How would you call this one? (impaired charge)
Kawartha Kev replied to HTHM's topic in General Discussion
It appears the charges have been dropped http://www.torontosun.com/2016/02/26/hero-fishermans-impaired-driving-charge-dropped Kawartha Kev -
Thanks for all the reply's everyone seems to be happy with their purchases which somewhat confirms my thoughts that pretty much all of the vehicles are good. As some have mentioned the Santa Fe is another option but it is a little bit larger it seems to me and I have a neighbor who also mentioned it was bad on gas but a good vehicle until they found out about a known problem with the frame which was quite common although never a full recall but was prone to rot early in the life of the vehicles however that was a bit older vehicle anyway they got rid of it immediately and got a Subaru Outback and like it. I am not really looking at AWD so I don't know about the Subaru's or getting it with other ones at it adds about 1k or more to most of them. I do hope to get the vehicle for $30 K all in but would like it closer to $25K if possible I don't know if there are deals to be had out there at the moment I am just going by prices from online build your vehicle prices that I have tried. I was hoping maybe to get a better price for a full cash purchase maybe dealers would give a discount for that I don't know I am a fairly new driver only had my full license for about a year so I know insurance is going to be bad also. Anyway keep the info coming I will take it all into consideration. Thanks Kawartha Kev

I don't plan on doing towing am also curious about insurance I think all vehicles will be similar. Do need to be able to transport small outboard motor a 9.9 honda.

I am considering buying a new vehicle and would like to know your thoughts on the following vehicles if you happen to drive one or know anything about them. The vehicles I am considering in no particular order are all around the 25 to 30K price point and are all SUV's so here they are Toyota Rav, Honda HRV, Hyundai Tuscon, Subaru Crosstrek any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks Kawartha Kev

Well all I can say is you will be able to get lots of musky action on Lower Buckhorn but you will definitely have to work for a 50". Good luck!! Kawartha Kev

Well since I have a cottage on Lower Buckhorn its where I'll be fishing and yes there are lots of muskies on it in the 40" range but tough to get into the 50" range but I think I have had a couple 50" fish on but have not been able to land one yet but lost at boatside that looked pretty close to 50" Kawrtha Kev

People Fishing With Nets on Lower Buckhorn
Kawartha Kev replied to James77's topic in General Discussion
Without getting to specific where did you see the people doing the netting I have a cottage on Lower Buckhorn and am curious if it was out in the main channel or on the main lake or in some of the back bays no need to get to precise if you are worried about giving location. Thanks Kawartha Kev P.S. I am familiar with where Beachwood resort is. -
Here's some good pics and you can follow the link to a good mushroom guide http://www.rogersmushrooms.com/gallery/DisplayBlock~bid~6320~source~gallerychooserresult.asp Be careful with wild mushrooms some that look very similar can make you sick while others are good to eat not familiar with blewits myself. Sorry I don't have pictures but can anyone take a guess as to what type of minnow I trapped? It was from the Don watershed in Toronto and they ranged in size from about 4 to 6 inches were a dull brown colour with a bright golden colour to their sides with some orange to the lateral and pelvic fins. Wish I had a camera with me they were really quite beautiful to see any ideas anyone? Thanks Kawartha Kev

Looking for advice on buying a bike (NF)
Kawartha Kev replied to fishing n autograph's topic in General Discussion
Hybrid bikes are nice if you intend on riding mostly on good paved surfaces I got a Specialized hybrid about 2 years ago and love it!! Narrower tires than a regular mountain bike makes it easier to pedal but won't do well on off road conditions. You might be able to get a last years model for just a bit more than your budget but doubt it for under $500 with any good quality to it. Mine was about $800 with a few extra's added on ie.helmet trip. computer, lights etc. Kawartha Kev -
Evidence of flooding on Lower Buckhorn from Reach Harbour Resort's webcam showing their dock just about under water http://www.reachharbour.com/ just click on the webcam button at the top left of the page to update the camera image. Also here is another webcam from Sunrise Resort just beside the lock on Lower Buckhorn however it has been taken down at the moment due to flooding hopefully they will get it back up soon http://www.sunriseresort.ca/index.php/photo-video/webcam. Hopefully it drops soon. Kawartha Kev

Lower Buckhorn webcam from Reach Harbour showing water almost over the dock and the webcam from Sunrise resort has been taken down due to high water last time I checked http://www.reachharbour.com/weather.htm is the Reach Harbour camera. Here is Sunrise resort if they get it back up and running http://www.sunriseresort.ca/index.php/photo-video/webcam Kawartha Kev

When do you expect Simcoe to break up?
Kawartha Kev replied to sneak_e_pete's topic in General Discussion
Here are 2 webcams from Lower Buckhorn and it is breaking up pretty good but the back bays will be iced up for a while yet. This one is from the Sunrise resort looking down the lake towards the narrows http://www.sunriseresort.ca/index.php/photo-video/webcam and here is the second from Reach Harbour resort which is about halfway down the lake looking out to the main channel http://www.reachharbour.com/ just click on the webcam button at the top left of the page. Kawartha Kev P.S. Best to watch the Sunrise webcam in the afternoon when the sun shows the lake better also this cam updates every 5 sec. or so unlike the Reach Harbour cam which shows better through the day but only updates every hour or so I think.
