does it have a realistic shaft length? I remember looking at an inexpensive unit at BPS last summer thinking it wouldn't be good other than for a raft or other flat flotation device. Not sure if its the one you're talking about though

You get what you pay for.Its a 42" shaft so limited in it's application and it has a composite lower shaft (a cost cutting measure) were as Motor Guides have stainless (it's made by MG).I would be concerned with the durability of the mount as well.
