  1. Sadistic %%$#!! At least you could leave her some food and maybe a drink on your front steps for 'curbside' pickup. BTW---my son's work partner was tested so my son spent 4 days in his bsmt with his wife leaving 'curbside' meals on the stairs! Fortunately the guy's test was negative so he has been let out to go back to work!
  2. They seemed to miss the point. I doubt that the province originally closed all ramps because of possible violations of social dist at them. The issues, as many have pointed out, were to discourage non-essential trips as well as avoiding relatively hazardous activities. Similarly, trail riding in our local forests, for e.g., was forbidden.
  3. You must have have really splurged!! Our popcorn was a mere $30!!
  4. Somehow the logic that applies in Penetang, Midland and elsewhere does not apply to Wasaga Beach!!
  5. They never did close it.!!! Maybe you can express the same sentiment to the town---contact info on-line
  6. trying to outrun the virus?/?????
  7. Wasaga Beach boat ramp open I must admit I was, and am, a bit ambivalent about posting this. I contacted the town a couple of weeks ago and suggested that they be consistent with almost every other municipality and close it, but they have decided that there's no harm in leaving it open. So you can either thank me for posting this or crap all over me for encouraging people to do the 'non-essential. The launch at Nancy I in Wasaga is a couple of km from the mouth if you choose to fish the bay.
  8. Written from an American perspective but most applies here: "For a small amount of perspective at this moment, imagine you were born in 1900. On your 14th birthday, World War I starts, and ends on your 18th birthday. 22 million people perish in that war. Later in the year, a Spanish Flu epidemic hits the planet and runs until your 20th birthday. 50 million people die from it in those two years. Yes, 50 million. On your 29th birthday, the Great Depression begins. Unemployment hits 25%, the World GDP drops 27%. That runs until you are 33. The country nearly collapses along with the world economy. When you turn 39, World War II starts. You aren’t even over the hill yet. And don’t try to catch your breath. On your 41st birthday, the United States is fully pulled into WWII. Between your 39th and 45th birthday, 75 million people perish in the war. Smallpox was epidemic until you were in your 40’s, as it killed 300 million people during your lifetime. At 50, the Korean War starts. 5 million perish. From your birth, until you are 55 you dealt with the fear of Polio epidemics each summer. You experience friends and family contracting polio and being paralyzed and/or die. At 55 the Vietnam War begins and doesn’t end for 20 years. 4 million people perish in that conflict. During the Cold War, you lived each day with the fear of nuclear annihilation. On your 62nd birthday you have the Cuban Missile Crisis, a tipping point in the Cold War. Life on our planet, as we know it, almost ended. When you turn 75, the Vietnam War finally ends. Think of everyone on the planet born in 1900. How did they endure all of that? When you were a kid in 1985 and didn’t think your 85 year old grandparent understood how hard school was. And how mean that kid in your class was. Yet they survived through everything listed above. Perspective is an amazing art. Refined and enlightening as time goes on. Let’s try and keep things in perspective. Your parents and/or grandparents were called to endure all of the above and ......YOU ARE CALLED TO STAY HOME AND SIT ON YOUR COUCH"
  9. Maybe not so sorry.Maybe some good will come out of it.It seems obvious that our present lifestyle is unsustainable in anything that might be called long term.
  10. scarf was common lingo elsewhere.
  11. Hi Art, Me again with another question.I have been quite lax in using the chemical called 'resin cleaning solution'. The brand I have is called Res Care. If I used that a few times----maybe make up for the times I missed?---would that possibly eliminate the salty water prob that I have-----Thx again.
  12. A bit off topic perhaps----Many years ago when logos on T shirts came out my older bro assumed that those Labatt 50 shirts were freebies from the brewery!😃 He refused to spend money to buy anything like that and I cannot say I blame him.
  13. That sort of ignorance of the law just gives the cops a bad name.
  14. Very good observation. Sitting on the couch not quite as risky as the front line in the army!!👍👍
  15. I have heard many on here urge everybody to limit travelling to fish to comply with the govt's request that we make only essential trips. I on the Notty. The last few days have been quite busy here and I am quite confident that they are not all local----they never are they come from all over. It seems that many are not getting the message.
  16. That sounds ridiculous! I have seen lots of vehicles with hitches plus ball driving around. Used to have one myself A real PITA to remove. what's the harm in leaving on?
  17. Saw him in Midland a few months ago. Also saw him at a pub in TO about 15 yrs ago, no cover. Puts on a good show.
  18. I Googled that but I seem to need to buy some sort of streaming service to see the movies. A list of about 10-12 was Provided---no idea of quality of service or cost.
  19. So she's saying that they are over prepared?? What a ghastly sin. Ever hear the expression "Prepare for the worst but hope for the best"?
  20. Thx y'all, esp Art I think our unit is 8 or more years old so prob time to replace? I thought that the electronics on top were merely 'bells and whistles' compared to the simpler timer that is quite similar to those used for light timers. Guess not, eh? How do I know if the plumber I hire is just picking up a reg unit at Home Depot or similar? I can ask him if I know I can trust him, I guess. Pretty sure I have no flapper leak because we are on a well and I hear the pump when it starts, at least when I am in the bsmt but sometimes upstairs as well.
  21. I knew a woman who thought t was called 'cold slops'! (Just a wee bit of topic drift here, doncha think?)
  22. Thx, Art.Nothing is leaking. I'm not sure what you mean by backwash cycle being restricted. You mean a line is somehow blocked?Would replacing the timer be the first way to fix?I have no idea of costs etc.
  23. I am fairly new to using a softener. We sometimes get a salty taste on the water the first thing in the AM. I think it's on the nights when it gets back flushed but I'm not sure. Is this normal? Is there some part of the instructions that I did not read? This has happened when the salt level has been fairly high as well as when it's been quite low. Any ideas? thx
  24. Here is what I got from my $$ guy. FWIW--- if it makes any sense Negative oil? The strange sight of negative oil prices after Monday's (April 20) late-day plunge in crude futures contracts has sparked a wider, cautious response in the equity market. A negative price for a barrel of oil may not make intuitive sense but is largely explained by the dynamics of the futures market. Oil prices are usually referenced by the futures contracts for delivery of oil in the coming month. As these contracts near expiration, the prevailing price of crude oil typically "rolls forward" to the next month's contract with minimal change in price. The price of oil to be delivered for the May contract is what turned negative. That contract expires today (April 21), requiring delivery of that oil. With oil oversupplied and very little storage anywhere, those futures contracts sold off sharply, with sellers willing to essentially get out of those obligations at extreme losses. With the May contract expiring, the June contract will become the prevailing price of oil, which is currently trading around $10 per barrel - low, but not negative.
