Sudzy Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 Any tips for this lake (or any lake in the area for that matter) for fishing Walleye/bass/pike this time of year?
johnnyb Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 Smallies should be bulking up, so look for them in the usual rocky places....tube jigs, slash baits are probably good choices. Big pike in the lake...just put your time in with bigger baits...spinnerbaits are popular...any weedbeds you can find bordering on deeper water would be ideal. It's a pretty large body of water...either run and gun, or stick to one area and work everything really thoroughly.
Sudzy Posted October 8, 2009 Author Report Posted October 8, 2009 Thanks, anybody have any spots on this lake? I have been around Bass Island with some luck in the summer. It such a big lake its hard to know where to start.
Guest gbfisher Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 closet to home is always a good place to start.....
workwear Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 do yourself a favor amd get yourself a nautical map......read it and hunt them down......a nautical ,ap will also show you where those nasty rocks are that might take your lower unit out....yes im speaking from experience...lol...look for drop offs and rocky areas and youll do fine...good luck
l2p Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 my friend owns a cottage on rosseau and we go there all the time during the summer, im not sure what island its called because theres plenty on the lake but theres one directly acros the lake from his cottage and we always always catch big smallies around it. it goes from 30 feet to nothin in a mere 10 -15 feet.
