  1. I received a PM and sent these pics to trouting101 but thought I should post them here as well, in case anyone else is thinking of adding swivel, quick release seats to their Sportspals. I added hockey sticks to raise and strengthen the existing wooden seat cross bars to support the weight of my fairly stout fishing partner and lift the seating position a few inches. With the added height we never had so much as a close call and didn't notice any difference in balance or tippiness. The black squares are the quick release mounts, the seats (with swivel bases attached) slide easily into them and lock into place. By lifting the lever with one finger the seats will slide right back out again for storage in your trunk so you can car-top the Sportspal. My buddy copied my design on his smaller Sportspal and brought his dog along to stand guard. This way you have seats that are so comfortable you can spend all day on the water and still car-top the boats at the end of the day. Anyone with any other Sportspal questions, feel free to ask here or PM me.

  2. It's been a long time since I've posted on the board, but I thought I'd post a few pictures of some of the fish I've caught this year at my trailer. I'm so glad we have this place....it's been much needed through the lockdowns of the last year and a half!! I didn't even know the walleye got his big on this lake! I hope everyone has been safe through these past months!!

  3. I have gotten tired of running out and for propane . Been looking at those dome charcoal BBQ,s . Weber's,Napoleons . Just crazy prices IMO . Was at wally world and this one caught my eye and was marked down to $85 from $120. SAVINGS. It has all the same features as the high $ ones . I really like the basket on the bottom. Just dump the coal grill and just dump in a bag the next day or so . Easy clean up. While I was there, I noticed the temp gauges 4 probs. Marked down to $15 from $29. Another big saving. Will work for both the BBQ and smoker .And there was my charcoal, KingSford pro. This unit for the price, I will be happy if I get 2-3 years out of it. The big draw to going this was, it will be a great addition to my smoking. Smoke in the Big Chief and finish off with the heat and smoke I will need instead of the oven . I can just smoke a big butt pork in this thing . I need to find one of those hinged grills so I can add more coal and wood when needed ,while doing indirect heat cooking or smoking . Today was fire up and just get it seasoned and any unwanted flavors. It sure heats up fast. Big batch of home made burgers Saturday. Since I got the vac pac,I can do this. LOL Let the new cooking adventures begin. Oh, this years shepherds are going to have some great flavor this fall . Think I,ll do a bunch of elephant garlic this fall as well.

  4. I did. Another deal to be had, so, snagged this Big Chief. Dents had no effect on the smoker, but it would seem it was the cause of the discounted price . Oh I am so devilishly sly . All I can say is wow, this thing is going to be so nice to use. No more cutting up ribs in to 3 pieces,or the same with fish. Just throw the whole slab on. 5 racks and huge burner . The only thing I need is to either drill a small hole on top to get my thermometer in it,or buy one of those fancy wireless ones. I am not a nerd nut for these, so might just do the hole thing . Unless someone can convince me different . I will put a few pans of smoke through it Tomorrow and Thursday to season it, then this weekend well, who the hell knows what I am going to do. Oldest boy will get my other smoker. He is happy,as he loves smoked fish and ribs and beef . It will be a learning curve for him, but I know once he gets the hang of it,he will have his river hound buddies asking to have their catches smoked . I love new shiny things.

  5. Gibson Muskoka. Tea stained water. Pike walleye bass (LM and SM) Crappie. Lake is about 30 ft max in the north part of the narrow and a bit more in the south part. There are no fish deep as the lake has an oxygen issue. Bass relate to bass structure. Rock points, Islands, pads etc. Many small bays with pads all hold bass and pike. Pretty good fishery but you might not be successful first time. Walleye are found in pretty specific locations. I have caught 4 walleye in total there. Best bass baits Senko and weedless frogs and wakebaits Best pike baits were smaller crankbaits (not sure why) and wakebaits PS. Beware of Narrows!
