  1. Nice looking fish and tasty snacks to boot!
  2. Such a great fishery up there. Have fun!
  3. I spent a little time fishing Georgian Bay this year. Got up to Shooting Star Camp on the Spanish River. Rustic place and a bit of a hike to get to but beautiful, buggy and fishy. Lots of smallmouth and pike, topping out at 36 and 38" Not Ontario, but my Dad and I enjoyed our third fly in together to Northern Manitoba. Lodge owner wants to keep this lake quiet for now so I can't say where. But it was a float plane ride away from the lodge. I probably won't see another day of fishing like it. 10 trophy pike in the boat (over 41") including a double header for me and my Dad. I topped out at 47" and 48.75" All caught on a Len Thompson #4. Keep it Canadian, eh? Truly amazing. I asked this board for tips on a flyout many years ago. I don't post much any more but read all your reports and am grateful for the entertainment when I'm too busy to get out there. Now that work has settled down I hope to get back into the swing of things.
  4. I'm a Jays fan and season ticket holder. If you're in town and need good seats for a game, hit me up. Best of luck to Trent. Looks like he has a great future. You must be proud!
  5. Maiden voyage today in me and my buddy's new boat. Decided to christen her on Rice and it was pretty tough sledding. Water temps were 58-60 degrees. Guys were stacked on the usual weed beds, with slower than usual growth and little to show. Reports of OOS Smallies and few walleye. We fished a few holes in 14-17 FOW as well, some shore line, river mouth. Jigged with minnows, worms, bucktails and lures of most description. A few taps, one good hit, no takers. Wondering how everyone else fared or if it was just us. A late spawn?
  6. Mike was also on NPR's national comedy show 'Wait Wait Don't Tell Me.' Good on Mike for having a sense of humour about it all. Transcript here, but it's also available as a podcast: http://www.npr.org/2017/08/12/543042965/bluff-the-listener
  7. Beautiful fish!
  8. New format looks clean, works great! Thanks for all the work you guys do on this board.
  9. Hey all-- Thanks for the replies, and the great suggestions. I promise to oblige your generosity with a detailed report, wherver we end up. Moosebunk - great to hear from you... your reports on Tree river are legendary. At the end of the day where we end up will be my Dad's call but I've got Great Slave - and a few of your other suggestions - on my bucket list. Corvette1 - thanks for the PM. Got it!
  10. Thanks for the reminder on Kesagami. I've read so many great reports from there...
  11. So my Dad turned 70 last year, and I promised him a week long fishing trip anywhere in the world. Once in a lifetime, sky's the limit kind of thing. We've settled on Northern Manitoba and are kicking the tires on a couple of places, including this one: http://www.wollastonlakelodge.com/ Yup, it's pricey. He's not into roughing it any more. And heck, I promised him anywhere in the world. Can't sem to find any reviews on this one so I thought I'd put it out there... anyone been? Or do you have somewhere comparable you'd suggest...? Full report coming next summer. In the meantime it's been kinda fun daydreaming about these places...
  12. Buddy. Way to go. Awesome post. Thanks for sharing. Here's to the many decades of friendship and fishing you will enjoy with your son.
  13. Welcome aboard. Nice fish for you and your son! Do you fish the outpost at Booi's or from the lodge?
  14. Terrific Report! Thanks for sharing.
  15. I mean really. Why do the rest of us bother. Awesome, as always, Mr. Bunk.
