  1. Thanks for the advice Sinker. I opperate along the same lines as you do.

What sucks is. We've had permission on 3 great properties, and in the last year, 2 of the older farmers passed away, and their kids gated the properties, and put up no hunting signs. And the 3rd property was sold, and is going to be turned into some sort of commercial building lot.

I would have loved to go knocking on doors months ago, but I've been pre-occupied with other crap.

I was going to scrap this season, but figure I'll give it a shot.

  2.

This is the one thing I hate about turkey hunting. Its all about scouting and securing permission. I'm in it for the hunt, not the begging. I hate it.

    S.

    I know. It's brutal.

I've got 450 acres of signed permission in writing from the owners.

No dam Turkeys in any of those properties..

  3. I'd say hunt it, unless the lease/rent agreement excluded hunting as a permitted activity.

That's what got me thinking, and lead to me posting this.

I don't know what the farmers lease agreement says about hunting, and granting access.

But by the farmer giving me permission, I can only assume that he has the right to do that. If not, he is breaching his lease agreement.

I know that the land owner doesn't like hunters on his properties (blanket statement). The guy owns thousands, and thousands of acres. But I don't know if the farmers lease agreement gives him the authority to grant hunting permission. :wallbash:

Thanks for you opinions so far guys!

All my hunting buddies just tell me to go hunt the place, and don't think twice. You guys give good, un-biased options, and I appreciate that.

  4. So I've been trying to get access to a decent looking property for a while now.

I finally see the farmers out and about, so I go and talk to them. Turns out they rent to property from a Korean fella down in the City. They don’t know his phone number, just the contact info for the property manger.

The farmers (the tenants) give me verbal permission to hunt the property.

I call the property manager to ask him, and he tells me the Land Owner did not give him the authority to allow hunters on his property. But he knows the land owner doesn't want hunters on his properties.

So, I don’t have permission from the land owner. But I have verbal permission from the farmers who rent the property.

    Would you hunt this property?

I am going to try to get the land owners phone number, and call him directly. But the property manager didn't seem to keen on giving me his number.

  5. Well done Chuck. Im passing on this season.

I had a fishy feeling you where going to do that.

I was going to do the same thing. But then my boss dragged me to Canadian Tire yesterday and convinced me to buy a tag.

Congrets on the bird Chuck!! Where the pics??

  6. I removed the video of the little gaffer practicing hook set because I couldn't figure out how to edit out the personal info.

    Here's a few pics though.

  7. Nick,

You can have multiple 'albums' on PB within your account. Sign in, click on 'Albums', then 'Create new album'. You can then set privacy settings accordingly- public/private/password protected.

I use my 'public' album for posting photos here. Everything else is in seperate private albums. Family photos are kept in a password protected album so they can visit anytime.

    Hope this helps.

    Simon

Thanks Simon. That's what I ended up doing. I set all my other albums to private.

Just wondering if there's a way to embed a video, just like you can do with U Tube.

  8. I'm not sure you will be able to see this video. First time trying to post a video from Photobucket.

I'm pretty sure he/she is practicing hook sets in there!!!

A short video from my 20 week ultra sound on Tuesday.

Does anyone know how to insert a video from photobucket so it doesn't link people to my account?

  9. Thanks again for the tips gang.

Just a quick update. We left my dads place at about 7:45, and got to the funeral home at 9:03.

Took the south way along the Gardener. It was slow, but it worked out perfect in the end.

    I'm off to Cuba now!!

Got a pack rod, and my Shimano Symetre. A small tackle box. Gunna snag fresh shrimp from the buffet for bait :canadian:

See Ya'll in a week :Gonefishing:

  10. Thanks Wayne. Ya, getting to his house is easy. It's getting him across town that has me thinking

My old mad used to be a truck driver before he lost his licence. He know's the city inside and out. BUT, like I said. He's in a really bad spot right now. Last time I talked to him, he didn't know what day it was, or if it was morning or evening. He's totally lost. :(

  11. I know this is very last minute, and totally NF.

My week has been a disaster. My Step Mom died last weekend. My Dad is in ROUGH shape.

I am going to his place at Martin Grove and 401 tomorrow morning at 7:30am. I need to get him to the funeral home at Danforth and Main for 9am.

    Rush Hour. :wallbash:

What's my best bet. 401 to DVP South, Don Mills, O'Connor, Woodbine south to Danforth

    OR

427 south to Gardener, Lakeshore, then up Woodbine to Danforth.

Google says they're both 32 minutes.. Rush hour, things might be different. :dunno:

My old man has lived in T.O his entire life, but I'll be lucky if he's coherent. I'm really not looking forward to tomorrow one single bit. But I have to help my old man out.

I'll check this post again in the morning before I leave my house at 6am. Any help from the night hawks would be more the greatly appreciated.

  12. What makes that line great?,Always open to new /better products.

I've always found it to have very low memory, and low stretch.

like Brian said, I guess it's a confidence thing?

I use Braid on almost all my rods now. But when I'm not using braid, I use Andes. It's also my go to leader material if I don't have 100% flouro on hand.

Oh, and a correction Brian, It's a spool of 6lb green I have, not 8lb.

    Edit.

I just re-red my post and thought of something...

"I don't always use Mono. But when I do. I prefer Andes"

    Yes...I've had a few beers.
