The EASIEST ways to save a buck........
DON'T get married
DON'T have children
Get a job close to home
Get a job that supplies you with coffee and only drink it there for FREE
Get a job that has internet service and only use it there
Get a job that buys you lunch and only eat at work
Get a job that gives you a car and pays for all the gas you use
Get a job that gives you a uniform and always wear it
Get a job that has a back room that you can sleep in
Don't spend any of the money this job pays, just sponge off of friends and relatives
Don't hunt
Don't fish
Don't trap
Don't drink
Don't gamble
Don't date women
After 30 - 40 years of this, you will have a ton of money and nothing to show for it.
The End
That would be the hardest way to save shooniyah lol.

All depends what you are fishing for and where. Go to Thunder Bay and ask 'where are the bass'. They will drive you to the lake, buy your worms and cast your line for you. Ask that in the Kawarthas and you may as well be asking their Bank card PIN number.
Honey holes arent given out here but yep, ask where what lake etc and youll get an honest answer.
When it comes to bass you dont even have to ask. They are everywhere. Populations in sunset country are just crazy.
Wanna get a kid hooked on fishing? Take him bassin on LOTWs or Rainy Lake

As someone who has been out there (and not even in the trades field) I can tell you that the oil fields will drain you. It chews people up and spits them out. The work legislation is different out there. Legally they can work you 24 days straight, 12 hours a day. Then they have to give you 4 days off before they send you right back out again. Most oil companies do 10 days on 10 off which isn't bad, but those 10 days you live at the oil camps. Eat, sleep and live away from friends and family. For small stints this isn't bad but if you have kids or loved ones it can be taxing over the years. Sadly I knew a few people who's relationship ended because of the strain.
I guess I'm spouting off nonsense about wanting my cake and eating it too, but in life, the one thing I can't buy is time. I want to spend as much of it with my family as possible before I no longer have that opertunity.
This is true.
But most companies/employees will continue to work above and beyond the legislation, especially for remote camp work.
The hours I worked were nothing short of rediculous

No I havent tried them garry2s. Id like to try them though.I'm going to use a split-shot right next to the knot when I want to do shaky head...grin.
Speaking of shaky heads...Have you ever tried the Z-man baits?
They float so the tail is always pointing up.
I'm in Arizona and have been using their finesse worms on a 1/16th ball head jig with good results this winter.
You have success with many species or ya just bass fishing south?
I use these worms similar to a senko but I cant find that color here locally, i cant even remember who makes them? I think its Matzuo but it may be Lunkerhunter. I love em have like 20 packs lol

Wicked report bunk!
So, in your later years do you still use braid over fluoro for pike fishing?
-
Trades.
Always a demand for skilled tradesman
-
Garry2s
Look on the first page at my post.
The reasons I chose that bait is because I can fish it numerous ways for a multitude of species. On ice or soft water.
Only difference between you and I is I chose a shakey head jig?

Thanks jeremy!
It was awesome! The support was nothing short of outstanding!
Unfortunately I had to cancel this year because we lost a great community member and his family wanted to hold a derby in his name. And after much thought I believe the respectful thing to do was cancel mine, and direct traffic to his(they shared many friends)
But I still had some unreal donations this year and it will all go to youth anglers! Miigwich to those that donated, you know who you are!
I just love doing these derbies man, everyone has fun, their so appreciative and it just warms my heart.
But I will be back next year with the best derby I can possibly organize
-
Hahah thats wicked Lew???
-
We had many raffles as well, a live band after the derby, and a pot luck.
I love small community derbies!
Oh we also had a youth talent show!!!
-
A 12 year old girl won my derby last year!
As well as the youth angler award (fully stocked tackle box, 2 ice fishing rods and a shimano clarus rod, and a leather embroidered jacket)
-
And I should also mention, at least my derby, is catch, measure release.
No keepers
-
Maybe just me (I'm going to catch a lot of flack for this but I'm willing to debate and be swayed)
Should they really be hosting fishing derbies on family fishing weekend? The lakes are already going to be getting enough pressure and it allows guys to enter derbies who don't have their licence and may not know the best catch and release practices.
Ive hosted derbies on family day.
Smaller derbies though.
The anglers have been nothing but awesome! Even had some 2 year olds out last year and you as the derby director, just make your rounds and help teach them.
Id rather families be out fishing and enjoying nature. Sure you might lose a few fish but thats a small drop in the bucket compared to giving a kiddo the fishing bug and spending a day away from screens and video games.
Derbies are kinda the easiest way to ensemble the people with no experience.
To me its a win win.
But my derbies are small, 100 people usually.
A much bigger one may pose more problems?
But if Ive had one family have a blast, ill sleep good at night.
Its about nature, family and teaching the kids.
To me thats nothing but positive?

Ah I didnt know that Chris!!!
Miigwich

Good on ya jeremy!!!Taking a large group of us out to cooks. A lot of my families first time ice fishing. My grandfather's mouth is watering at the possibility of all the perch he will have to fry up.
Dont forget our elders or disabled!!!!

Family day on feb 16th people.
No license needed for fishing either.
Start making plans now and get your family out FISHING!!!
-
Lol around here its the exact opposite.
An old high school chum came here yesterday to check our water filters and seen my ice fishing gear out. Lol we got to talkin about fishing and he ended up staying for over an hour.
Made some plans for trout next week haha. Wonder how often something like that would happen in Toronto?

Just to get a idea of whom and where this call is being answered from, I sometimes after several attempts of really trying to understand their English I will ask "what's park outside your window right now, a camel or a elephant". That is always answered with a silent moment by my friendly phone rep.
Wow....
I know its a nuassance but thats going a lil far dontcha think?

Nothing like a txt at 7am, "hey man I dont mean to bother you, but I have an appointment at 830. Can you give me a ride? I'll shoot ya twenty bucks next month"?
Lol what seriously you have an appointment and never arranged a ride way before hand?
Of course ya never see any money either.
Same few try it with us all the time. "Sorry, the bank it closed. Next time have your brain checked out while your at it".
I dont wanna sound harsh but yeah, my schedule is busy posting on OFC lol
