  1. Finland it is! The gold medal game is going to be great! Go Finns!
  2. lets hope so. i was at the local tackle shop today and a group of four anglers returned from lpb. they brought back approx 75 perch, but the biggest was only 9". average was 7".
  3. it'll be interesting to see the size caught. most of erie perch are now caught in 40' - 60' of water...including in the winter. lpb's perch have seen major declines (as with their bass). however, not much ice fishing has gone on in the last four or five years due to warm winters. lets see if any remotely close to jumbo's are caught this year.
  4. some very bad calls this game. but its going both ways. we just had two pp's in a row and couldn't score. the goalie penalty was brutal, as was the head shot penalty. go Canada!
  5. don't underestimate the Finns. they are strong. they also want to play Sweden more than you can imagine. its the Canada / usa rivalry of Europe. (of course I'm slightly bias being from a Finn background).
  6. but they are good actors! fooled many folks out there.
  7. i guess it didn't leave much of a lasting impression on ya - which is likely a good thing.
  8. Lew, that's amazing. I don't remember who I met last year, you can remember encounters 10 years ago. I'm jealous of those who have memories like that.
  9. to further the above, it was up to the mayor of each city to request the gift cards. believe it or not, ole crack smoking Ford stepped up FIRST. Hamilton is getting the cards as well. Our mayor Mr Bratina contacted the appropriate people and they started giving them out this AM. Some folks ....
  10. some corporations can't win. A 100% Canadian company donates gift cards and folks whine. Loblaw's sure as heck didn't say "only give them out here or there...." Remember, they didn't have to give anything out....Loblaw's would have just been like the rest of them...but instead they stepped up. The government is matching 1:1....ok, you don't agree with that.... But at least that is food for people, not wasted projects that have been mothballed.
  11. well, you can't argue Big John has the best opening music to his show. he's actually quite fun and one of my favourite shows on WFN.
  12. Neil Young. What an 'adventure' that would be. He's not considered very approachable or nice, so getting him in a boat would be interesting to say the least....
  13. oh boy, oh joy, oh happy days. come on back Leo. we miss ya!

    So Sad

i don't mind the photoshopped reports. personally, and this is just me, I won't read/watch a "video report". i like well written, magazine quality reports. as soon as I open a report with a link to a video I just close the page down. each to their own I guess.
  15. you aren't serious, are you? you really wouldn't take Erik over Dion would ya? That's nutz. I understand the offense on Ottawa leaves much to be desired, which is why Karlsson looks great, but .... wow.

there are other sites, private sites with posting requirements, that are used for report sharing. public sites like this one are more of "community" meeting spots. I believe that is the reason they brought "community" into the website address. Also, techniques seem to get good response. I remember one recently about drop shotting. Another about jigging umbrella rigs for muskie. Fishing reports have better places. (unless we are talking lake ontario salmon reports. chances are most know there are kings off bronte in June/July)
  17. oh, and lets see what offers kadri will bring to the table. like bill said, maybe it'll be enough to wake him up a bit.
  18. KOMAROV!!!!!!! my favourite leaf since Clark. Bring back LEEEEEEEEOOOOOOO!!!!!
  19. so it appears, the way I'm reading it, is it'll be a free-for-all on catch and release largies. mnr could never ever suggest you weren't fishing smallies, unless you were physically keeping the largies, which of course is not allowed. but fishing for them seems to be open game. essentially we have made it catch and keep (no size restrictions) for smallies and catch and release for largies. btw, I did send this question to the MNR. Awaiting a response accordingly. Will update this thread once I receive.
  20. cool. i agree with not wanting to argue whether its bad or not. this isn't the thread for that. I'm just curious to their reasoning of 1) why did they open it to only smallies and 2) how are they going to enforce it?
  21. no worries smallies = small mouth bass.
  22. fishindevil, I don't disagree. just wonder how they are going to police this? bluegill, I'm not sure what you are talking about. After November 30th and before third weekend in June, only small mouth bass are open season. The limit of 6s and 2c applies. That would be the smallies limit.
