Hi all and Happy new year, Got out to an old lake and tried a new spot on Jan 1st and Jan 2nd. Short evening sessions but did ok, made a couple videos as usual.

Hi All, got out from 11am to 4pm, have to say it was sloooooooow. Got 8 crappie in all and a bunch of dink perch, but some of the crappies were 15”ers, can’t complain. Had to go back to my new spot…again, tried to get to my walleye lake yesterday but there were three 5 foot high pressure cracks on my route, the last one had water on the surface, decided I had better things to do than die that day.

Arrived this evening from the looney bin!!😁

Hi all, I have been out quite a few times in the last outlet days, just local to me on Wabigoon, nice to have enough ice to drive to one spots. Mixed bag of species, crappie, walleye, a couple of perch and even some Tulibee. Here’s the video from yesterday……

Thanks for the update, not hijacking , we are in ‘General Discussion’ after all , but I am jealous that you get to cast for musky and catch a couple too, good job!

Yeah it’s the season. I have not even had to clear snow at all so far this winter, unheard of, it rained all day yesterday and I can see my lawn again….crazy! I am now worried about our pipes freezing with no snow insulation, not a good feeling, I’m never really eager for it to snow, but it needs at least what you’re getting before the temperatures drop….and they will…. Lol.

Another peaceful evening here in balmy NW Ontario.

Wow…that’s a decent Walleye chop…you’re braver than me for sure, tight lines and I would love to see some pics of your adventures.

Hi all, Got back to Eagle lake for the sunset bite, this time I was flying solo, catch and release this time, just a good way to relax.

Gotta love that, my boats been put away since the beginning of October, I could have kept it out until 2 weeks ago… lol.

For Musky?

Hi all, It’s been about a week since our bay here on Lake Wabigoon froze and stayed frozen after numerous false starts due to really unusually mild temps. Was pretty confident it was safe as since it froze 24hr temps have averaged below zero, little video below……

They look great, would be good for crappie.

Osbourne Bay is basically where I’m fishing in the video, by the bridge at Bear Narrows. Your right about the water there, just a shade clearer than the Goon.

Wow! That’s a lot of walleye! I’ve only fished around TBL once, we had all sorts of boat issues that day so it was a bit of a let down. I should fish for musky there more often, but don’t, mainly because Wabigoon is literally my back yard I suppose. I definitely take advantage of the riches Every. Chance. I. Get.

Hi all, Got down to Eagle Lake for a couple hours before sunset, not tons of bites but got supper out of the the deal.

Been a while since I got into whities Brian, catch the odd one here and there, but my go to lake feels like it just gets worse every year, it gets hit pretty hard the last decade, shame really, groups of 10 people keeping a limit of 12 per person. IThey we’re tanks in that lake, keep 4 and you have 15lbs of good meat….oh well, when it’s gone it’s gone

Hi all, Got on the ice for the first time for the 2023/24 season. There was 6” of clear black ice, surprising given the mild weather. Got a couple small walleye and missed a few bites too, but the pike was the highlight, 39”er on 6lb test.

Yeah bring on the ice Bruvva!! The ice is actually gone now, blew off the next day, but it’s gonna go any moment now, -17 and -19C forecast Thursday and Friday nights, if we get a calm night she’ll be done. I went grouse hunting with my boy yesterday( we saw only one bird and never got a shot) and there were two or three ponds that hold fish that were locked up still, will check the ice on them Sunday, might get to wet a line before November is done, fingers crossed 🤞

Hi all, Our bay finally iced over yesterday, it’s raining today but night temps by the end of the week will be -17C, fingers crossed we don’t get too much snow. Hoping to be on the ice 1st week of December.
