  2. Nice Report. Congrats on the lily pad largie!!! Keep 'em coming!!
  3. Hey Mike, Awesome report. Thanks for taking the time to be so in depth and posting some amazing pics. It's really appreciated!!
  4. Sounds like you had a blast..... What was the water temperature? Thanks....
  5. Hi there, There are some big largies in there, but the spots are inaccessible. We used to go in there with a float tube and flippers but we were booted out by the Park Rangers. Early morn and evening work best. I admire your perseverance and pride for TTCing it and fishing with an ice rod. That's what I call hardcore!!!
  6. Very nice fish!!!! Great pics... When will the show be airing? Sorry if you have already answered that.
  7. 8LB fireline. I am currently trying 6lb Spiderwire and I am not a huge fan. I like the sensitivity with the Fireline. I am a sensetive guy!
  8. LOL.. As far as BP having a sale on Rapala cranks. If believe there is a sale happening as we speak. Something like 6.99 per. You'd be saving a few bucks I suppose? Hope that helps.
  9. I love those lines...... 1)Honey, look what my friend gave to me today... He said he didn't use it anymore. Calcutta Bait Caster 2)Darling, my client gave this to me, he's a rep for Raven (refering to a 14ft IM7 Stelhead Rod, not to mention I have no association whatsoever with anyone who works for Raven) 3) And my St. Croix 6ft med actn that they had a huge clearout on for $15.99 at a bait shop in Pickering. Is there a bait shop in Pickering? Nonetheless, after much discussion, my wife has concluded that I really bought the rod for myself and not her. So, thank you bass pro for such a wonderful sale.
  10. Ken, Funny enough, I was just elling my wife about our debate and she thinks were all cracked. She said if I spent $300 on a rod and reel outfit she would kill me. Maybe I will buy her (me) one for X-Mas. LOL
  11. I bought the Coleman LED lantern from Bass Pro and it works great. The only drawback is that it's not nearly as bright as its propane counterpart. I would recommend that you buy the propane fueled lantern. The will last a hell of a lot longer and not to mention if your hands are freezing, they can somewhat warm them up.
  12. Mr.Ken, For a lady that comes fishing with me two or three times per year; I do not see the point nor can I justify spend a few hundred dollars on a rod and reel. My point to the entore post was that for the novice angler; this may seem like a pretty good deal. Once my wife begins taking the sport more seriously, I will buy her higher quality equipment. Using golf as an example, when you first start out, you have a cheapy set from Canadian Tire. As you become more involved in the sport; you upgrade. It's just my opinion. G
  13. Brian, I like your thinking. Always look for the positives!!! LOL
  14. Great report amd even better pics. When I am in a desolate part of the province like you were it ALMOST doesn't matter if there are any fish caught. The scenery alone is fulfilling enough. Congrats on the SM!!!
  15. I totally agree. They are not definately not top quality, but anyone who is in the market for a mediocre rod/reel would benefit from this sale. I don't carre much for them either but my wife has kinda got into fishing and I am not a fan of her using my gear so this will suit her fine.
  16. TGIF... Leaving for the cottage in 5 hours!!!!! Fishing all weekend!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Hi All, Just wanted to let everyone know that Bass Pro is having a pretty good sale on Rapala Rod/Reel combos. I understand that the quality is not supreme but they are going for $20.00. If anyone is in the market, head on up.
  18. Hi Arsenal, There is Bass Pro at hwy 400 & bass pro mills drive and there is a bait shop called Fish Ontario just past Canada's Wonderland in the truck stop with Wendy's, Tim Horton and gas station. I am very sure that they'll have leeches. As far as Bass Pro having leeches; I am quite sure that they do not. The have one of those vending machines and I think it only dispenses salted minnows, hard roe bags and worms. Try " Fish Ontario".
  19. I have eaten musky on several occasions and the methosd that I was taught was to let the filets marinate in vinegar overnight to remove the muddy taste. I know it sound odd but if you don't the fish is rather tough to eat..
  20. Hey, The fish was around 4.5lbs and the guy in the backround is about 300lbs! LOL. (my brother in-law)
  21. Look no further that the SONY CYBERSHOT 6MP CARL ZEISS SPECIAL ADDITION. Wicked camera and it's available at Wal-Mart. It's very small and compact!!!
  22. Very nice to see the kids taking part!!! It beats sitting around and playing XBOX all day!! Well done! Nice pics!
  23. Attn.Mr. Wonderful!! That is an awesome avatar!!! Well done!!
  24. We were up at friends cottage for the weekend and I decided to bring the fishing gear to try my luck. I tried top water, carolina rigs and boat dock flipping and nothing worked. Finally I came across the huge boathouse and decided to toss the lizard in there and thank God I did. Here is the result. I went back to the spot three more time that weekend and lost 2 more big fish. That was the only spot on the lake where I had success. I found it very odd actually. Many of the locals were saying that the pike infestation has been devouring the largemouth population and the only ones that can survive are the larger ones.
  25. I am not sure what the weather is like down there but when temperatures start to become excessively hot things start to soften up. I am not saying that is the reason, but I am sure the stell structure must have expanded with the warm weather that may have contributed to its collapse. Nonetheless, it is a terrible tradgedy and my thoughts and prayers go out to the people involved.
