  1. Let him have this. It'll probably be the only time he'll have one over on the leafs for the next 5 to 60 years.
  2. It's unfortunate a bunch of the guys have been playing really well. The top line is doing amazing, Marleau has been a great pickup. Just need to see more out of the other guys, Marner and Bozak really need to smarten up and play like they can. D needs to tighten up across the team.
  3. We have a cottage on the lake. It's been a wreck ever since the dam was taken out. Fall the water levels are dangerous. Low water levels killed pretty much all the walleye. It's been a real mess for a while now. Makes me sad.
  4. I liken Karllsson to Redden. Redden was good but Chara was the foundation.
  5. Now actually that's a good question, Matt, would you take Karlsson entering his prime or Chara entering his prime? Because that's a no brainer for me. (This came up when I was thinking who the best Ottawa defenseman of all time would be)
  6. Similar to what Arkinsoner said, Karlsson is a great fit on Ottawa and a very dominant defenseman, but in terms of salary cap, plus the fact that the leafs need badly to keep goals out of their own net more then anything, he wouldn't be the best fit on the squad. If the leafs could make it work and still have room to improve their D core, of course we would take him, but we have a lot of work to do where as he would just be more icing on an already explosive offence cake.
  7. And if he played for the leafs Matt would say he is an overpriced defenseman who never backchecks and is one dimensional.
  8. It's always been that way. Ask who is the best defenseman of all time and you get arguements of Orr, Coffey, Park. Lindstrom was a defensive juggernaut but he still had to put up 60 points a year to get noticed. Give me Jason Smith and Glen Wesley on the back end any day. Leave the offence to the forwards.
  9. One of my favourite stories of all time. A buddy of mine and I are fishing out of Mitchell lake, taking the Trent to Balsam and back. He says he wants a Muskie. I just want action. So he is tossing huge lures, I'm tossing a 2 inch drop shot minnow on 4 pound fluro. Guess who ends up landing a nice 36 inch Muskie? He was so mad. I thought for sure I was swimming home.
  10. For free, who cares? For the big games I'll head to the local watering hole. Spend $30 on drinks and or food. (I've never seen lag on this site but our internet wifi isn't great so it's bound to happen)
  11. Still seems like too much. I spent that money on a smart TV and the missus found us a free streaming site from the UK to watch all the hockey games. (Just don't tell fishnNautographs)
  12. You've pretty much proven it to me. I'd rather set my laptop on fire then have a Sens or Habs logo anywhere near it.
  13. There is something strange about someone who watches every game a team plays, makes their profile photo have the team's logo in it multiple times, comments on them more then any other team in the league, but yet professes to hate them.
  14. Agreed. A good goalie can single handedly win you a game. No other position can boast this.
  15. Not accurate. I can't downrig for Lake Trout over the summer out of a kayak. Plus what drifter said. Every spot on every lake is fair game in winter. I look forward to it because my species Target changes.
  16. I allllways wear those on the ice. Sometimes I run races in them.
  17. Can't wait to get out. This November I really have to prep my gear rather then the first time I go out on the ice with B or nick being like 'What the *%+* was I doing last year?'
  18. Think I told this story before but I love it so I'll tell it again. Was working in Dryden on a lake, it had rained the night before and the boat had some water in it. So we drive off down the lake and I have the plug out. Drains all the water. We had about a 2 hour boat ride. We get to the first spot and start pulling up the gear and my co-worker says 'Jer, I think the boat has a hole in it.' I ask why and he mentions we are standing in shin deep water. I go wide eyed and realize I forgot to put the plug back in. I've never bailed water so fast in my life.
  19. Pretty cool. Only problem is what happens if you lose it?
  20. I'm in. The missus wants to come. Love to have her meet you. Also you gonna put on a 'whitefish clinic' at the expo?
  21. So by that logic, Ottawa's entire history has been a meltdown. I predict they will do more of the same this season.
  22. That or I'll be asking which ice holes you set the bear traps in.
