Stay away from CVT transmissions. Friend had a Nissan Rogue with one and gave him many problems. Most common problem was the transmission felt like it was slipping and didn't want to accelerate the car forward. He sold the Nissan before it really broke. The CVT's are very expensive to repair/replace and only trained technicians should be the ones even attempting to work on them. Another guy with a Mini had one actually fail on him. Replacement cost from Mini was just under $8,000!!

I have a Daiwa Fuego 2000 spinning reel in good condition. It's one of the older red coloured ones with the magnesium bodies. The reel still works great although not as smooth as it was brand new. Maybe it just needs a good cleaning and to be lubed (??). The reel is in great condition cosmetically (9/10) with just a bit of the finish worn away by the bail support. I have the extra aluminum spool, all papers and box with the reel. I'm thinking about selling this reel and was wondering what a fair price would be.

OK, it seems for a turkey cooked with juicy moist white meat to cook breast side down and flip over for the last hour or so. I'm thinking of cooking at 325 *F to start but when I flip it (breast side up) do I still cook it at the same temp or do I need to increase the temp to brown and crisp the skin? If so, what temp? btw. yes, the neck (cooked crisp) is the best part for knawing on!!

I use Mepps #2 spinners along rocky dropoffs and if you can find them, underwater boulders. Cast out the Mepps and allow it to sink to the desired depth and slowly reel in with a slight variatiion on retrieve speed. Favourite colours are red with chartruese dots, chrome blue, orange and glow in the dark.

I use a St. Croix Avid 5'6" two piece ultralight rod and a Daiwa Tierra 1500 spinning reel spooled with 4 lb. Suffix mono.

I'm planning my weekend fishing getaway already. I'll just be going for the day to either Gull Lake up by Gravenhurst or Port Severn. I haven't been to either and was wondering if anyone can tell me anything about either place. I've driven past Gull Lake many times on my way up to Lake of Bays and the narrows area of the lake looks real nice. What I'd really like to know is any fishing reports in either area and more importantly where can I launch and park? I don't mind paying for a decent ramp and a decent safe area to park.

Going to be cooking a turkey later today. Is it better to cook it with the breast side up or breaast side down?? Have a great Thanksgiving to all.....

Where (which marina) did you launch your boat from? What did they charge for the use of their launch ramp and parking for the day?

I wear nitrile gloves underneath fleece gloves the have the flip up fingers. The nitrile gloves keep my hands dry and thus, relatively warm. If my hands get wet they get cold no matter what type of gloves I'm wearing.

St. Croix Premier would be my choice in your price range. Or if you are able to spend $180-200 I'd say go for the St. Croix Avid.

Great to see an excellent trip documented with excellent pics for all to see. I wish I were there now......

Are the simcoe smallies back to normal?

No need. I set the reel's drag with the right tension and I'm good to go. The rod I normally use is a 6'6" ultralight Shimano Compre. I hook the fish and take my time playing it out. Besides it's a lot more fun catching Smallmouth using light tackle. -
What are your opinions on micro line guides vs. traditional line guides. The micros claim to reduce line twist and allow you to cast further.

I have a Daiwa Fuego 2000 spinning reel. It's one of the older red coloured magnesium bodied reels. The rotor and handle doesn't spin as free and smooth as it once did. Also the bail doesn't trip as nice as it did before.

If you had to get rid of all you rods and reels except for one combo what would your combo be? My 'ultimate combo' would consist of a 6'8" St. Croix Legend Tournament spinning (Drop Shot) rod and a Daiwa Fuego 2500 spinning reel. The rod, although is a drop shot rod, is a very versatile rod. The Fuego is light and smooth. Let's hear what your combo is....

Does anyone know of a place in Toronto that can professionally clean and lube fishing reels?

Caught a few in the 2-3 lb. range during the week at the north end of Snake Island in about 8-12 feet of water. I was fishing the drop-offs into deep water using pumpkinseed coloured tube jigs with 1/8 oz jigs on 4 lb test line. -
Nice fish!! I used to catch the odd one up there years ago using a good old classic Mepps Musky Killer in a Blue or Orange blade.

I have Interstate MegaTrons. Work great and cost $150-160

I drive a diesel Toyota and pay $1.179/litre here in East York The car manufacturers should bring more of the European models powered by diesels here into Canada.

That never would have happened had you lived here in Toronto. The problem with big city living is that people only look out for themselves. Big egos and attitudes are the norm here. Arrogant people that don't realize there's a whole other world from their concrete jungle that exists. I need to move out of here to a place where people still say hello to each other.

Try the causeway at Bridgenorth on Chemong Lake. You can catch nice Bass and Walleye right from the shores there.

It's not really the gas companies' fault. The main culprit is the government!!
