GBW Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Hey all. I was wondering if anyone has ever had luck in the tribbs with minnows instead of roe and or worms? I ask as I have a few preserved pinheads and shinners and I'm just itching to get into my 1st steelhead! Thanks in advance. Geoff
kemper Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Give it a drift...you will be pleasantly surprised.
Guest steel'n'esox Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 They will difinately take minnows, I tried them about 20 years ago when I like you had some emerald shiners left over, very similar and shape and appearance as smelt, got fish on them did not have any luck with mud minnows left over from quinte though. As kemper says you might be pleasantly suprised
Burtess Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Thats why white jigs work well, shiners will work well on fresh fish in from the lake and also later on the drop backs that are looking for more meat to recouperate after spawning. Burt
GBW Posted March 14, 2009 Author Report Posted March 14, 2009 Thanks folks! I'll give it a shot the second I can get out...
