  1. It was a tough day all around it seemed. Not many people getting fish, and even for us it was pretty tough, lucky to land a few. Saw a ton of fish on the vex, but they were very unaggressive.
  2. I remember 8 years ago, I could fill a pail with crappie every night (never did, because I dont eat much fish, but others certainly did) Now, I get a few a year
  3. Oh he's well aware, and e should have been there a few times already. If you talk to him, tell him to call me haha
  4. With the lake being frozen up nice and tight we decided to try out a new area today. Headed out to about 100 fow and dropped our lines. It was a pretty slow day but we still managed 3 lakers and 3 whities, not bad, not great. Spoons were the ticket... not a sniff on live bait. P.S. It was COLD!
  5. This season alone I've caught pike, herring, LMB, whitefish and lakers on the buckshot
  6. LOL. that sucks, but i enjoyed reading it
  7. Thanks solo, as far as we know, it still is a beauty fish. Gally, if you got an extra hut, I'm good for this weekend, but no more open ice adventures for me in temps like next weekend
  8. nice job budday

  12. nice job. this full moon was awesome
  13. Well, being 22, its probably not good that I feared a heart attack
  14. I had Friday off work and figured I giver a go on Lady Simcoe, my old stompin grounds. I got to my spot by 7:30 on Friday morning, walked to 98 FOW, dropped my vex and saw this ..... The pic is blurry, but either way, its a big school of herring. I drop my spoon down and before it hit bottom it stopped, I set the hook and I iced a little laker, around 2 pounds, back she went. Drop down again and jigged just below the herring... about 10 mins later, wham, fish on! A nice 5 pound laker... she ate it on the flutter and was bleeding heavily so I lunched her. About 20 mins later my spoon got thumped and up came this lady, decent size. I stopped taking pictures after this because the -20 was not nice on my hands. I landed a couple more little lakers (1-2 pounds) and a few herring. At around 11am the bite died. I had a live minnow out all morning on 8lbs test that never got touched, so around 2pm I brought out the perch gear, 3lbs test and put a minnow back down the hole. Not 30 seconds later, the rod buckled, after about 15 mins I got her to the hole, a beauty laker around 10-12 pounds, one head shake and snap, good bye, catch ya next time. Around 3pm I was reeling up the umpteenth herring of the day when my rod reared back down then got light again, here was the result... Would like to have seen the laker responsible for that. I packed up around 4pm with my tally at 7 lakers, 1 whitie (only around 2 pounds) and countless herring. SATURDAY Not much of a report. I went to a different spot today. I was cold, left early and had to work early afternoon. I only landed 1 laker and 1 little whitie, and of course lots of herring... but the some guys around me just spanked them, lots of fish. SUNDAY A few people called me Saturday night to report their success, so I had to get back out. Brought my g/f, Bojan (Bojangles) and Ryan (troutguy) and his buddy Dan. It was a slow start to the day, not much happenin, then finally after some communication, we ended up fishin the same spot. We all got our share of 1-3 pound lakers with a few diesels mixed in, and Kelli got her first lake trout ever, a beauty too. Hope you enjoyed. be safe out there. still only 4 inches where we were fishin
  15. I wish I was alive back then so I could rock a pair of those shorts.
  16. in the summer .... i think i say ... there's one or get the net in the winter ... I stay as quiet as possible to prevent swarms of people rushing into my area ...
  17. nice eye buddy
  18. I occasionally feel the same way. I was working extra jobs to pay for tournaments... I'd get off work at 3am, drive to the launch, catch an hour of sleep, fish, then back to work. I really cherish my time when I'm "fun-fishing," but I still love the competitiveness of a tournament, and I hope it never goes away. The best thing about fishing my club tournaments is that everyone knows one another and there is a comraderie aspect to it. Everyone respects one another. I have noticed other clubs, which I am not going to name, who have no respect for one another, cutting each other off etc... thats disrespectful to me... no problems like this in our club yet, and I've been there for 5 or 6 years now
  19. I fish around 20 tournaments per season. Due to the cost of school and finally living on my own, I havent fished many "bigger tournaments" for the past couple years. To compete at the top you need to put in lots of time and money, which I really dont have. LAtely I've been sticking to smaller events and club tournaments. Join a BASS club. I did when I was 13, and I have learned something from everyone I've fished with.
  20. WRONG. jobs in the GTA are few and far between. If you're willing to travel, there are a ton of great opportunities. I have had 4 job offers in my field, 2 in BC, 1 in Saskatoon and 1 in Whitehorse. Problem is, I have a g/f of 4 years still in school here, I've lived with her for 2 years and I'm not ready to commit to a move across the country and leave her behind. If you look around, there are plenty of jobs available but you need to be willing to travel
  21. Here goes... I just graduated the program, the third year of FW. I love the program and everything about it. Jobs.... there are jobs, but not many CO jobs if thats wha your looking for. I know 2 people from my time that got CO jobs. If you're willing to move, theres a ton of work. I have friends in BC, AB, YK, NWT, TX, MT, QC, WY all of whom have awesome jobs that they love.... notice a pattern?? If you stick to Ontario, its all contract work.
  22. I see where you got your screen name. haha. awesome report.
  23. With a sharp hook, a bad hookset wont cost you nearly as often. My 2 cents
  24. lost a few rods, a few rod holders and my buddy a couple years ago dropped his iPod speakers as we were packing up LOL
