Bitsmith2k Posted June 14 Report Posted June 14 Hi guys. I redid the impeller on the motor this spring and hit the lake for a weekend. (It’s a 2015 60hp 4-stroke Merc). I noticed a sheen on the water behind the boat that I believe is due to oil spilled in the cowling during oil an oil change, slowly dripping out. At least that’s my hope. It’s not from the power trim and I don’t think it’s coming from the lower unit vent or drain as there’s nothing on the garage floor. I cleaned the engine and put it on muffs yesterday and noticed water draining from the cowling above the lower unit (not the lower unit itself). It hadnt happened before (that I noticed) and I went back to my videos of previous years to verify. Just with the muffs, motor not running, everything is normal. Motor running, in neutral, normal. Clicked into gear, water comes out the different spot. I’ve attached pics showing. I have video as well Is this something I just hadn’t noticed before and everything’s good? Or did I bugger something up doing the impeller? Need to see a mechanic or am I overthinking things? Thanks fellas
Cosmos Posted July 11 Report Posted July 11 On my Merc (2009 50 HP 4 stroke) this is a speedo connect. Looks identical to yours. Basically water pressure provide reading to your speedometer - may be you pinched that hose. If you have plenty - cut a piece and insert it back.
Bitsmith2k Posted July 12 Author Report Posted July 12 Thanks @Cosmos ran it for a week in Temagami last week and it was fine. Tbh I didn’t even look at the speedo. The stupid garmin force kraken though. Died on day 2, not impressed.
