Great report! and monster fish. Congrats! I picked up a few bondy baits and havent tried them yet. Heard they are a great bait for deep water skis.

Haha any pics? Yes it is, and thanks! Marten are very curious animals. I often see them when in the deer stand.

I love the pattern and colour! -
Plenty of lakes that will offer good fish, as for shopping malls...not so much. Like Fang mentioned, I also bough a real good insulated rain suite at Mark's Work Warehouse. Might want to check them out for sure!

Nice clip! Is that a tiger? -
I'm very tempted on this one: https://fishingworld.ca/products/6235-clam-fish-trap-nanook- (two person Sled style on sale) I wish it didnt have such negative reviews. What are you considering Chad?

Its like opening gifts on x-mas morning, ya never know what you'll get lol Thanks

Well, its that time of year again. My internal clock has changed from chasing fish to hunting fauna. I decided to take the boat out one last time on saturday to run a little fuel stabalizer through the system, and brough along a few rods as well. Was only out for a few hours but the fishing was great. Landed a few small pike, and dozens of agressive smallies. Very surprising considering the water temp was hovering around 50. Ended the day early as my hands started to stiffen up. I could barely grip onto these two brutes for the last pic of the year. With the boat put away, my attention can now be 100% focused on deer hunting, and a little trapping as well. Sunday I headed into the bush to retreive my trail camera cards. I was pleased with what has been visiting my stands. I have three cameras throughout 100 acres, and managed over 1700 pics combined in less than a week. This guy has been visiting both of my favorite stands, usually very close behind a group of does/fawns. A little young, but I think I'd still take him if the opportunity came. I'm seeing lots of these... and these... I think this one is sticking her tongue out at me... Also, I allways get other wildlife. I'll get these fox and marten once the hunt is over! Hope you enjoyed the pics! Stay safe.

Great story and nice pics! -
Thanks for all the links and advice. I'm still unsure what I'll end up going with, but you have all helped me narrow it down. Except you Chad, It'll take me a full day to go through your links and compare them all haha
-
Thanks for the links Chad. I think I may indeed go with a tent style shelter, and haul it in the sleigh I allready have.
-
Nice fish Are they both from the same lake. One looks alot darker. Could be the lighting...
-
Thanks, Looks very roomy, but definitly not one I'd like to haul by hand.
-
Are most of the two man shelters light enough to haul by hand? The reason I am buying one is to bring with me to all my small back lakes, most often walking through a narrow winding trail through the bush. But I'm starting to get the feeling they might be too big/heavy. Am I better off getting a popup shelter without the sleigh/seats?
-
I am not speaking from experience, but I have heard that recurve's are alot more dependable. Also, should you need to replace an old or damages string, its not as difficult as it would be on the compound. As for power and weight, I'm not sure which has the advantage. Good luck.

Thanks for all the advice guys. Before I began my research, I had though for sure Clam built quality products, but with many negative reviews, I'm starting to think not. Does any one have any good pics of their portables? Inside and out?
-
Thanks guys, I'll take a look at the Otters a little more closely.
-
Thanks I'll look into it. Is there something specific about this older model that you liked?
-
That might be something I would seriously consider. But I too am leery about purchasing something online that I am not 100% confiend in. Thus my post here. Its hard enough to decide on a specific brand, let alone the many different models within. We'll keep in touch, let me know if you come accross anything, and I'll do the same.

Hey guys, I'm searching for a portable ice shelter and was looking for some advice from others. I am after a two man shelter that folds into a sleigh, preferably with two built in seats. I’ve looked at Clams, Frabills, Otters and multiple other brands, but am unsure which to go with. I was looking at spending approx. $400-500. I had almost decided on the Clam Fish Trap - Nanook at $339 but then read multiple negative reviews regarding the fabric tearing, poor hardware, weak poles etc.. The next model up is the Clam Fish Trap - Yukon at $449 I'm basically looking for something durable, built to last, and fairly light. It needs to be easily put up as well as taken down. I figured I'd come ask the folk who know best. So if any of you have purchased something similar, please give me your thoughts and/or suggestions. Thanks in advance.
