Thanks so much to everyone for posting. I will play with it a bit more and see ( without the kids in the boat ).

Ya, its hard to explain. When I was going slower (maybe 2500 rpm) the bow was high, but when I gave it gas the bow just started bouncing big time on each wave. I got nervous each time and let off the throttle. My boat before this was a 16 ft with a 40 and I would have run wide open in those waves.

Thanks for all of the responses. I am of the mind that I shouldnt have to add anything to make it run right. I will see what the dealer says.

I was on Erie10kmh winds, but the waves were rollers. Tm batteries are located under the console windshield on either side. I will test it out some more, but to me, I should've been able to go over 3,500 rpm w/ out bouncing like crazy. Would trim tabs help? I emailed the dealer to see what they have to say.

Has the 24 volt ipilot. I always thought that trimming up when on plane would make it bounce even more?!

Rated for 150

Thanks. I don't have a pic right now, but there is a transom picture on page 2 under the post "New Boat (pics). Kinda sucks. Just wanted to get out there and use it.

I dont think there is a lot of weight i can put forward. The only thing movable that I have in the back is the anchor. The fuel tank is built in and the trolling motor batteries and hidden under the console midway.

Hi all, got the new boat out yesterday. Although it was really nice to have her in the water, she was porpoising like crazy once I got over 3,000 rpm. Although there were some small rollers, I should've been able to open it up. Not sure what to do. It was trimmed down all the way. For reference, its a Smokercraft Promag with a 140hp. Thanks in advance.

I must say that I believe in promoting good business....Marsh's Marina treated me right from the first conversation. Not a bad thing to say sbout them... they were awesome.

Hi all, got the new boat today...she sure is pretty. Smokercraft Promag 182. Went with the Suzuki 140hp, Terrova with i-pilot and US2 and a 587ci for the front and a 597ci for the console. Thanks to everyone who offered advice over the past few years while I planned this out! I definitely got a lot of helpful information!

Lots of questions these days, but I get the new boat tomorrow and want to know as much as I can. I got a 140 Suzuki. I am a little confused about the break-in. The manual says under 3,000rpm for the first 1 3/4 hours, then under 4,000 rpm for the next 1 1/2 hours and after that, no more than 5 minutes at WOT until 10 hours has been put on the motor. When I talked to the dealer about this...he said "just drive it" and reminded me that they take the boat out before giving it to me and give the motor its paces to make sure it is operating properly anyway. Any thoughts on this?

Probably best to mount. Just hate the idea of making holes in a new boat -

Smokercraft promag... Wide gunnels. Being delivered this week! -
Are there rod holders that don't require drilling holes in the boat to mount them?

What kind of trolling motor plug for Smokercraft?
sneak_e_pete replied to sneak_e_pete's topic in General Discussion
New unit and boat comes with a receptacle which is why I want to match the plug to it (dealer is installing a unit I bought from a local store for free so want to provide all the right hardware). -
Hi there, for the ProMag, does anyone know what type of plug I will need for the Terrova to properly fit the boat's receptacle? Thanks in advance.

Dealer runaround...need some advice

I agree. He knew i was serious. I drove an hour to show him my boat for trade and even did a financing pre-approval for the amount I am financing through the dealer. He had my cell and home phone. -
I spoke with the dealer, got a price on the boat I want with everything I wanted a 150 Merc 4 stroke. Told him I had pre-approved the financing portion I needed and had listed my boat. As soon as it sold I would sign (this was Saturday). He said he had a 150 on a Lund that he could take off for me. He said he would hold it for me. Sold my boat, called today and they said they no longer have the motor available, but another dealer has one that they can get, but it will be $1,400 more as the other dealer doesn't get the same discounts they do....or they can put a 2 stroke on it, or I can wait 2 months for them to get another one from Mercury. Pretty much said tough luck. To me this is BAD business....and I no longer have a boat. What would you do?

Thanks for the posts.

Hi there....really close to signing on a new boat. Just making sure on a couple of things. My Grand Caravan is rated for 3,500 (with 2 people and their luggage). The boat package I am looking at would be about 2,900 with gas and gear....do you see any issues? Ramp I will use 99% of the time is in good shape and relatively flat.
