A followup to my post "How should I handle this"
redpearl99 replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
Quite simply, this is a fight between insurance companies... you can't let it vet to you personally. There is nothing actually outrageous with how the other guy is acting. The plaintiffs in all my cases are much worse -

1) you wouldnt fill it out on the same claim. You would need to file a defendant's claim 2) you cannot sue for harassment in Canada... it's not recognized as a cause of action 3) their claim would be for property damage and for possible personally injuries. If the plaintiff goes and gets a lawyer you can bet they'll sue for hundreds of thousands or a million dollars...... but will end up settling with the OP's insurance company for a fraction of that -

BTW.......there is no discovery in small claims court and there is also no such thing as a finding of guilt -

you are worrying wayyyyyyyy too much about this. I deal with claims like this every day. You pay for insurance for a reason.... let your insurance company take care of this. You don't need to talk to him at all. Even if he sues you for a million dollars it will be your insurance company who will hire a lawyer and file a defence. You dont do anything. The only thing you're gonna do is write some angry letter or make some heated comment that is going to be used against you later on. -
gagnon will be open so as long as they sell worms I should be good. Thanks

I'm taking the girlfriend to oshawa tomorrow. Anyone know where I can get some live worms? Does Gagnon sell worms?

Ideal float rod length for eastern tribs
redpearl99 replied to redpearl99's topic in General Discussion
I read and listened to everyone's advice......but I couldn't help myself and ended up buying the 13' Streamside IM8 rod today. I am a proud member of the more money than brains club. It felt pretty good and I landed a whole bunch of suckers in an eastern trib today, only had one chrome on. The reel seats are complete garbage though and I didn't have any electrical tape with me at the river. -
Dexter really messed up this time
-
that's terrible.... so snaggers will essentially be fishing the boarder of the dam on opener
-
I was just at the dam to check out the trout jumping up the new ladder. Nice to see the ladder is complete, but sad to see that the fish are too stupid and are jumping on the other side of the damn I also noticed that the marker line hanging over the creek advising of the no fishing line seems much much closer to the dam this year. The sign said "no fishing within 25 yards of the dam" while the other sign (which I think are the signs from last year) said no fishing within 120 meters of the dam. So did they change the regulations on this thing???

Ideal float rod length for eastern tribs

Ideal float rod length for eastern tribs
redpearl99 replied to redpearl99's topic in General Discussion
^could you suggest a specific rod in my price point in the 11'6" length? I guess one of the reasons i think I need a dedicated steelhead rod is because my fenwick is rated 8-12lb line which seems a bit heavy for the trout... which might be one reason I break off the light line. I love the rod tho for horsing around big salmon on 10 or 12lb line -
Ideal float rod length for eastern tribs

so now I'm confused, should I be getting a Dora the Explorer, stick with my current 9'6" or move up in size? I was thinking of one of the following and would appreciate any thoughts: -Streamside 13'6" ($90) -Shimano convergence 12'6" ($90) -rapala Magnum 13' ($70) i do admit that I probably could/should stick to my current set up, but I've been getting a lot of break offs because im still new to the centre pin and have some trouble with the manual drag. Sometimes I get to excited when I hook a fish and clamp down to hard. So i though getting a longer and more flexible rod would allow me to fight the fish more with the rod in case I do clamp down to hard... until i properly learn to use the centre pin. I also want a longer rod because it always take me a while to retrieve my line after a drift. A longer rod would definitely make retrievals after a drift much quicker -

the only real reason i want a longer rod is to have extra whip to allow me to fight the fish on lighter line. I'ave had a few good sized trout break me off on 5.6 lb leader in the past few weeks -
Ideal float rod length for eastern tribs
redpearl99 replied to redpearl99's topic in General Discussion
hmmm, so im guessing most people think 13'6" is too long for eastern tribs -
I currently use a 9'6" Fenwick Eagle GT paired with a centrepin reel for trout fishing. I got the Fenwick rod last year because I wanted a single rod that would serve me well for salmon fishing and trout fishing. I found that the Fenwick rod paired with a Sienna reel was perfect for the salmon run. But I kind of feel like the length of the rod is a bit too short for trout. Especially since I run 5.6lb fluoro leaders for trout instead of the 8.8lb leaders I run for salmon. So my question is, what size float rod would you say is idea for the smaller Eastern tributaries? I mainly fish oshawa creek and bowmanville creek. Today I went out with a buddy and he had a 13'6" Streamside float rod. It had pretty good strength, but is something at long just too long for the smaller eastern tribs I fish? Red

Ice fishing or steelhead fishing this weekend?
redpearl99 replied to redpearl99's topic in General Discussion
Hmmmm I'm also thinking that most of the tribs will still be frozen over this weekend... tho the larger and faster flowing tribs will prob be open -
With the weather warming up in the up coming days, I'm just wondering if it's going to be too warm to ice fish safely but too cold to go steelheading. It would suck if I can't go ice fishing but also can't head to the rivers because the ice hasn't melted yet.

First report: Ice fishing on the Blanche River system
redpearl99 replied to fishnguy's topic in General Discussion
page 8 of the regulations says "it is illegal to possess a spring gaff, snagger or spear gun within 30 m (98 ft.) of any waters. A spring gaff includes any device which uses a mechanical spring, other than the fishing rod under tension, to set the hook for an angler. No person shall take fish with a gaff, snare, snagger or spear gun. A gaff, other than a spring gaff, may be used to assist in landing fish caught by lawful means." -
not impressed with the bass pro spring sale flyer. Not really worth the drive down for me

Anyone been to Little Lake lately ???
redpearl99 replied to redpearl99's topic in General Discussion
I've never fished Gilford. Is there easy access? If fishing little lake, should I be fishing the deepest spot since it's a bowl? -
I've skunked the last 5 times I've gone ice fishing with my dad at Simcoe and other kettle lakes. Im thinking of trying Little Lake for the first time tomorrow and cant afford to get skunked again. So has anyone been out there lately???
