  1. For those of you who were following my post "Moose Antler Rod Handle," it is now finally ready to catch some fishies. The owner wanted to give it the handle, "The MOOSE" and I was happy to make it so. Here's the final pictures I just took before it leaves the house later today. Oh and yes, the guides are indeed spiral wrapped, as requested. Thanks for looking and Happy Sunday Folks.

  2. Seeing that pic of the 12'Fenglass rod in the downrigger rod holder, takes me back to many years ago. My favourite rod for that was the 9'8wt Fenwick brown glass fly blank. Never broke one, and landed a ton of chinook and coho back in the day. Brings back many nice memories.

  3. To add as a side note, it just occurred to me that this rod going out the door marks 50 years this month since I sold my first custom built rod. I think I'll retire to the porch with a cold beer. Cheers

  4. I was recently tasked with building a split rear grip casting rod utilizing some young Moose Antler for a friend. I got started on it a few hours ago and two hours later this is where I'm at. Thanks for looking. I'd also like to extend Happy Father's Day wishes to all the Dads here, I hope your Sunday includes a little fishing time.

  5. I've been on a bit of a stall with this one while I dealt with other issues including a broken down band saw, essential for cutting antler. I finally got the band saw up and working this morning in order to finish this Moose Antler handle. Anyway it's now guide ready and will hopefully be hauling in the Big Ass Bass soon. Cheers

  6. Progress to date on this build has been rather slow given my old computer died Tuesday morning. Hence I've been busy getting this new computer up to speed, a task that will still require days....! I did find a few hours this morning to get the Moose Antler rear grip turned and finished. The pictures below show it dry fit to the blank and I will await customer approval before gluing it together.

  7. My daughter was coming along hwy 407 last night and ran over a piece of metal on the road and the tire that hit it basically disappeared with nothing left but a band of rubber on either side of the rim. I've seen plenty of flat tires but nothing like this. Luckily those 2 strips protected the rim with zero damage. Just thought some may find this interesting.
