  1. He definitely has the fishing bug now, he loves it! I'm more of a guide now which I really don't mind, awesome seeing him get excited and catch some big ones. We drove around up in the Parry Sound area just looking for spots and boat launches to fish from, it was a good time exploring, love that area up there. Never ending supply of little lakes that hold monsters.
  2. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for having a replica bass mount done, for the lunker bass my son just caught. I got a replica made for my own bass years ago but don't remember where I got it done. Barrie area.
  3. Just got back from a 4 night family camping/fishing trip in Parry Sound. Save to say we did very well! My son caught quite a few bass He had a huge one break off a couple days ago, that was cruising around under a dock, so we came back this morning before heading back home and he caught it this time. The Monster was 20 inches long, 6 inches thick, 6.4 pounds! we are going to be a replica made, it swam away just fine. Awesome fish!
  4. Maybe I should, I have a bass and a perch replica lol, it was a beast.
  5. I'm pretty sure every kid would call a Big Rock Bass, Rocky! lol
  6. Kept one last week with some perch we caught, it wasn't too bad, not my favorite eating fish.
  7. Was out with Bray again yesterday, we caught some Panfish and I was messing around with worms also and hooked into a Monster Rock Bass, biggest I've ever caught. I need to work a little with him on his camera aiming. What's everyones biggest Rock bass? I know the Ontario record is 17 inches and around 3 pounds.
  8. Looks like a great day!
  9. I’m sure there is some bigger then 15, I have a replica of one that was just over 14 inches on my wall from 2012 that I caught up in Orillia, was a monster.
  10. oh, didn't know that, thanks
  11. I’m still going for pike while he fishing for panfish, I almost needed the net for the jumbo lol
  12. Thanks! Although he is getting too used to catching big fish lol, disappointed when they aren’t a big bowfin or jumbos lol. He certainly seems to love fishing now, maybe soon I can take him to my pike spots.
  13. We've definitely had some good times with this weird break, hopefully the kids go back in September and can play with other kids, it's really important for their development.
  14. Got out with the boy again this morning, he caught a nice 12.5 inches jumbo and another one about 10. Also a decent rock bass, they will be part of lunch tomorrow I might have to switch to worms for a bit to get some jumbos myself!
  15. My son and I hit Simcoe today, he was just using a hook and worm, caught a ton of perch and rock bass including a couple big ones, I also took one of my favourite pictures of him so far, the one at the front of the boat. I caught a bunch too but was just messing around with my in-line spinners for pike. Note - I’ve been trying to get him to not hold the fish as far out as that lol!
  16. Oh ya it was a good fight, I’ve never caught one either lol! His rod was bent over like crazy.
  17. Nope, is that a thing? Because of the spawning I guess.
  18. Interesting
  19. Haven't had the boat out as of yet, but my son and I have been hitting local rivers and inlets around Innisfil on Simcoe. Today he caught a 7-8 pound Bowfin. He caught it all by himself, I'm surprised the line didn't snap! Got a good picture of it flipping out of our hands. He managed to catch some sunfish, rockbass, bass, perch, Bowfin, and 2 gobies today which we killed.
  20. Hey, guess I put the post on the wrong section of the forum, is there a way to move to the general discussion?

Naw, but some here are asking why no reply is on that section.

Just copy and paste. No big deal.

  21. Check out the Big Bowfin my son caught! Haven’t had the boat out yet but we have been fishing local rivers and mouths wherever we can find around innisfil area. Didn’t weight it but probably 6-8 pounds, reeled it in all by himself, I’m surprised the line didn’t break. it slipped out of our hands and got a good picture lol!

  22. I was also surprised that the guy that lost his fire starter couldn't last one night and then look again in the morning, I realize your basically screwed without a fire but still. Can't believe one guy didn't bring a bow, it would certainly help a little even if your not great with it.
  23. My weather app shows thunderstorms for the next 5 days looks like
  24. Little pathetic trying to book a launch at Innisfil Beach, I tried a couple days ago and the closest I could find an open slot was like 4 days away at like 7pm, nothing in the morning ish for like a week. They are booking them in 30 minute intervals, so not very many per day. I'm very put off fishing in the boat right now... I have to be able to predict the weather a week in advance to be able to take my kid out fishing. We've just fished for perch in the local rivers around us.
  25. Sounds like Innisfil just opened their launch but residents only and you have too book your launch and pick up time lol, that will be interesting
