The long range is looking much better now anyway. Showing some minus temps coming up. My father who has ice fished since the early sixtys says it wont take long to thicken up if it ever gets cold. Maybe he's just telling me that to make me feel better about it all. I'm going stir crazy!!!! (no smilies to depict that) I think my wife wants me out of the house too.!!

If someone asks me about a product such as that or an old worn or poorly maintained motor I ask how far out on the water they generally go or if they keep a good set of oars.

Took a drive out to Fish Bay this morning. This is what I seen. Was talking To Mark at Anglers Haven yesterday. He didnt think it will be much before the first of February before he would get out. Too much ice to launch a boat and not enough to walk on. These were taken at Wades Landing.

This past summer behind my cottage an osprey and a heron battled over a small pike. The heron ended up with the fish. I would have bet on the osprey beforehand. We also have bald eagles nesting a kilometer away for the last several years.They are huge.

You need to gear down. Going to a larger diameter with less pitch u may end up being close to what you are running now.Suggest reducing pitch -same diameter when you are loaded up. An engine is stressed more overpropped. It puts more load on bearings/gears. An anology is like when you try to start to pedal a bike uphill in 10th gear.Puts more stress on your body. Gear down and see how easy it becomes. Just dont go as fast. What you then have to be careful of is over revving no load.

I think if they have a shack at the fishing spot that is 16ft long and 8ft wide that needs to be pulled out by a large piece of machinery that it should be safe to be there. Not aware of any of the operators around here that would risk lives or machinery. I was thinking more of the individual that takes a risk. ps...Frank is a class guy and would not take risks.

OMG...Dont give the lawmakers any ideas about ice thickness laws...People soon will have to take a little more responsibility for themselves and their actions.

Had one done 3 years ago from an old sport injury. went easy as pie( never ever made a pie but... ) Nothing to it..15 minutes and all done.. u wont believe the difference...Its a little sore the first day but you will get better. Had mine done in Ottawa-Dr Myles-nice guy-I think hes a fisherman. Hope it all goes as well as my experience for you ...Take care

Thanks for the info guys. At this point in time I can guarantee that I will be there for at least a day. Generally take some time off about then. Its a good hike to the other end of the lake from where my place is. Will have to dig out the gps---on second thought I will get myself a navigator. Always wanted to make the trip down there by boat.

Hi all. For the benifit of some of us newbies here could someone give a few details on the Lakair trip. When is it? Is it a mini tourney amonst OFNr's? Is it open to all OFNr's? Its sounds like a fun weekend. It may be the excuse I need to finally drive my boat to the other end of the lake.

hmmm. It was there last night..Wasnt really much anyway.It was just a point i was making about the large increase in ice fishing since the early 80's. There was only one shack in the picture.
