Started on this piece this morning for a long time customer/friend. It's a rare piece of stabilized Douglas Fir that had been hit by lightening. I'v made much progress on it thus far but it is proving to be a piece that will require much TLC if I'm to get it to completion.

Made a little progress this morning. Unfortunately the seamless hood piece broke into 3 pieces as I was parting it off, which of course slowed down my morning progress. I did however manage to salvage it and get back on track. There is one chip out you can see at the top right seam that I can repair once the entire reel seat and handle is assembled onto the blank, it will never fail nor will it even be visually marred. It will take time though to get a (near) flawless finish on it as there's many micro cavities in the wood.

Last night's Trout Fajitas. Home made vinaigrette slaw, sauteed onion and bell pepper and a slice of my home made dill pickles.

Just a suggestion...........slice it into about 1/4 inch pieces with the grain, so you have long strips. Marinade them in a teriyaki marinade for overnight in the fridge, and BBQ them on high for about 2 minutes per side. My favourite way to eat wild turkey breasts.... Doug

To all my friends on the Ontario Fishing Community. As some of you know I hunt, so something I started with our family and friends in the early 80's as well as having turkey or ham is to have a roast of wild meat that I was fortunate enough to harvest. That to me is Giving Thanks. Have a super nice one guys with your family and friends.

Thank you very much Lew, I will tell her, she knows through conversation that I feel very privileged to consider you a best friend. Man, isn't that something, 58 years for you and Diane. Congratulations just doesn't seem like enough. These days a lot of couples get married and 6 months down the road they are consulting a divorce lawyer.

So I went back at it this piece post dinner to make a little progress and I'm at a stall now until morning. Break outs are a problem along the burn lines slowing me down as seen here in the first two pictures. This piece will be the recessed hidden front reel seat hood in my seamless fore grip design, hopefully!

Lots of talk about were going to have a very good ice season . Let's hope Full glow ice grubs .
