  1. ....I know that 25lbs plus of laker don't fit through a 7" auger hole. Sorry to hear you lost her but I'm sure they'll be others....someday.
  2. ....Well I'll chime in here with my opinion. I'd suggest a 7' graphite rod rated for 8 to 15lb test with a fast action. That would cover all the needs you've mentioned. If you can transport and safely store a one piece, go for it. Quality does cost more and generally comes with a warranty, that's a plus in my eyes. Ugly sticks are crap and not worth the investment unless you have a habit of breaking rods on a consistant basis. Stick with the tried and true names, Fenwick, Shimano, Berkely or St. Croix are some options available.
  3. ....At your age Kirk? Wow, way to go! Congratulations to you and Anna. I'm thinking the new arrival will be wanting a custom rod....
  4. ....Welcome Carponthefly. You'll find it can be a bumpy ride at times but we have a vast base of knowledge here when it's needed.
  5. ....Looks like you had them dialed in again Greg, nicely done.
  6. ....Yippeee, I'll be out off Pefferlaw on Sunday with a large crowd of 47.
  7. ....Actually Glen it's a non related issue. Rainbows are generally land locked strains of trout while a true Steelhead is an anadromous (fresh water born, ocean living) genus of the rainbow. A twist to all this of course is Great Lakes Steelhead, some of which are derived from true steelhead and some from watered down domestic rainbow trout. What I'm trying to say is that rainbows don't grow into steelhead yet some domestic Great Lakes strains display anadromous properties. I'm sure this has helped you none!
  8. .....No not new Wayne at least not yet.
  9. ....Nice !
  10. .....and mine was delivered to the dealer yesterday. Not to worry Wayne, you'll have many years to enjoy her!
  11. ....I'm still using the origional 20 year old blades (thanks to my Dremel) and yes I could bolt the 8"s on if I needed too, nice option.
  12. .....That would be the inline style, one I would stay away from. Once the offset style handle is mastered it outshines the single crank mushroom capped style augers everytime. I've used both and wouldn't own the single crank style if it were new and free, I'd probably give it to you Wayne.
  13. ....No issues here TJ, looks good and worked well.
  14. ....I have a 7" Fin Bore, folding offest handle. Best advice I can give Wayne, absolutely get the offset handle, you won't regret it! Unfortunately I don't think they even make the 7" anymore (?), too bad as it was nice compromise between the ease of a 6" and the larger hole size of the 8".
  15. ....Punk / Post Punk / Industrial / Goth / Grunge / Alt and Indie Joy Division Killing Joke Echo and the Bunnymen Alice in Chains Meat Puppets Trail of Dead Tool Radiohead I think you get the idea....
  16. ....Yes, welcome, I hope we can be a place you are comfortable in.
  17. ....Well I have ice fished that area many times over the millenia and I'm not sure you'll find much in the way of ice unless you're in some of the marinas or slow moving harbours. To date I've not heard anything that would convince me to drive up.
  18. ....Done....
  19. ....There has always been loads of posts deleted, nuked, locked or whatever on all previous boards. For some reason it always becomes an issue when it's "your" posts being nuked, yes that's right it's "what happened to my post?" wah!! It's a message board, not much has changed imo other than you all need to get out fishing.
  20. ....I reiterate, it's a Fishing Forum Terry. If you only want to read fishing posts don't open NF posts and don't start or reply to NF posts. If you do want to be a part of NF posts be prepared that they may get removed, period! That may or may not change.
  21. ....Not sure Tony? I do know he's located at the mouth of the Pefferlaw Brook, west side. FishFarmer has made all the arrangements for the Stelco Fishing Club. Bus ride up and back with huts and bait supplied for $65, can't beat that.
  22. ....I've heard some are on ice or soon will be in the Pefferlaw area Tony. I'm heading up there Sunday with a group of 47 and we have huts booked for the day. Thought it was going to be cancelled but the operator called to say his huts are going out and will be ready for the weekend. Quinte
  23. .....Here's a thought, this is a Fishing Forum" topics outside of that may be pinned, locked or deleted at the discretion of the Mods, no explanation required!. Now where'd I leave the cheese?
  24. .....Hey, now there's a couple of familiar faces. Good to see (and read) that you all had a good time.
  25. .....I'd be up for a day on the ice with you and Shelley if I can swing it Chuck. I'm pleased to hear you are doing well.
