Hiya folks. Last September I lost my old Canon A1 slr to a fire. The insurance company has offered me a Rebel T3 as a replacement.I know this is an entry level unit but they still consider it an upgrade from my old camera. My question is, how much better pics could I expect if I upgrade to the T5i. Is it worth my while to spend the extra $$, or is it mostly because of all the extra features that most folks don't tend to use? Tks for your input. Cheers

Baking soda will polish them up fine. For more heavy duty cleaning try Barkeeper's Friend or Zud if you can find it.Amazing cleaners for metal. Cheers

Nice fish guys. Craig I ran into RJ yesterday and it seems that everything was lost from the site. He was going to chat with Bobber again this week to see about getting the site up again but he didn't seem very optimistic. Those flowers look like bloodroot to me. The first pic is similar but not wild garlic. At my place the leeks are up about 6" and I'm picking a few. Fiddleheads are close but not ready yet.Cheers

You absolutely want to pick them as short as possible in my opinion. Not like the stores with the long stems to add weight for sale. Specially for freezing you want them as tight as possible. Blanch for 2 minutes, rinse with cold water to cool quickly. I've had good luck adding a bit of water to the bag before sucking the air out and freezing. It may take more time to pick but my favorite is less than one inch of stem and if there is green showing I have no prob taking them off the clump. If they get fuzzy on the sides I leave them be. Most important to me is to keep my harvest to half a clump at most. I've been picking one early area for over 25 years and it is fine still. They can grow inches in a day with warm sunny weather so timing can be critical. Keep a close eye on things. Cheers

I used them last year after they were recommended to me. Worked quite well on a line counter reel with a medium heavy rod. Not near as much drag as with a pink lady or dipsy. For the price they are well worth it. Can be used for multiple species as well as they are totally adjustable for depth. Cheers

I've been picking fiddleheads for over 30 years now. Always along rivers and creeks. I cringe sometimes when I read inadequate instructions in mags and online. Here is what I always do no matter how I'm using them. Clean and rinse well. Boil in salted water for two minutes. The water will be brown. Drain and rinse in cold water. Boil again for 1 to 2 minutes. The water will be light brown this time. Rinse well again. After that I saute them in garlic butter for about 5 min. and serve them with sour cream. I also make a fantastic cream soup with fiddleheads, wild garlic, mushrooms and green onions that is to die for. I freeze fiddleheads and leeks every year just for that soup. Good luck guys. I've used leadcore and/or copper for over 30 years now for Lakers. I tend to use copper on a line counter reel more often as there is better sensitivity than leadcore. With 10 colors of line you should have no problem getting down at least 50 ft. depending on what hardware you are using. With a big hammer on you might get down to 65 ft even, so you won't have any problem the first week of June. Another option I tried last year for the first time is the Fish Seeker. It's under $10 and gets light line down to 70ft. Its also fully adjustable in 5ft increments. Works quite well. Good luck with it. Cheers

Check out these beer braised sticky ribs from Chatelaine. Highly recommended. This recipe won a big rib cook off at buddies lake. Everything can be made ahead and then finished on the grill.
