They dont fin clip anymore... in my opinion the reason for this is because people catch naturally reproduce salmon, which proves the hatchery fish dont make it and is a wast of money

And by stocking fish ontop of wild populations you destroy the wild or natulized runs. The U.S. tocks lots of fish and most of the stocking comes from Toronto west. Let those fish up the credit River and you will have even more fish. Hatchery fish only prove that we can destroy habitat and tell people don't worry we can grow em and that is truly sad. The Atlantic program in schools does the same thing. Hey kids don't worry about the environment look we can grow a extinct fish in our class. Now that's a great lesson.

we already do have a amazing fishing in the lake and rivers... as far as stocking i do not belive we need stocked fish in lake ontario the salmon and trout seem to be doing fine with out the help of hatchery fish .. close the hatcheryies and give money to co ..... there is lots of info there like the ganaraska strain rainbow trout in the rivers in gaspa que interfering with atlantic salmon ..

the highest ganny run was 14000 fish we have never had 18000 fish run the ganny. the counter counts every fish exept 16 inch fish or smaller last year was 1.6 % of the trout run was under 16 inches .

Those numbers are absolute bull crap. Those numbers are inflated so bad what the counter counts that's the count they counter counts everything Over 16 inches. Last year 1.6percent were under 16 inches

The dam is solid. Basically from the file factory south let go. They started up stream because they know they can not make ice go out. They started upstream so they can now break pieces small so they have less chance to jam back up. As of today the west side of river is closed to all traffic including people the river blew out and its dangerouse the town has closed it till further notice.. I have asked that the ice be pushed back in river once it clears the town is up in air over that .. so till the ice is gone there will be no access south of the viaduct on the west side of river

if i was present i would have certainly said something .. i would have first tried to contact our local police force (port hope) they would have been there in a flash unless something big was happening .. but i have confronted my fair share of guys over the years... i gave a guy a heads up earlier in the day about fishing in the sanctuary i asked him if he could read English and he went off on me for being a racist i said i don't care if your asian black white green or purple i ask every one that question when your fishing under signs that are 3 foot by 2 foot.... cause if your fishing next to them you can't.. his response to me was i can more than afford a 2000 dollar fine for fishing here ....but he soon left when i continuously called him a poacher so ever one down steam could hear me... he tried to be the tough guy but he thought twice ... most guys if you embrase them they will fold

I was the one that took the pictures on Facebook.. it did not mater weather they had regs or not.. there 2 signs about 3 foot by 2 foot that says provincial sanctuary with a symbol with a fish on it with a big fat red line ... and i seen them what appeared to be letting "some" people that could not understand off with no licence and made them buy them and they caught one guy at the byway hole with a gaff... the part that surprised me is no one said anything to the guy with a gaff they just let him have his way with the resource ???

nice striped bass the first 2 are hybrids and the other three are pure ..... they are a blast to catch ... and very good eating .. as long as you get all the red flesh from them

the town can slap a no trespass order up in under 24 hours.. will that happen .. not likely as they don't care hell they let them boat throughout the sanctuary all in the name of making money

There are now 3794 fish that have gone through the fish way. That is in the last two day we have had back to back 1000 fish days

trying to force every person to have the OFAH insurance.... they are saying the same thing at the fish ladder in port hope have to be a mnr over site so they going to put someone there from sun up to sun down to watch the volunteers do all the work..... they say it a insurance thing... bull crap...

MJL your close .. the year round fishing is the southerly limits of the cnr right of way.. last year the pin (servey stake was dug up ) no fishing under the bridge at all for trout and salmon
