Absolutely Kelvin, there's no comparison when driving in snow between summer tires & good winter tires and people that disagree with that are the ones I like to stay away from on the roads in winter. I remember a time many years ago we were driving up a steep hill on a country road covered in deep snow. I had a front wheel drive Buick Riviera with winter tires on all 4 corners and that car was amazing in snow. There were about 6 cars all over the road that couldn't get up the hill. I just wound my way thru them and climbed the hill like it was a warm summer day LOL

Fish'n Canada comes on Saturday morning and I sometimes watch it. Been on the tube a long time and it's still a good show without all the crap associated with some of the others.

My folks were the same once they retired. They lived in the city and could pretty well walk anywhere they needed to go or else I'd drive them. The car stayed home most of the winter and they save a pile of $$$$

I've got a large garage with enough room to store 2 sets of tires and like you Chris, I look after my daughters tires as well as my own. I put her winters on a few weeks ago and mine last week. I don't trust the dealership guys to do it as I don't think any of them even know what a torque wrench is.

I get a rebate for having winter tires, I think it's something like 10%

I've been driving for longer that pretty well everyone on this board and have always used winter tires and in my opinion they make a huge difference in both moving and stopping. We've all been stuck behind someone who is trying to get thru a snowstorm with summer tires and it's really maddening. You can also lose control of a vehicle on snow covered roads when using summer tires and slam into some other car. Quebec has a rule that all cars must have winter tires but I don't know the dates. Winter tires are very expensive and many folks can't afford them and personally I don't know if they should be mandatory or not. My neighbors were both in their 90's and money was short and they couldn't afford winter tires but 1/2 the time he had trouble getting out of his snow covered driveway. I'm just curious what others think, should they be mandatory or not and if you think yes, what about the folks that need their car but don't have an extra bag of $$ laying around to buy them.

Can't imagine anyone would miss Charlie Wray, that show was nothing more than a sad pathetic infomercial.
-
I got the news earlier today and yes, it was sad to hear. Norm was a fun guy to be around and he'll be missed by a bunch. Norm on your extreme left.

Nice pictures Barry, specially the cougars.

Always enjoyed seeing the Lancaster whenever it flew around Toronto Chris and miss it now that I've moved away.

My dad joined the Navy in 1940 and his brother joined the Army the same day. Both put their lives aside for the next 5 years but came home alive. Mom's brother also joined up in 1940 and became a bomber pilot but was killed along with his crew when their plane went down. Dad's father was in the British Army and was a sniper in the trenches of France and said he killed too many people but it had to be done.. He was wounded with shrapnel but came home alive. Mom's 3 uncles all fought in the Canadian army and they too came home in 1918 but all with terrible memories of what they went thru in those years. I'm extremely proud of my family and how they all gave up a bunch of years of their lives to do what they knew was right. The ship my Dad served on, H.M.C.S. Kitchener

It's funny, but something prevents me from typing OF...N

That's my dad with our St. Bernard we had back in the 60's. His name was Tiny...the dog, not my dad... and he was an absolute fantastic & lovable pooch. The colder it was outside the more he loved it. Sadly he only lived 7 years but left lots of great memories.

Remember the days Roger when a group of us from this board would close the musky season the Saturday before Dec. 15 on the Upper Niagara. Fun times back then and some good memories.

I live in the country with a lake in front of me, woods behind me and I'm pretty much surrounded by farms yet coyotes are about the most rare of all the critters around here, infact I've been here 15 years and have only seen 4 coyotes total. I do sometimes hear them howling off in the distance very early in the mornings but that's it.

Sorry for your lousy luck Barry, down here in the banana belt we're still enjoying shorts & sandals weather.

People avoid jail in this country for far more serious crimes.

Thanks Chris, I remember that day well, it was the 1st ice fish GTG for this board. Probably the winter of 2003
