, very nice of you to say.

Nope, didn't know him Chuck, I didn't start fishing Pigeon till around 2005 or so.

Can't really help you with the tip Dan, we only ever hired a guide once years ago and it seems to me we gave him $100 for the 2 days.

Fantastic Dan, really great news !! Does the prize include airfare to BC and back ?

I had a house trailer at Youngs Point from '74 till 2010 and knew a lot of the local musky guys but don't ever remember the name Tom Edwards but hopefully you find what you're looking for Dax.

3 over 45 in an evening is good fishing in anybody's books....well done for sure !!

That's a nice picture of the fish and 52" out of Scugog is pretty rare so it's really something to be proud of.

Beautiful mount & what a great gift from your family.

I was over the bridge in Youngs Point an hour ago and it looks like the level has gone down a couple inches the last couple days.....hopefully anyhoo.

Water levels over in my corner of the Kawarthas haven't really been too bad until about a week ago but now they're starting to rise pretty fast. The water flowing thru the dams at Burleigh Falls, Young's Point & Lakefield is going very fast now and the Otonabee River is looking like the Lower Niagara. I went down to Youngs Point today and took a couple pictures but naturally they don't show what it's actually like but to take this 1st picture I was standing on a bridge and could actually feel it vibrating with all the water rushing under it. This is the Youngs Point lock and you can see the water is about 5" above the concrete wall where boats get tied up so probably at least 2' higher than normal. The barge has been in the lock all winter after doing some work in the fall but if the water rises much more it'll be sitting on the concrete. Haven't seen any homes in any real danger yet but the water is definitely starting to creep over some lawns and it sounds like we're all in for another deluge over the next few days.

Gonna get bad for lots more folks pretty soon too. https://www.theweathernetwork.com/ca/news/article/rising-lake-ontario-levels-are-a-delicate-balance-niagara-river-intake-flooding-along-st-lawrence

Yeah, it's breezy over this way too. I planned on building some new front steps today but I think I'll put it off for awhile.

...if you don't mind watching snow falling on April 27th Crazy weather eh ?? LOL

Good to hear from you and see you back Bernie, it's definitely been awhile.

I'm on Clear Lake in the Kawarthas and even though the lake has been ice free for several days the ducks still reside in my ditch. Guess the prefer to eat my lawn rather than what's in the lake LOL

Gotta be at least a decade since I was last in Bass Pro (Vaughn) but it seems to me they used to have a decent selection of seats in stock.

Never ever had that happen to our pots with either NG or propane Cliff and am wondering if you weren't getting a proper mixture of air & gas and were somehow getting a "dirty" flame that was causing the problem.
-
I'll also agree with Gerritt We had a natural gas stove in Toronto for 42 years and have been using propane here for the last 9 years and I would never go back to an electric stove. Instant heat, fast cool down and much easier to regulate when cooking. Of course this is just all stuff my wife tells me LOL

Government now says we're keeping both plates on our vehicles

40 odd years ago we were fishing the Whitby pier when my Dad tripped over something and fell in the lake. It was a cold night so he was wearing a heavy coat and darned near drowned before we were able to pull him out. He had dry clothes in the car but he'd lost his wallet when he fell and we couldn't find it in the dark water. Probably an hour later another fisherman scooped it up with his net and came looking for Dad and returned the wallet with everything still intact. I've always remembered the honesty of that guy.

The colour of the plates used to change every year too, blue plate with white letters one year then white plate with blue letters the next. Always thought that was such a waste of money.
