  1. Its a spot where they dig a great big hole, let it fill with rain water runoff from the 12 lane highway beside it, plant some grass around the edges, toss in a couple of fish, and make you pay to walk around the only spot for miles that there isn't a building, and brag that they "conserved" something. Did I miss anything?
  2. I just finally read what dropshotting was. I gotta try it. I would imagine you can put anything on the hook that you want. The point to me is where its sitting and how you get it there and the feel you have. I'm thinking a worm for eyes and maybe injecting a bit of air.
  3. They wanted to make the trail go downtown that way, but the people in the area said, not in my backyard. I travel a bit further than you. 12,500km on my sled in 3 seasons. Back in the day, we used to go to Kelso and fish...it was a good time...that was 40 years ago I was in a complaining mood earlier...I've calmed down now. We just don't have a lot of civilization up here...its all wilderness
  4. no I didn't...and I'm still mad that they won't let the snowmobile trail go through there
  5. Instead..first we pay for everything,,,,then we pay if we want to actually use it.
  6. I was just being like that...we get charged for everything. I think the fees are to keep people away, sorta to avoid over crowding. We don't have conservation areas in the sault...just crown land. But you gotta pay to go for a walk in Lake Superior Provincial park which I think is a crock
  7. sure they could...they could just lay more charges for no skin on fish fillets
  8. It just doesn't get any better than Specs
  9. Heck...Ida done it for 85k a year....even if there is no fishing there...well, maybe not without the fishing
  10. Thanks Radnine. I really do need to clean the green paint off the mounts. I was a messy painter when they were on a 2x6 on my old boat. Fyrguyry, why don't you show us a pic. Maybe we can give some better ideas. A board across is nice though. You can mount so many other things on it.
  11. It would really depend on if I felt like having fish for dinner. I don't bother freezing fish anymore. PS, most of my fishing is in a no slot size area so I would keep smaller ones
  12. These were about the size of the ones in the pics at the top of the page. I'm not a real big Pike guy. I was just out with some American friends for the week. meat hunters they were
  13. 1/8" thick You will never bend that. Aluminium I would be concerned with. Its a plastic scotty mount. Plenty of things to let go first.
  14. Right where the lags went in is 2 layers of 3/4" plywood under the carpet. I drilled a pilot hole and screwed em on. If it wasn't tight I was going to put a fender washer for backing and bolt it.. I just got lucky with the location of existing holes. I didn't really want to drill a brand new boat. The brackets I got made at work and used an orbital sander to put a finish on the stainless. There is a little bend at the rail to match the slope there too. And some of the fish in that river are the size of volkswagens
  15. We caught a wack of pike last week...20 or 30 anyway. All trolling 3 to 5' of water with 4" gold and silver williams wablers. We could see the fish (40 inchers) swimming as we were trolling for them. (something to be said for a 4 stroke maybe)...I got tired of catching weeds so I went shallow. 50' back and 6" down. I could see the lure and the pike were coming up and smashing it.
  16. Or you can go with a swing out boom type affair like they have on here. soory..couldn't resist
  17. 1/8" bent stainless plate. I matched the holes already in the boat for the cleats and 2 lags into the plywood. Scotty mounts but would work for anything. A board across would be in the way on this boat.
  18. Bob Izumi is a spec guy so he would be it, along with Mariko of course. I want to fish them Quebec lakes I hear about, and Lake Nipigon, and a few of Bobs hot little spec lakes near Elliott lake My son and daughter have to be there too. I've already fished most of the places Daryll fishes, and had many shore lunches at them
  19. wow your'e pretty impressive
  20. He was in one a couple years ago where the 2 girls hopped into a car at 6th line to get a ride across the finish. He was quite "put out" because they "cheated"
  21. Thanks for the post Toddy, looks like you had fun aniceguy, its called population, not much you can do about it
  22. After a weeks vacation, I just don't have the time. If you want to kill a couple of hours, try the rapids. There are resident rainbows in there and Atlantics right now. Park at the locks and walk across the gates (legal walkway) and follow the trails to the rapids. Its worth it just to be there.
  23. A good friend of mine played the sidekick on that once, and another guy in town here that I know. From what they say, they actually have to catch the prey. The camera guys don't give it away.
  24. yammie 4 stroke tripple? not cheap
  25. O.....M....G...shakes head..hangs it a little..and walks away
