What would it take to leave your job?

If my ideal perfect job came around I would snap it up in a second...just don't know what that is. -
What would it take to leave your job?
jedimaster replied to jedimaster's topic in General Discussion
I wasn't looking, I don't think I have ever really looked for a job. I get a half dozen emails from recruiters every day, most just go to the junk mail and I rarely actually respond to them the phone calls are particularly annoiying. I guess this one caught my eye on the right day I guess. I can assure you that my skills are up to date, current and top notch for what I do. Thats why I get recruited all the time. As for the comment if I was good enough my current employer would pay me more is a bit illinformed. In some cases yes this could be the case. However, at my pay rate its often a stretch for companies that I work for to just get me in the door, let alone bone up an extra 30%. Thats a fair bit of money your talking about. Anyway, Its not something I would ask any employer, to match an offer, I find it a bit underhanded. If I wanted more money from this company I would just ask for it, I don't think they can really afford to put that money out, and it would over price my positions worth in this company. In this line the only way to make a significant increase is to go to a larger company with deeper pockets and a bigger Org Chart. I actually took a fairly deep pay cut a few years ago to lower my workload going from contract to perm positions, however with expenses going up every year and fishing season pressing with so many new toys on the wish list I guess its time to test the water. -
Ther has to be a better solution, when I look out my window at the DVP, there are three lanes south bound nearly empty in the evening and 3 lanes rammed north bound. In the morning its the same but the opposite direction. Maybe some concrete barriers on rails etc...didn't look at the links yet..

Ok, so her eis my traffic idea. Why not figure out a way to imbed the gaurd rails into the ground that will raise and lower to adjust the number of North vrs south lanes in the morning and evening commute? For example in the morning the south bound DVP hasthe usual 3 lanes plus an extra lane or two from the northbound side. Then in the evening the Notherbound has the usual 3 and takes over one or two from the soutchbound side. Then make the extra lanes SUPER Long distance lanes, so you can only get on at a few places near the core, and only get off way up past where the traffic starts to thin out, like say Steeles or Finch. They do this in Hamilton with a set of lights and gates without anyone getting killed by head on collisions, and Hamilton drivers are easily worse than Toronto drivers.

I thought this was going to be about the movie...

If you want individual number stickers just go get some at Crappy tire or walmart. If you want a nice one piece, I had one done at a place on Nugget Drive in Scarborough. It was done very well and for a decent price.

COmputer guys are pretty replacable assets. Its funny, no company wants to look for a new one, but almost every company is willing to let the current one walk out the door. Going to go in and see what this place has to offer.... -

Never seen an employer offer pension to a Computer guy unless you work for the guberment. Job is pretty much lateral(thats kind of the stage I am at. Lateral moves to bigger companies. As for starting at the bottom, I am beyond starting at the bottom in my career. I wouldn't tell the ocmpany I worked for to give me a raise based on an offer, not really my thing. It's not a startup, its a bank. Why are they paying more? because I am working for a small company and underpaid. Pretty much everywhere else pays the same as this place, for this type of role. I didn't mind this place I am at but the the dollars and cents are a bit crunchy since the gas went up 30 cents over the last year, makes the commute a bugger. I am waiting to get more info back on weather or not I need to be mobile at work or if I can just take the train into work instead of driving. That'll be the deal maker for me. I hate driving way do to the big smoke so sitting on the train woul dbe a nice change of pace. -

Its a bigger place, would actually be better for me in the longer run, but I always hate giving the news, I am leaving. With IT stuff, so much has been done here around my skillset. I mean, I am replacable, but I know they will be in a bind if I leave. However I know for sure they would drop me like a stone if they felt they could make ends meet without me. -
If you liked your job, the people were ok, and the pay was ok, what would it take for you to leave if you were being recruited by another unknown company? being offered 30 percent, its a good amount of coin but by the time, my ex wife gets her grubby hands on her share, its probably about 20 percent after tax more.

Were we all ice fishing a few months ago in -25? gee cmon guys, get your floater on and get in the boat. You bunch of sissies, must be a bunch of Habs fans here.

Personally, I like that store, she always gives me a good deal on lures, and they have a nice selection of cheap stuff too. The live bait is also usually very fresh. Not sure about the paying for the regs thing though. That seems a bit weird.

Some of the 3gs phones will not lock onto a signal if there is no cell signal. It depends on what revision. The earlier ones need to be within a close distance of where it was last locked on. Eg if your in toronto and you turn your phone off drive 6 hours north. Where there is no signal the phone will take a really long time and the internal gps software times out. This was fixed in later versions.actually the latest os may also fix it.

Thats super cool man I would love to find one like that.

GPS on an Iphone is not GPS like a handheld GPS. It requires Cell phone tower connections to work. I know this for a fact as I have an Iphone and the GPS doesn't work where I go hunting as soon as cell service drops out. Its called Cell Tower Assisted GPS or something like that, but they just call it GPS.

Need to have some Boat work done in the GTA

Mounting the battery as well, likely they would use a battery tray, socket/receptical, breaker, possibly a connection for a charger etc...Add in the materials and its likely only about 100 bucks labour. So its not that unreasonable of a price. Mind you I would do it myself if it was my boat. -
GPS on the iphone doesn't work when you don't have cell coverage. So if your fishing up north where you don't get cell service it won't work but the maps will still load if you scroll to them before you lose coverage.

haha thats funny. So what if its in the middle of summer and I make an iceberg from my chest freezer and float it into the middle of the lake with a little bow mount trolling motor for power? I bet it would last at least a few hours before melting....

So lets say you fish on a lake that is open all year, and allows 2 lines wihle ice fishing and 1 line while open water fishing. Could you take a canoe out to the ice pack sit on it and cast with two lines into the open water? What? I am just askin..

True about the UV, but for a trailer, I would think durability is number 1. Just like a subframe of a car. Honestly though tremclad is not that bad. The paint is actually very strong and durable and given the right technique it can give an excellent finish. Plus touchups are fast and easy. Grab a pint of gloss white, some mineral spirits thin it down a bit, grab some foam rollers, and wet sand between the coats with 600 grit wet/dry. No need to prime but get rid of the rust if possible. and go over the whole things with 100 grit sand paper before the first coat. This car was painted with tremclad... I would say good enough for a trailer. Look for the reply by 69chargeryeeha about 1/3 the way down.

Last time I did the perch derby we fished the south side. The bay to the west of the mouth.... Caught tonnes of perch but no taggers.
