For sure! we got some weird looks from people passing by!, if you read the article , they go through 10 tips to stay warm , one of mine was to keep catching fish-never feel cold! LOL works great, we stayed comfortable for the most part.
-
Wed and Thurs. we took a couple of sponsors from the south, they got here just in time for a pretty good snow storm, they were so impressed they sent pics and an article to ESPN"S Bassmaster website, its an article about cold weather Bassing. its on Bassmaster.com

Without a doubt a jig of some sort-jigs will catch fish in any situation.

Thanks Minnow-it is what we love to do, catch them and show how we do it! And yes Rodelu, it works great in deep and shallow, we fished like Karl mentioned from 25-40 fow key is to match-up weight to maintain bottom contact , I used a Tru-Tungsten worm weight 3/8 with a glass and ceramic, bead for a bit of noise, this draws their curiosity, the Tungsten is better for this application, as you can litterally feel the bottom composition, the smaller size of tungsten also means fewer snags, hope this helps. Thanks guys, well Minnow-looks like Karl beat me to it, but thats basicaly what worked for us, every season I like to try something a bit different, and this year I wanted to use the Carolina rig a bit more, it was an effective technique for me ,I plan to use it more in the future.

Went out for some smallies yesterday, Simcoe wasn't very crowded LOL, went with Extreme TV Team, Dave Chong and Karl Kalonka, fishing was tough but we boated some nice smallies, .

Thanks guy's and Roy it was a 50/50 split drop-shot tubes, pike hit a Mizmo tube, funny day one spot bass preffered the drop, yet another they showed a preference with tubes, Paul caught his first drop-shot bass so he was quite happy.now that I have this picture thing figuired out I can show more pics-I enjoy looking at the multi-specie pics by the members.

Went out this past Sunday with Paul Chiasson from my sponsor , Interstate batteries, Paul wanted to gain some info on Smallmouth , especially on drop-shotting, and tubes, we had cold but fun day, and while the bass were a bit picky we still boated more than a dozen, also Paul caught a really nice pike in Cooks bay, fish can from 20-35 ftw , all were released.

Got my attention too! we got a big pike on Simcoe yesterday fishing smallies too, looked about 10 also-nice fish anyways, pike are always fun-when they don't cut you off.

Hi Kirk , I was one of the guy's that got a free promotional trip a few years ago, but I will share my 4 day experience, as a whole it was very enjoyable, lots of wildlife, carabou, rabbits grouse, etc... the lodge was awesome! meals were great, the staff freindly, Charlie Mcdonald-the manager, made sure guests were happy, as for the fishing if you like numerous walleye and big pike(who doesn't) the fishing was fun, you can pretty much catch walleye at will and I remember the thrill of watching 40+inch pike attacking buzzbaits in a foot of water, so from my memories I would certainly recomended, my freind tourney angler Garret Green told me the fishing is still A-1 due to the lodges conservation policies , like barbless single hooks, no kill pike and a slot limit only2 walleye limit-most anglers did not keep any although you can have a shore lunch, I didn't bother cause it took too much time out from fishing, one thing I really liked was the after dinner walleye action in front of the lodge, pretty much one after another, would I pay to go again? yes I enjoyed the experience for more than the fishing, I had a freind who has recently passed away, who used to go every year and he enjoyed it also.

Thanks guy's and yes Buck he truly is I could listen to him for hours, he's been a lot of places and fished a lot-lots to learn from a man as intelligent as him.he's invited me up to Kenora-have to start saving the loonies.

On Thurs. I had the pleasure of sharing a day on Simcoe with non other than Gord Pyzer, Gord is an awesome angler, writer and all round nice person, we basically practiced together, while Gord did some research on Goby -type lures, as if that wasn't thrilling enough, Dave Kennedy and I finnished 10th and caught a 7.02 smallie which took big fish at the BPS open, it capped another awesome season for me fishing with some great anglers and freinds, I learnt a lot and have some great memories, heres a couple of pics. one is Gord with a nice drop-shot Simcoe smallie, the other is good freind Rob Broadbridge on a small lake a couple of weeks ago. all fish were released.

Nice pics as usual Brian, and yes the advice paid off big time!LOL it was an exciting event for Dave Kennedy and myself, the high winds kinda made it tough to fish our technique-drop shoting but we managed to put a decent bag together.
-
Thats where I was going to send you also, Luvtodrift beat me to it, I sometimes take the kids there when we just want to get a couple of hours in, usually lots of perch. Just watch where you park, lots of tickets ussued there.

Couch just doesn't have the same size of fish on average as Simcoe Gregger , not to mention losing a lot of fish-time on an already short day! I wish all the guys good luck, and I'll be out thurs.& Fri. see you soon guys.
-
Thank-you Darcy hope to meet you there!, Hi Charles, glad your'e getting out too, I'm pre-fishing thurs. and Fri. its been a mild fall, so perhaps blind may be the best betLOL like Brian said Couch is loaded , the stupid part is a 20 lb. bag won;t event get noticed!

Bass Pro Shop bass tournament is out of Sibbalds park this Sat. Oct.27th hours are 7:30-3:00 . hope to see some board members out there as 60 teams will try to break the elusive 30 pound 5 fish bag , John Macdonald and Steve Hawkins weighed in just under 30 last year , come out and possibly see a record in the making, as well as meeting some of the top bass anglers in the province, this will be my first year in this event and I am very excited to be teamed up with team member Dave Kennedy! Mark

Good seeing you there also Brian, also nice meeting Terry, my wife got sick Sat. night and decided not to risk leaving here with the kids, Spike had to come down to install our new computer, so we decided to get out for a couple of hours in the Aft. congrats to Curtis &part. for an awesome limit, he'll be one to watch Sat. in the BPS open, sorry to hear you are selling your boat , it was nice to see you out there as a regular, loved the after event reports also, great to see it from another perspective!

I am not a farmer but my 5 yr. old got bitten by a dog a year ago-got loose-right on our yard, woman said, he's never bitten anyone before, is this supposed to make me feel better? if I had been there I would have punted it for a field goal, I like animals but kids, family members and in this case livestock which is this mans livelyhood is priority! got dogs get a leash or a fence.
-
I checked the forecast and yes they are calling for high west wind-I would think twice about renting a small boat , like Brian said if you want perch lots in Barrie, guys from shore are getting them good. Mark
-
Well thanks to a couple of members helping me out I think I casn finally post some pics, I'd like to share from Simcoe this year. My boys Trevor8 and Bradley 6 caught some really nice smallies, also a couple of pics of a recent taping of Extreme Angler TV.
-
I take my 2 boys age 6&8 but I have a 20 ft. boat, you want to be Extremely careful in a smaller boat, like Blake says I would lean more to Couchiching, fish are a bit smaller but easier to find.
-
Nice smallies Brian-just think-4 more like that and you breaki the Canadian record!
