i think ppl are asuming things here, walking into the lake with a gun and pulling a gun are two different things. Im sure the gun was never actualy pointed at the teens therefore i see no issue its just intimidation i would have done the same.. that is without pointing it at them, how do they no he wasn't just out partridge hunting and heard them???

I will be out on chemong trying to find myself a "very" large school of crappies! That is if i cant find them this coming weekend with the underwater camera.. -
from my experiance a flasher and a graph will interfer but i have never had a problem with two flashers in one area.. i could be wrong i usualy fish alone but when i have fished with other anglers using flashers i have had no problems but always with sonar units.

I have spent a total of about five hours on the ice so far this year and i have yet to land a fish. I'm not use to this and im starting to get frustrated.. I have found the fish but they wont bite. I can watch perch all day long on the flasher and camera but the most they will do is nudge the bait. I have tried everything i can think of when it comes to lures and every presentation i am aware of. I am using artifical baits but this has never been a problem before... Idea's, anybody?

I dont know first hand but my house is less than ten miles from rice and the lake behind my house has 8" im guessing the sheltered area's would be good to go. I'm sure if we dont get really high temps before newyears things will be good to go for the opener

I am guessing you aren't planning on buying new, if you are i would advise against it. Put it this way the one sitting in our garage is worth close to 11 000 new and now it would be pushing our luck to get 3500-4000 for it atleast from a dealership.. I would sudgest buying one from a private seller if you do this try and find someone who bought the bike new that way you know what its been through. If you want one for fun and play go with a 4x4, i know its a guy thing to go big but to be honest anything over 550 is kinda over kill because they aren't that much faster and all they do is burn more gas basicly. The only reason we have a 700 king quad is because we run tracks on it in the winter and the extra power is needed. Any brand is good basicly they have all been building atvs for years stick with the main 4 tho. Honda, Polaris, suzuki, and yamaha. The more recent Can ams are also great but the older ones tend to be more like tractors than atv's power to weight ration is way off.. One thing i would check when looking at a bike is wheel bearings, play in the steering and maybe even take it as far as checking for water marks in the air box. I know this sounds ridiculous but ppl who trail ride tend to like to get wet and i will be honest i have sunk ours before.. LOL

Hey guys, Finally my lake is frozen over and to my suprise there is almost 8" of ice. I went out for an hour before dark tonight and drilled 15 or so holes in one of the bays. I located fish but couldn't get them to bite. I plan on getting out on an old stand by spot around first light we will see what happens. I will keep you guys posted..

I'm "SO" jelous.. nice fish! -
I have my own ideas what are yours? I perfer to find a shallow flat located next to a deeper water zone such as a channel. The only problem i have with this is you can only catch fish when they move up on the flat which is only every few hours or so, sometimes only after dark also..

http://www.myfishingpictures.com/showphoto...at//ppuser/2618 The only thing that has ever stopped her is two feet of slush and a ft of snow ontop of the ice..

I haven't used them alot myself but i have seen friends have excellent luck with dropper spoon rigs, take the hook of your buck shot and add about 2-4" of line on the snap ring, then tie on a small hook and add a minnow or even just a minnow head, perch eyes work amazing to but im not sure if thats legal.. I have a lot of good luck with baits tipped with shrimp for crappies too. If the fish aren't bitting try dead sticking with something as simple as a small salted crappie tube you will be suprised how many bites you get. The biggest must have for panfish in my opinon is a good rod, something really lite with 2-6lb test

I am going to have to say a fishing resort somewhere in northern ontario.. Lac suel maybe?? -
I'm going to be honest i have been hearing about this for years ever since i use to volunteer at the OFAH. I gave up on it ever happening two years ago and the other day i come on the site and see "pigeion ice".. i dont know about u guys but i am pumped about fishing crappies on rice and chemong.. No more long drives to haliburton and if the crappie fishing is anything like it is in the summer it should be amazing in the winter. Anyways just had to get that out lol

I'm not sure if this topic has been on the board yet or not beacuse i have just recenty got the internet again. The "where are the deer" post got me thinking, im pretty sure their is one in my area my uncle shot at it a few years ago & neighbours have reported sittings. Its just a thought but could that be a reason for deer decline in some area's? I dont even wanna know how many deer a cougar would kill per yr.. Anyways what are your thoughts on cougar sittings?

Hey guys.. Over the last few weeks i have become very frustrated with my fishing efforts... The last three times i have been out i have been skunked every time. This is very unusual for where i fish because its a private lake and on a bad day i can catch 30-40 bass in the summer time. I have tried everything, drop shotting, spinner baits, trolling deep cranks and no bites. The only sign of any fish that i can find is in about twenty feet of water on the graph, most are suspended about four or five feet off the bottom.. I worked these fish hard and came up short anyone have any idea's?

I had an underwater camera given to me for christams. It is a Fish Tv plus unit with red led lights and a lead and plastic fish looking body without the fish pattern painted on it. I am begining to think that maybe it is spooking the fish. The ice is now covered in snow so i have to use the lights on it no matter what time i go fishing throughout the day. Could the lights maybe be spooking the fish?
