  1. Geez, float suit and all, but dry clothes on land?

How far you plan on going?

Even with a float suit your a gonner if you take a dip and have to travel any distance to change.

Even in my training, -20, its very very hard to get yourself to shore, nevermind change. All i had to travel was maybe 70 yards and its insanely hard and very scary.

    That was in controlled enviroment

  2. No scatter rap, but I did find a bunch of clackin raps in a clearance bin at canadian tire last winter (wonder if it was a mistake?). I got em for $6 each, and absolutely pounded pike, smallmouth and even quite a few pickerel on them. Quality bait , but I think full price is close to $14. To rich for my blood! Hopefully l'll be able to make the half doz I bought last. I'm even using them through the ice. I see they came out with a clacking rap stick bait now. Maybe I'll get lucky and find some of them in a clearance bin$

    They retail at 10.

    Cool story though.

I bumped into al linder years back when he was prefishing the fort frances bass championships.

We were both fueling up and my son was hyped to meet al. I think he was around 6 at the time. Clackin raps were brand new. In fact im not even sure they were in stores yet.

My son talks to al about his strategy which was hilarious in its own right. Al gives me a pat on the back and grabs a box outta his boat and hands it to my son.

There was aboit 100 clackin raps in there.

My son was sooooo happy(as was i)

    Al is a class act

  3. I didnt even know what a rapala was as a child. All I ever fished was a spinner with a minnow and trolled. Caught tons of fish too!

When my grandpa passed, my dad found his tackle box and thought id like to have it. Of course I want it!!!! Open it up, had some bug dope in it thats was highly suspect, some weights and about a 100 hooks lol. Ah well its still cool to have?

  4. Thanks alot for the condolences, it helps.

as outdoorsman, IMO loosing a pet can be just brutal.

all those outings, memories etc, ughhh.

    I cant explain it.

our partners in life, amazing trips, great family times. Our dogs play such a big role in all of that.

today I lost a friend, my outdoors partner, my protection...

she was the best. Great with the kids, everyone really. She loved fishing, always by our sides. She even had a place at the table, she lived a great life.

the kids lost a great friend, she was like that blanket of comfort. As my kids ventured I always felt they were safe cause Tala protected them.

this dog took wolf and coyotes like a secret service agent for my kids and me.

    12 great years...

  5. Husky number two just passed away?

Just went to grab her for a feed and she was gone, laying in her house.

Telling the kids is never easy.

Tobacco was laid and tommorrow we'll take her to be layed to rest with her sister.

    Such a bummer
