JustinHoffman Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 Hello All, Has been a fun summer/early fall with the camera. Was lucky to find my first spruce grouse the other week while searching for moose in Algonquin Park. Very cool birds. Have also been spending a lot of time at my deer spots here in Ottawa, shooting both still images and film of whitetail behaviour, etc. The bucks are beginning to show themselves, so the real fun is just beginning. Here are two short videos for those that enjoy nature and wildlife.
Rod Caster Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 Those grouse are beautiful. The one bird was sitting in a 'wild raisin' bush.
JustinHoffman Posted September 30, 2013 Author Report Posted September 30, 2013 Nice to know what the plant is called, Rod Caster - the female was eating up those berries right before I started filming her. Cheers, Justin
Rod Caster Posted October 1, 2013 Report Posted October 1, 2013 Cool, I see them everywhere here...the birds, not so much! They are edible too. Taste just like a fig/date mixture. Make sure they are blue and plump, if they are overrippened, the inside is a gross brown mash! They make for a good trail nibble.
ratherboutdoors Posted October 1, 2013 Report Posted October 1, 2013 Cool, love the birds. Momma Doe is not too impressed with you!
ehg Posted October 1, 2013 Report Posted October 1, 2013 Well done videos! Not a hunter but those birds and deer look like they would be good eats. Good stuff!
