  1. Garmin Bluecharts and the Inland Lakes card will both have Simcoe! Great maps too
  2. A Lowrance HDS7 Gen2 on the console and HDS5 Gen2 at the bow would be a nice combo to have networked together and would put you right under that $2000 mark and you would still have the option of adding the Structure Scan side/down imaging at a later date if you wanted.
  3. They are stacked up good out of Peff! Lots of boats out there.
  4. If you are in the Great Lake Region(Georgian Bay/Lake Ontario) the proper mapping card that will show the most detail and accuracy would be the Navionics Gold or Platinum Cards. May be worth to take a look at the Navionics Fish N Chip as well for greater detail on the Great Lakes!
  5. The Hotmaps Canada card does not have Georgian Bay. Just the inland lakes. The US Base Map that is built into the HDS units really does not show too much. Some lakes in Ontario are roughly outlined but that's about the best detail you get. The Navionics card is definitely a necessity in the HDS units for our area.
  6. Fish the south side of Georgina Island in 9-12 feet of water. Lots of perch there. Big ones too. You can launch in the Pefferlaw River or Sibbalds Point Provincial Park. They are the closest launch ramps. Good Luck.
  7. I have 2 HDS5 units linked together via ethernat cable. They are great units. Trouble free and fairly easy to use once you get use to them. For mapping, the Navionics Gold or Platinum card are ideal for the Great Lakes and Trent System. For inland lakes(Kawarthas, Muskokas, Nipissing, Temagami, etc) the Navionics Hotmaps Canada is the card to get. Some of the Kawartha Lakes are in HD which means a lot more contour lines and other useful detail. With the rebate offer going on now, you can't go wrong with the HDS series. There are ice fishing packs that Lowrance makes specifically for the HDS series. Good Luck.
  8. The most recent Hotmaps Canada card will indeed work on your LMS-520. I know a few friends that run that card on that exact unit!
  9. I have got the latest Navionics Hotmaps Canada card(MSD/HM-C). It does have Sturgeon Lake and it is in HD, which means more contour lines and detail compared to the older Hotmaps Premium cards.
  10. If you are looking for a trolling motor with variable speed I would suggest looking at the Minn Kota Traxxis motor. The handle extends as well as pivots, and is going to be a whole lot better in the weeds with the weedless wedge prop that it comes with. Battery life is awesome too especially with the Maximizer feature that is incorporated in the motor. Here is a link to the Traxxis motor......http://www.minnkotamotors.com/products/trolling_motors/freshwater_transom_mount/traxxis.aspx
  11. Around the 3lbs mark I would think. Nice Fish.
  12. WOWW!!! Awesome Report and Pics!!!! Thanks for sharing.
  13. My two most productive panfish lures through the ice are the Buckshot Rattle Spoon by Northland and my very favourite the Jigging Rap in firetiger colour. Tip both of them with Berkley Powerbait Maggots. Won't go on the ice without them. Good Luck!!
  14. I use the small 750 and 1000 series Shimano reels like the Sahara and Symetre and have got no complaints about either. Good solid reels.
